Also EVERY film school seems to have mixed reviews, except NYU and USC, and my boss told me beacuse this is due to alot "of lazy hipsters" that "think" they want to do film, but don't put in the nessecary legwork to get into the industry. Both my Production managers told me to avoid these types of people when putting together student films. No matter what school you go to, FILM is hard!
I am not a student at flashpoint, but work with several other students at an internship I'm working on now which I was lucky enough to find through craigs list. I'm debating which film school I want to attend, and those that have been to Flash Point LOVE it. I've questioned other crew members from Cal Tech, Illnois institue of arts, columbia(chi), and depaul, but none we as passionate about their education as those from FP.
The staff is excellent but a little disorganized due to the school's ongoing development. The facility is state of art and you will work hands on with the equipment almost immediately. Of course the school isnt accredited yet, so dont count on writing off your school loan interest on your taxes. Wonderful teachers who will help a lot. Flashpoint Academy Standards(student work and effort ratings) are kind of high schoolish but they think it works. They won't get you a job so don't count on it.

Every school has to start somewhere. You can't just start a school and be accredited immediately. There is a process you have to go through, which they are. How much hands on training do you get in a regular 4 yr degree program? How much time also is wasted in those degree programs where you're learning crap you won't even use in your career? With FlashPoint, it's all hands on and you're learning the most up to date techniques with the most up to date technology.
You sound like someone who works at Flashpoint? - Sponsoring the same old crap from the website and multi video interviews. And to tell you that the Illinois Institute of Art has a GREAT digital film program. And what seems to be FP strong point, is trying to brag about how better they are. Which is sad. I, among others, are arguing that FP can't cut the chase. They're saying that when you graduate you will have a job. Well, that's unlikely. And it's not a waste from a 4yr school. :( bud
I'd like to see some comments ANYWHERE on the internet from people who are actually going to Flashpoint. All I see is self serving marketing bullshit from the owners of the academy (or is it SCAM?).

I do go to Flashpoint and I have alot to say about it. I have been given numerous opportunities both on and off film sets. I have produced an award winning short for a 48 hour film competition. I have been able to network with many people in my field of interest. I have a job line up after I graduate. It is not a school for everybody. But it is the school for me. It is most definitely not a scam.
In the film world all that matters is your experience and your Reel. A degree is not something that is generally looked for. But that being said, Flashpoint is a brand new school. It is in the accreditation process. Degrees are coming. They just cant offer them yet

No. No you don't. It's not even accredited. My advice is to skip this school and go somewhere else.
