  • For those of you who want to make political hay from this, you can place the blame on both parties equally, they both are on the take from whoever has the bucks. And you know it so stop with the bullshit

  • that's a volcano vain

    impossible to stop it

  • "His administration," obviously, referring to Bush's. Also, Bush's father got his start in the oil industry before entering politics.

Here's a good, tho incomplete, list of connections between Bush's administration and Enron, specifically. It would be unfair, however, to place all of the blame on him; the government has been failing to protect the American people from the oil industry for decades. The Republicans were simply more motivated by private gains and the Democrats were just spineless.

  • We can land a man on the moon, but cant stop an oil spill

  • I don't understand why they can't weld a sleeve on the pipe that is leaking oil with an open valve on it and then just turn off the valve...it is too late to lay blame everywhere, it just needs stopped!

  • Ahhhh but it BUSH were in office it would be HIS fault but now that the "Messiah" is in office it's not his fault?

  • @Melcalrrt Actually, it would be more reasonable to blame Bush than Obama because his administration had very clear ties to the oil industry. Many of his staff went on to be appointed to boards positions of oil companies due to their connections. Democrats generally get elected by people with environmental interests and they, like all politicians, work to be reelected.

It's not about Obama, it's simply that 1) he's not in bed with oil and 2) he actually took action.

  • they dont even have the date right on the camera! bunch of idiots cant even get that right!

  • whats bp?

  • @mcSHTT "British Petroleum"

  • We Americans are so far behind...advanced robotics could be used by us to solve this problem. Advanced robots could be used to do coal mining (29 miners died 7 months ago) the 'blow-back' valve is junk A robotic valve could have been used. America could 'lead' another technical revolution..advanced robotics...if we can BELIEVE IT!! NOT robotics...ADVANCED ROBOTICS!!

  • @AnimePlanet7 "We Americans are so far behind"... behind who/what?!?!

  • @BeingLiberal101 Everyone!!!

  • @aztecking21122012 There is a difference between being modest and being a buffoon and you are being a buffoon!!!

  • @AnimePlanet7

i sor fail this is the information age any new technology is the worlds to hold

  • @AnimePlanet7 we are only claiming technology ,but still know a little ,lying is still a huge source of profit, talk about politicians!

  • Need to engineer some type of fome bases underwater sealant that reacts with oil or some other agent to seal hole in ships ...instead of burning money feeding lazy people and illegal immigrant. The Taliban is burying bombs in the US but Oblama says not yet brothers! lol

  • Well, humanity had a good run, good luck in the end times everybody, try not to keep your eyes closed through it! I really enjoy how people are still trying to make this about Obama, personally I can't stand the guy, but this is completely out of his hands too! He's a puppet just like every other American president.

  • @goldenmoleful

    lol i agree

  • Now that we have free health care, At least shamoo get to go to the Doctor.

  • We are a terror to ourselves and every other creature.

  • As Lebron James Advertisment board say, "We are all Witnesses"

  • Wachiperro, you sound like your infected with "Let me drive my car & check your oil" syndrome.

  • Then as long as we all die the death, "I'm ready".

  • Luv2suckfemaletoes: You're a psycho wack-job! I hope you never crawl out of whatever hell hole you're in, for everybody's sake.

    Psycho

  • @Luv2suckFemaleToes Yeah you're right, every human should be destroyed. Starting with you.

  • the Light of the World, Let men see your anger with this. No Peace, No Love towards the ignorant, ungrateful, irresponsible, the human who thinks he wise and smart, The ones who thinks they need oil to survive, No Love, no peace. But destruction to all.

  • Well, I hope evolution changes sea life to live off oil.

  • curious if pouring cement would work????

  • you blame the pressure and all stuffs.... but why didnt they had a forecast of sometin like this would happen? you mean they have no capability to predict such kind of disasters will happen? when you go inside a room... you surely have to remember the exit isnt it? we should always anticipate this kinds of events so when something breaks we have a quick remedy... youre not destroying your business sir, youre ruining my family's future and so on!

