prefer both rory and srv to eric clapton who as good as he is i just find him dull compared two ive mentioned and page, green etc. beano album is great and that was clapton at his best, still not as good as rory or srv though.
Clapton said Rory was the guitarist that got him back into the blues, I think a true blues musician never gets out of it. Gallagher aside from being technically brilliant, was lyrical, excelled when improvising and taking the songs to different places, never playing them the same way twice, always interesting. SRV, Slash all those guys are fantastic and out of all the shredders I like Satriani Best, but Gallagher had that folk sensibility as well, a musician's musician, played because he had to
this man was the blues god clapton was overrated compared to rory i mean he sounded like robert johnson when he played that slide guitar as he said some people are shocked when they here this well i play guitar and i was shocked he is the man
the reason rory,s not as well known is he didnt want to be like hendrix or clapton he hated all the fame and attention he liked to play in local pubs and clubs and have u seen the interview with slash even he doesnt know how rory did some of the stuff he did on guitar so that says a lot clapton was good in the 60,s and early 70,s but hes nowhere near as good today as in those days whereas rory never lost it
@shredmaster100 yes but rory died before he was 49, when clapton was 49 it was still the late 80s, and like I said he was great back then, I don't take to much notice of what people like slash says, cause he is one person, he does not play blues, so he is not the best person to understand it anyway, the same as rory would look puzzled at some of randy roads stuff, I am going of what I have witnessed live, the clapton show was out of this world, and he is were he is because he has it
@shredmaster100 I still say SRV was one of the best blues players ever, I only started to get into blues again this last year, I wish srv was around today, would love to have seen him live, his brother is pretty dam hot as well, srv never compaird himself to others, he just played for the music, which is what it is all about, he did some great unplugged stuff, their is a 10 min unplugged clip on here that is amazing
@shredmaster100 well most people me included, like claptons tone, the touch he has, it is not the most complex stuff these days, but he has that nice touch, it is as if he is playing blues even when he isnt, he just has that thick touch of the strings, that seems to sustain into the note, I would personally rather go to see clapton than say joe satriana, joe would be doing more complex stuff, but clapton would be better to listen too, for me anyway,
@shredmaster100 clapton is cabable of doing complex stuff, and in the early days, he did, but he probably realized that he did not have to do all that fancy picking to get people interested, most people like to here a good riff here and their with some nice singing over say a guitar hero, a guitar hero to me just sounds boring after 25 mins, live that is, I would sooner listen to some good music and singing than say surf with the alian for 2 hours
@shredmaster100 lol I saw clapton in the 80s, best fcking gig I ever been to, everything was perfect, it was crazy good, clapton is were he is because the people think he is great, and he writes very good stuff that stick in the minds of people, he writes number 1s, I hear people comparing others to clapton all the time, the fact of the matter is, everyone is different, all these people saying he's better ect, well they just different, who are we to judge, we never made it they did ?
I wish more people would watch and LISTEN! Nobody better....except Lightnin Hopkins. Just my opinion. Just my 2 personal favorites. Beautiful stuff. *sigh* Thank you for sharing this with the world. xx "Jenny"
