If your singing lessons can be saved by such exercise, its best you seek a vocal instructor before you really damage your voice especially if your career is depended on it.
I agree with what he's saying...I'm just a little uncomfortable with the fact that his speaking voice doesn't sound that healthy. I'm getting over vocal injury and I'm seriously considering this approach. Has anyone done this method and had a bad experience?
I had a vocal cyst crisis about 1 year ago. I did one month with the best SLS coach from my country (Brasil), and i made a removal surgery 3 months ago. I can tell you that SLS changed my life. (I also have phonotherapy). Few months ago i wasn´t even speaking, now is so easy to sing. I NEVER yell it. Take care of your voice, search for good doctors, and your voice will gets better.
Hmm odd, i can get nearly to soprano(comfortably) with this excercise but on excersice 2 i can HARDLY get to the middle of Tenor.
I do not get it, any care to tell me why this may be?
Also if it helps any there is a video of me singing on my page, THIS IS NOT A PLUG FOR THE VIDEO, the ONLY reason im saying look at the video is if the person who is kind enough to answer my question may want to hear my voice for better insight on my problem.
These videos give an overview to how the method works and is applies. It does *not* replace a real life individual, face-to-face vocal lesson with a well trained vocal teacher! The range at the very end should *not* be sung if it makes you feel uncomfortable or even hurt. Remember that Riggs mainly works with professionals so don't feel forced to sing all the way up! It does not mean you're a bad singer if you can't. It just means that you need proper face-to-face lessons with a good coach.
I did a year of lessons with a teacher who was supposedly one of the best in the UK. It cost a fortune to discover that I didn't understand what she was trying to teach me because of her over-complicated technical jargon. I Did ONE SLS lesson and I made more progress than i had in 6 months with the other teacher. It all depends on how you absorb info. But alot of these teachers have only got one way of approaching a problem and if can't absorb it, they can't help u but they'll keep charging u
he said that "the instruction for exercise three are the same for exercise one..." :) and in exercise one, he introduced the motorboat. :) hope this helps :P
Thank you for uploads, this has really made a world of sense and put a great voice to my singing, i cant thank you enough. ^^