  • Dr.Rockso, you are an idiot. They are working on it? Really?? Why is BP running the show, telling U.S. what to do? Why is the national news being muzzled along with the government? They need to inform the United States citizens about what this really is, a disaster. Gulf Coast will never be the same. BP is trying to seal leak without losing profits. If 2 + 2 = 4, then why not have a steel box that takes 2 weeks to make on standby in case of a "hypothetical" disaster? Didn't work anyway....

  • this is the end of civilization

  • why dont they just drain the water around it and make an oil ocean so we can just go to the beach and fill up our car?

  • kz... agreed. its much harder than you think it is to "just cover it up"

thats a lot of oil, and a lot of pressure pushing out against anything that would be tried to be lain over the top. but i think that they could probably put a large pipe, or vent over it and suck it all into tankers, transport it out, filter out the water, and

    ta-da oil!

  • Wow... there are some dumb people watching this vid.

  • @kz1000ps

how about we care about the spill b/c its serious? Ur stupid for not caring about it. and besides, ur watching it too! so go f*** urself

  • @lolitylols Who said I wasn't taking this seriously? I'm appalled by the fact that some people are so unaware of what's going on that they're saying stuff like "why don't they just cover it?" .... that really saddens me.

And why are you taking this so personally? Must every youtube comment end with "fuck you" ? Jesus tap dancing christ people grow a brain.

  • why don't they just stop the oil pumping? the marine life is at stake, my goodness. so right this second, all these oil are still pouring into the ocean? freaking ridiculous!

  • why dont they just cover it up?

  • so, what's wrong with this happening?

  • @cjfbio2 I thought that too. To at least clear the mud away from below the busted BOP so they can attach another one. They do have devices to cut the pipe off even, so they can place a 10 inch compression fitting with a valve one it,, then close the valve. They would not need to reduce the pressure. This is about using the leak as an excuse to get three more wells up and running fast without red tape and investigation delays.

  • They use windows xp ? no wonder they still have oil problems !

  • Does anyone know how far the camera was from the leak when it took this shot? I'm trying to determine the scale of the shot in feet left to right

  • wtf are we doin to fix this? this is f*d up sh*t. stop the politics and just get this sh*t fixed NOW.

  • @anakngaraw85 They are working on it. It's not like in the movies man, you can't just accomplish anything you want just because you really really really need to, and you've got Bruce Willis to lead the team. Real life doesn't work like that. Do you really think they aren't trying to stop this leak? It has nothing to do with politics, it has to do with physics, and engineering. 2 + 2 isn't 5, not even if you really super duper need it to be 5 just this once so everything can work out.

  • I'm guaranteeing the conversation went something like this:

"The Left is really pissed about the oil in the Gulf"

"True, you're not looking like 'the environmental president"

    "What can I do?"

"You could gets some tv-face time and give a presidential mandate for fuel standards that won't take effect till 2017?"

    "Good! Set it up"

  • God, this is horrible. Think of all the marine life that is being lost every second. =/ Isn't the Golf also a migratory path for whales?

  • @FallenShards No.. Golf is a game you play on a GOLF course....

  • @FallenShards and its where the biggest and most beautiful reefs are. therefor fish lay there eggs there and we are probly ganna lose aa whole generation of fish wich will create a problem beyond are ability to help....

  • seems like the cud ram a new pipe into the existing hole in the earth..then cap the pipe at the top, or even install a valve so that they cud go back and glean theyre damn oil. i think what some ppl are saying is right...these oil companies r greedy..i think that they are makng this footage available so they can justify gauging oil prices later.."u saw it for urselfs folks"..

  • @jayabhaen it's "could" not "cud", "their" not "theyre", and "clean" not "glean". Your entire argument has been undermined by your inability to correctly use the English language.

  • I don't understand why they don't use a large compression fitting, with an opened valve. There plans all have to do with ideas involving retrieving oil, rather than capping it permanently. There are cement fixes, and other plugs, you ram in the pipe, but can't be removed.and are permanent. No leak means NO NEW WELLS on the sly, which each will produce 100s Billions each, Greed is guiding there hand. Take over the well and stop the leak.

