Totally unrealisted. On this simulator bike when it leans you feel as though u are going to fall off the bike. Without the motion of forward travel there is no centrafugal forces holding you into the bike and as stated by others, counter-steering, balance etc. Completely pointless exercise. If you want to feel what its like try booking a CBT on geared bike.
oh and if it was a good game instead of something that looks like midtown madness, you want something that you feel like youre on a gsx1000 not an average bike body strapped to 1" steel box section in a silly little room with a 6' telly!
typical uni students oh weve done well, wouldnt if someone privately done this, my gripes are 1st the sheer noise, why not have blaring speakers so you can actually get immersed, smoothness, countersteering, wheelying when too much power is applied, general twitches to name but a few, if you build something like that then it has to be the dogs, just for all you people who say dont be harsh, theres some amazing aero and car racing sims that have hardware to die for...
I'm late but I want to add that at speed any greater than stationary, there is still countersteering involved. Yes, at low speed you will turn into a left hand turn by turning left, but before that occurs there is slight countersteer pressure applied to initiate the turn. Don't believe me? Try it.
why dont they just have the screen on the visor and sound in the helmet and then sit on the bike and do all of that, better yet why not get the real fucking thing
They realise it's still basic. No suspension lift and dive, no lateral movement, for lock-ups, slides etc. no counter-steer, no Triumph Triple exhaust note!! Not an arcade simulator, but far from true to life. Does it take note of rider lean, or peg steering i.e. rider movement to influence bike position, not just steering, which is only used marginally at anything but slow speeds - KEEP GOING guys...
Flawed in so many ways unfotunately. You should have used a test rider to develope your software that has technical knowledge of the physics of riding. That looks no different to a SEGA arcade machine from the 90's.
my guess is that nobody in that room has a motorbike license, so why they designing a bikes motions through different scenario's...... WHEN THEY HAVE NEVER DONE IT.....maybe im wrong!
didnt notice that but yeah if it hasnt already then needs to have pressure sensors or something on the handels to detect push ups and push downs to lean the bike as its the only way to ride a real motorike unless this is a moped simulator lol
A two wheeled vehicle can be steered by leaning from side to side, without touching the handle bars (quite different from 4-wheeled vehicles). Does this simulator reproduce this behaviour - the comments in the video suggest that it only responds to the steering wheel for direction?
Sorry, but you cannot steer a bike without touching the handle bar... This statement is completely wrong... if you lock the handle bar and try to lean the bike over no matter how much u try it will not turn... the process required for a bike to turn at high speed is called Countersteering...

there's this little thing called "counter-steer" and it also requires much less input than that
pk339 2 years ago
The movement is not smooth at all. Should use servo motor actuators. Also give it another axis.

you counter steer a bike to turn! these guys have obviusly never even riden a motorcycle .. you turn the bars left to drop the bike on its right!
DJAv1d 2 years ago 11
That is correct at speeds over 30-40km/h, but yeah, it seems to be inaccurate.

This sucks... Where's the COUNTER STEERING? And the leaning? And EVERYTHING... Cmon, a lot of things to work out on this
SheebMaster 3 years ago 8
I hope I'm wrong, but that's absolutely misleading and awful... You are going to kill future riders...
Ok, what I'm talking about is that it looks like you are using steering in the direction of the turn to turn at higher speeds. WRONG!
When you start moving faster then about 10 mph (15-16km/h) u have to countersteer to lean into the turn... push on the right handle bar to go right.
Please, fix it in future use.
