  • SPECIAL TANKS TO SUZUKI familly!!

  • The last ice-age killed off dinosaurs and this trend towards warmer temps (a natural occurance) may cause some species to become extinct, but I doubt it. We've got zoos, frozen eggs, etc. Do you think man can fight nature? You alarmists have so little to do that you create problems this planet doesn't need, especially now. Oh, and that $7/hour job might be pretty important to that person. Of course Mr. bigbucksdave is your hero, so you couldn't relate to what I'm saying.

  • juzu4me: You've just proven the apathy which exists surrounding our home known as planet earth. The fact that you point out, shows that even Suzuki succumbs to a lifestyle which is not sustainable and has been warped by an addiction to oil. There are alternatives that we are not aware of and he has shown them...North Americans are a stagnant regressive society compared to the more progressive Europeans. Wake up North America and smell the pollution you are emitting.

  • His daughter is pretty hot

  • THANK YOU

  • Suzuki wouldn't give up the fortune he made spewing CO2 into the air to eradicate pollution. He's admitted that he has a huge carbon footprint---look it up if you don't believe me. Now that he's older he may be less reluctant to travel--but he still will. Hypocracy at its finest. I'm sure he's a nice man and everything, but he's out for himself and his family, and doesn't care about the average joe. Actions speak louder than words, and Suzuki's actions cleary point to hypocracy.

  • And there's no positve proof that the world is about to become a desperate place. Increased CO2 in the air is great for plants, i.e. growing food. Did you know that? And Suzuki just travelled across Europe and to Australia. Why do you say he's going to quit flying? He won't, you watch. He's got a house in Australia. He's hungry for more fame. He will continue to use TV (a medium that used unlimited amounts of CO2 to exist) to broadcast his messages.

  • hes not telling anyone to turn off thier TV's, computers and stop driving thier cars, he is trying to show how reusable energy is being used to power everyday things and show us that there is ways to get energy without poluting the air and the enviroment, and if he is getting rich along the way, good for him, he deserves it from a lifetime of study and hard work.

  • Ok, so he got rich polluting our planet---filthy rich and famous. But now he wants to take some poor guy's job away from him so that he can become even more rich and famous? Do you not see the hypocracy here?

It's -30 outside, my city hasn't seen these kind of temperatures for over 10 years. Global warming is a hoax. Let's take care of the economy and the feed the hungry. Let these alarmists waste their time and money whining about a few icebergs melting

  • yeah, your right, who cares about THOUSANDS of kilometers of melted polar ice caps and the inevitable extincition the animals there, its only a few icebergs, right?, i guess i should worry more about keeping my little 7 dollar an hour job tho,why should i worry about clean drinking water and clean air when the big corporations are looking after that for us, i just know they have out best interests in mind, now i can finally sleep at night. peace

  • You know, it's never a good thing to come off sounding like a sarcastic idiot when you're trying to make a point. But I still understood your point. Where's your proof-postive that global warming is causing the icebergs to melt? Do you think humans, if they existed back then, could have prevented the last ice-age? Of course not, let's not be silly. The ice-age wasn't caused by humans, and neither is the melting of the icebergs. IT'S A NATURAL CYCLE, COMPRENDEZ? You alarmists just don't get it.

  • What have you done for the environment lately juzu4me? Suzuki has done A LOT to bring awarness to the issues.

  • I haven't, and won't make a living spewing huge amounts of CO2 into the air for my whole life and after I've made a fortune ask everyone else to stop travelling so much. He's a hypocrite. Why don't you ask him to donate all the money he made while travelling on a jet to make his shows. He'd tell you to f off and mind your own business. Suzuki may bring awareness, but as the other person who relpied to my comments clearly states----he is a hypocrite.

  • Suzuki's wikipedia page states:

Suzuki himself laments that in traveling constantly to spread his message of climate responsibility, he's "over his [carbon] limit by hundreds of tonnes." He has stopped vacationing overseas and taken to "clustering" his speaking engagements together to reduce his carbon footprint. He would prefer, he says, to appear solely by video conference.

Plus, notice they're travelling mostly by rail, solar boats and bikes.

  • But they mist have flown to Europe....what a waste. He must have been there a hundred times or more. He just wanted a working vacation is all. And trains don't run on water you know. Plus, how did he travel when the cameras were turned off? You know how these hypocrites operate. And the technology for the video conferencing? The technology took a vaste amount of energy to create. Just think about it. Suzuki therefore supports so called 'global warming'.

  • Clearly you're an idiot who doesn't know what they're talking about.

  • Well if that's all the defense you have then you're pretty useless.

  • Be critical sure, but no one is completely free of hypocracy, in the very least Suzuki is trying. It seems you would rather have hegemonic capitalist structure run itself and the world completely into the ground without any sort of idea about what global environmental crisis is coming. It is much more radical to try to engage with these issues including the hypocracy and try and change them than to dismiss it entirely. We are all hypocrites does that mean we give up? No.

  • Hi ky, thankyou for the postive comments.

Sure Suzuki is trying, but he's still making tons of money out of it. He's trying to quell what made him his fortune. So an industry that can't afford the changes he proposes will close down, and an average Joe will lose his job and his family will suffer. Does Suzuki care about this? Do you see the extreme hypocracy and irony? Suzuki says he's doing this for humanity but he's going to hurt a lot of people.

  • Thank you juzu4me. Dummy.

  • kelsey..dummy? I haven't been called that since kindergarten. GROW UP.

  • I'm sorry juzu4me. Fartface.

  • I'm sorry too, poo-poo face.

  • Actually he has stopped flying. He now works from home, for example this years students for sustainablity campus tour he was talking via satillite to students rather than come in person - although this produces less student turn out for the issues it seems, so what is really more effective if you are going to call him on 'hypocracy'. He has stopped travelling abroad and across Canada however.

  • Love this documentary/diary! When is part 2 coming?

  • This is awesome! Thanks you CBC for putting this up on YouTube. I love David Suzuki and it's great to see his daughter taking such an active interest in the planet's future.