  • @SeekTruthinLight

You are suggesting that we (as in this inept government) take over the well ?

How many new wings of white house desks would that create?

    This "president" is a buffoon

  • @kimmbattaMontana i agree 100% there is a way to shut off the well but they arent for some retarted reason the president made. and now they have them putting chemical (WHICH HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED ON ANIMALS SO IS PROBLY MAKING IT WORSE) that dissinagrates the oil. so now theyve already ruined the whole east coast and they dont even know it

  • @kimmbattaMontana Actually there are many American companies who could cap that well, like those who worked on the wells in Kuwait. The point is, there focus, day one, should of been capping the well not placing a container over it so they can resume production, they are stalling to salvage the well, hence the three proposed additional wells, which are underway, otherwise they would be pumping in the clogging cement first.

  • Jerome...its not a pipe its a whole in the earth from where the pipe used to be...Sorry bro

  • What's taking this too long to repair? Why not just turn off a valve to stop the leak? Please, I still wanna live!

  • @jeromeworld007 there is a turn off switch but they dont wanna turn it off because thats there greatest oil rig so there being stinchy about it. wat the real question should be why dont you shut it off and drill somewhere else

  • @Amanda1763 That is ridiculous. If they could turn it off they would have. It isn't BP pumping the oil into the gulf, it's the pressure from below. Oil isn't man made ya know, it comes up out of the ground naturally all the time. The problem here is that BP essentially punched a hole in a gigantic water balloon filled with oil under the ocean floor, and they can't figure out how to plug it. The top kill method worked in Kuwait, but Kuwait isn't thousands of feet under the ocean.

  • Blsway01 How does this have anything to do with Obama? The repubs in office before him relaxed laws that could have prevented this kind of accident.

I for one am definately still voting for Obama.

  • thats terrible!

  • Still voting for Obama next time? Do something.

  • Is the pipe just cracked, or is it completely broken into two separate halfs

  • I'm only mentioning Katrina since everyone keeps bringing it up...Katrina was a ENGINEERING MISTAKE!!! As is this...this could have been avoided, much like Katrina.

  • @bacintllc british pollution

  • wasted,,,,, oil......

  • just end it there and drop a big beice of rubber in the hole

  • Which is not to say that this is both tragic...and exorbitantly expensive in both the waste and the cleanup.

  • The BP executives are sitting there crying...all they see are dollar bills being spewed into the ocean.

  • The worst part about this? All that wasted oil...

  • I assume the earth will filter this anomoly and life will recover. I anticipate I'll get flamed now but I am just curious and my question is genuine. Couldn't a similar thing have been caused by a volcano or shifting plates?

  • @dbonomo123 A volcano, no. It a different activity, Lava is still toxic but not in the same way as oil is. As far as shifting plates, it's a possibility, but very unlikely since humans have to dig really deep to get to the fossil fuels and just a crack in the earth wouldn't produce such a disastrous effect.

  • I have a question. This is oil is a naturally occuring element? Minerial? Resource? Product? i'm not sure, but it is leaking into the ocean. The ocean is also a natural body of water and a delecate ecosystem. However, this is not man made chemicals or smog polution it is the earth leaking into the earth. I assume the

  • @rockynrockyrock : you're an idiot.

  • I don't understand why a giant metal flexable tube can't be put over it to suck up the oil and transfer it to where it can be stored.

  • @cliffistheman The spill is so far down that a "giant metal" anything would collapse under its own weight.

  • @rockynrockyrock I live in Louisiana and ALOT of us "dumb fucks" Thrive on shrimp, oysters, and other seafood to support our familys. not to mention the Our wet lands that hold alot of our crawfish market and this Crude oil WILL Effect us in a large way. so why don't you step back and take a look through our shoes.

  • Jeesus I wonder how the idea of shredded golf-balls is supposed to stop it. That is one hell alot of oil. I hope their new idea works, although it's centered on getting their money back.

