@snerdsdvig I was in a band with Dave in the late 80's/early 90's. Great guitarist, great singer, great mate. I haven't spoken to him in many years now but I'm sure he will still be playing, one of the few musicians I have had the privilege to work with who can be described as a natural.
Lve this post! I stumbled upon the vinyl many years ago and it has been a staple in my collection of the greatest albums ever. I continue to play this over and over and now I can hear it without all of the scratches!
Played this to death in the 70's one of Jeff's great unknown solos, no histrionics just nice and funky - just builds and builds - love the synth guitar jamming. Radio Merseyside nicked a sample for their signature?
I saw Upp a couple of times at the Marquee. They were great! Steven Amazing was...well, amazing, and the guitarist was very cool too. Played through a Watkins Copicat and an AC30 as I remember.
Agree - I saw these guys at Aylesbury Friars in 1975..ish, they were supporting a band called Widowmaker, who were unbelievably loud and crap. Upp were knockout and Steven Amazing was way ahead of his time, along with Colin Hodgkinson and Pastorius, great band, fond memories. Would love to see the OGWT footage sometime.
should have clicked on the More button would have saved me typing that bit about Jeff ...thought he did get a mention on one of the Albums...am not climbing through the loft to find my vinyl copy.....lol
Great upload mate...saw these guys at the Roundhouse supporting Canned Heat ..they came across even better live..but I bought these two albums ...great track ..great to hear after all these years, can really hear the Jeff Beck influence..he produced their albums or one of them as well as guesting for them...
Jeff Beck was such a restless pioneer and innovator. We need more like him today in the music bizz.

I LOVE this track, and how on earth the album failed to sell by the truck load is beyond me, there's not a duff track on it.

I have to say, I don't reckon the Average White Band were any funkier than these guys.
Thanx for sharing
