She did not fix her teeth until she was about 20 and even then she was critised by the public for her appearance. She didn't have a boyfriend until she was 20, and that was the man she married, so she has never really been in the "dating scene". She therefore knows what it's like to feel ugly and feel left out of the dating scene.
