  • Just replaced my door handle, had to watch your video a couple time to get the wire disconnected. But in short, it was simple and watching this really helped. Thanks A LOT for posting! I dont have to roll down the window to get out, and thats GREAT !

  • Thnx a lot for this video as I will be changing mines this weekend it will really help me out. I just wish you could have shown a better picture of the screw used to replace the rivet. Would you happen to know the size of that sheet metal screw so I can pick one up.

  • @Mynahboy You could probably use some 1/4" sheet metal screws.

  • I have to say I'm glad I found this video. Very helpful instructions and it also led me to their website where I purchased my door handle. Now I no longer have to look ridiculous by rolling my window down and opening my door from the outside.

  • I replaced the door handle. When I manually lock the door from the inside then unlock to get out the door will not open. The lock mechanism is not moving far enough to completely unlock. I can use my hand to pull on the rod and the mechanism will move further and I can open. Any ideas?

  • @rookie1665 You may want to double check the rod to see if it's connected in the correct spot.

  • Nice job!

I like the "advanced techniques" for removing the rivet!

  • Me too exactly what I need to know, thank you!

  • Thanks. Great videos sir.

  • Why do you drill holes again? I didnt understand

  • @PureSharpShooter30 We had to drill out the factory rivet to remove the handle. When you place the new handle on you can use a sheet metal screw, as shown in the video.

  • Thanks! I appreciate the auto tech info as well as you taking the extra time to hassle with moving the camera and making sure the video was for the benefit of the viewer. Which I know seems logical and common sense to you. But have you seen some of the OTHER videos on YouTube...? Thanks, again. Great post.

  • @stanisbell Thank you for visiting our auto repair channel.

  • I found this video 100% accurate. I purchased a handle from them, watched the video, and followed it exactly. I am quite impressed with 1aauto.com.

Would like to see a machine screw included in the package but other then that, it went in quick (about 30 minutes) and works great.

    Thanks guys

  • That is great help Thank You.

  • Would Realy Like A Video That Shows How To Remove The Rear Speakers That Are By The Rear Tailgate/Barndoors!!!!

  • This is exactly what I needed, thanks!

  • @nucleoid You're welcome. Thank you for checking out our YouTube auto repair channel.

  • Do you have a video that shows how to put the bar that goes from the cylinder to the lock back on? (2004 chevy silverado)

  • @anotherthompson We do not at the current moment. On most vehicles they either hook in there, or hook in and have a little plastic clip that flips over the rod and holds it securly in place. Hope this helps.

  • how big is that speaker in the door?

  • @x22fighter We don't have the vehicle here to measure it for you anymore. It looks like it may have been 4" or 6"

  • Thanks!

  • I don't mean to pick you apart. I've got some pretty handy information from your videos. I just wanted to give you and viewers a heads up that the 88-93 or 94 trucks have a completely different interior. Just to clear up any confusion for people. Great work on the vids! Keep it up!

  • What about outside handle

  • @bboprob At the current time, we do not have a video that covers the outside handle on this vehicle.

  • Thanks! It was very helpful. I couldn't have done it without the video and your explanations.

  • Is it the same procedure for the rear doors? Interior rear door handle won't do anything on my 98 Yukon and hope the handle just came unhooked from the cable

  • @randomhero713 The rear door may be similar to the fronts.

  • Excellent video, replaced my driver side handle in about an hour on my 1999 GMC Suburban!

  • so awesome! 3 out of 4 doors have busted handles on the inside on my tahoe. thanks for the vid!

  • Thank you Now I know how to do the job efficently

  • thanks a bunch...I couldn't figure out this damn handle lol

  • THIS WAS SO HELPFUL. IT KEPT ME FROM "HULK SMASHING" THIS DANG DOOR HANDLE.

Thank you so much for posting this.

  • You saved me a bunch of money that I don't have! THANK YOU SIR!

  • this helped out lot... thanks alot

  • if the handle itself is broken in half and i have slid it out of the plastic holder you said to drill out.. can i just undo some of the top hex bolts holding the metal door panel on and pull it back enough to get behind then slide a new handle threw the plastic holder without drilling the rivet then hook it onto the handle rod and be in business?

  • @ph3q Honestly could not tell you without being there and seeing exactly what you are talking about, but it sounds possible.

  • Cool, thank you very much.

  • thank you for making these.. been searching endlessly for how to's on a 1996 Tahoe door panel. Just looking for rear door panel instructions now.

  • @vinniev2222 rear panel is similar. I'll try to get this truck back to do that vid.

  • So you replace the rivet with the 3/4" long bolt?

  • @jmp0488 Yes Coarse thread bolt

  • @1aauto Will doing this procedure on my 99 Tahoe fix the front passenger side door handle? my doors sag a tiny bit and people have yanked on the handle so much and so hard, it has just gone limp as of this morning, it does not even open the door; it acts as if it were not connected to anything.

  • The best step by step video on this truck for door handle replacement.

  • Is this demonstration aplicable to a 98' chevy?

  • @red0means0go '98 Chevy ? What model?

  • @1aauto I have a C1500, with a non-powered window and lock

  • @red0means0go Same process you will just need to remove your manual window crank handle. We have a video for that.

  • Someone asked if 1A Auto's door handles are plastic. Ours are made like the GM but they are strenghtened in the areas they tend to break.

  • thank you

  • Removed my door panel to replace a broken door handle on a 99 Tahoe with 155,000 miles. I ordered the replacement from 1AAuto. Shipped promptly and fairly priced. I didn't have to disconnect the electrical connections for the windows, lock and power seats. Just the speaker wire. I let the door panel hang on the electrical. It was easy to work around the door panel to replace the door handle. I used a panel tool but still broke one clip but I'm not very experienced. Thanks for your help 1AAuto!

  • great video. very detailed.

  • WOW! What an excellent video.

I had replace the outer door handle last year on my Yukon.

This year the inner door handle- this video was a great tool- very well made.

100% of the reason I purchased from you- although prices & shipping were good reasons too.

    Thank you 1A Auto!

  • great vid, really helped. got it fixed and good to go.

  • Thanks for the video! saved me time and money!!

  • Nice job guys.

  • thank you so much! my 99 K1500 has 333,000+ miles on it. got everything hooked back up and even the window works. only little frustration is the drivers side lock. it is real difficult with the key and the interior lock. I replaced both the outside handle and the inside and I think all is hooked up correctly but it is still hard to work. least of my worries at this point. again, thanks loads

  • Can you give me some info on the bolt please

  • @dkozicz It is a coarse thread sheetmetal bolt that is 3/4 inch long with a 7/16 or 1/2 inch head.

  • Thanks for this video tutorial. I went to your website and purchased the interior door handle pictured in this video. I found the price to be good and the construction of the handle to be good also. I used a putty knife to pull the panel studs trying to go as careful as possible and still broke 2 studs. I suggest that you offer the proper stud removal tool and some extra studs as an add on sale with the door handle. That way everyone wins. Thanks for the video and product. A+++++

  • usually what is the price of the replacement door handle on a 99 tahoe

  • @TheDirectorPro Our website 1AAuto dot com will tell you exactly what the price is delivered to any contiguous U.S. address.

  • This is a great video, all of your videos are phenomenal. Will buy my parts from you because of this.

  • Excellant tutorial. Saved me 100.00 dollars by doing ot myself.
