@theBLACKRENAISSANCE I'd add that it's really reminiscent of Stewart Copeland of The Police, and he's a heavily-trained worldbeat drummer. Check out his rim clicks and timing on the tune "Reggatta De Blanc."
I really like the drums on Regatta, but not the song itself.
I'm putting a band together and I want all the musicians to understand the sound that I want produced. "700 mile Situation" has my favourite kinda Drum pattern, and the the end of "You Got Me" by The Roots has, also "Call Waiting" by Zap Mama. I'm almost certain their is a specific name/genre for that drum pattern/music style. Anyhow, you can check out my stuff if you want, search AHIBLUEBLACKmusic. Thanks for the assistance.
My wife and I met her in 2001 at the Double Door in Chicago. She asked what are favorite songs were, and when I told her this was mine, she stopped signing the autograph and gave a small smile. Kinda let me think that there was something extra special and quite possibly really true about the song.
Long distance will kill ya, baby!!!! One of my fav songs ever.
One of my favorite albums of all time. I mainly listen to "Real Rap", and classic rock, and she put me on another tip, i had her cd in my changer for 2 years straight.
This is incredible! I found out about her through Santigold! She's so amazing. I can't believe wikipedia doesn't even have that much info about her! You got a fan, Res! <3
I remember years ago, I saw RES singing in a Tower Records in downtown Philly. I got to talk to her and she was mad cool and she sounded awesome. This was one of my fave songs by her. Shame not too many ppl have heard her music.
This song speaks to my soul. All the words are so accurate!

love this, but it sounds like someone is making fart sounds with their mouth throughout the song. 1:20 for example.

What style of music would someone say the drum pattern on this song is. Drum N' Bass, Trance, Ambient? What style or genre is it.
theBLACKRENAISSANCE 1 year ago
@theBLACKRENAISSANCE I'd call it reggae/ska-influenced funk.
How I do? ;^)
Grymmorgan 1 year ago
@Grymmorgan
I would say it's more Ska-influenced funk though, Reggae beats are less layered.

@TranceRevolved I think a lot of her followers are not main stream listeners and it's a shame the record industry don't push real artist.
