@mrcatohead First race the 26 november 2004 ( jean-laurent Heusse, 56"37 ). Since this first date: 269 four hundred meters hurdles (last in IAAF meeting of Lievin the 5 march 2010) and never a accident. This race is official in french university championschip since 2006: record and national title.
@SARKADI69 its dangerous, just cause nothings happened yet doesnt mean nothings going to happen, theres a reason they use a steeple in the steeple chase, cause it wont fall down, if not they would use hurdles like this.

Originating in Britain as a horse race between villages - from church steeple to church steeple, as these are easily visible direction markers - the event was later taken up by athletics and retained the name steeplechase. The barriers - they are NOT called steeples - represent the fences/stone walls that separated the fields, (and the water jump represents the ditches).