  • @rockynrockyrock i dont think i have nearly enough room in a YouTube comment post to even begin to tell you everything wrong with your statement...

  • Rocky, Just die!

  • @s0kr4tes

And America hates you. We are all in agreement.

  • not really good with this kind of thing but, am sure the flow is coming from somewhere, why can they just stop the flow itself instead of just tryin gto plug the leak. Am sure there is a handle u can turn somewhere to stop the flow to the pipe or i guess its not that simple

  • @geass360

Unfortunately it isn't that simple. The oil is flowing right out of the ground where they drilled, and BP decided not to spend the $500,000 to put in a sonically controlled shut-off valve.

  • @buckwheat691999 Well i guess that's what they get when a company that am sure has a huge income for them decided not to spend that much incase of when things like this happened, now look where we they are, they are probably loosing millions when they could have spent as little as $500,000.

  • @446345 How is this the Presidents fault? How does his race affect an oil rig blowing up? Did he go on board and explode it? You are an IDIOT!

  • @buckwheat691999 the same way you guys blamed bush for katrina

  • @redfox435cat

I never blamed Bush for Katrina, you see, because I am intelligent enough to realize he can't control the weather nor create hurricanes. Too bad you aren't intelligent enough to realize that the color of a man does not make the man; It's what's inside. I state again that there is no way an intelligent person could blame Obama for this tragedy unless you have information somehow proving he was on the platform??? Was he there? I think not.

  • @buckwheat691999

I don't think anyone blames Bush for Katrina. It was the grossly negligent response by the various government agencies in place during his administration.

I don't think the unhurried response to this disaster was so much blatant racism as obvious classism: Just a bunch of poor folks that the right-leaning government could care less about who happened to be mostly African-American.

  • Why do people keep blaming Obama for not doing something - last I checked, the gov doesn't have a department for underwater drilling and repair. Katrina was different, the gov should know how to distribute food and water and evacuate people. People think Obama will swim to the bottom of the ocean and seal the leak with his x-ray vision?

If the gov is to blame, it is for the trend over the last 3 decades of deregulation and deferring to corps. How many recent probs can be linked to that?

  • @ksjazzguitar

Why not doesnt he think he's God?

  • @ksjazzguitar the same way you guys blamed bush for katrina

  • @ksjazzguitar not true ,the government should protect its people from a flood of oil from bp that threatens well being of costal people and the little fish!!!!!

  • So sad.....

  • I feel as if all hope, regarding the future, is lost. This video is a reminder.

  • @austinryder90

Congratulations, you just won the prize for the overstatement of the century. If this takes away your hope for the future you need some serious psychiatric help.

  • @pintodw And you feed the fire to the flame war. Great job at contradicting nothing.

  • emergency plan fail + pr spin fail = epic fish & wildlife fail

arrest all top bp execs & put them in that water until leak is stopped, set an example for the ages

  • why dont we clog that hole with obama, whose with me?

  • If BP can't fix this in time, the pressure buildup in the leak will implode, thus causing an even larger oil leak. Whenever something leaks from openings, the leak will cause pressure on the surrounding walls, deteriorating them and causing the opening to implode into an even bigger opening. This especially occurs in the ocean.

  • Just use a nuke on it.

  • "Trust me", they said - BP, Bush, Obama, Cheney, ...

  • I'm confused on this whole situation. Why cant they stop that?

  • @crjb78 i know right just put a huge rock on top of it

  • why not load your robotic-sub with thermite and plow it right into the plume? It would turn everything to molten and then the sea water would quickly cool the metals sealing off the leak.

What ever is done should had been done within three days of the incident.

  • @jthummel ... right ... ummm there is gas pooring out as well, that would give a nice explosion and blow the Gulf of Mexico to Kingdom Come ... and all the other Oil Rigs would fell the effect as well ...

  • @NobbyBear08 funny when they blast the leaks shut above ground no one worries about the other rigs....maybe you have a better idea?

  • @jthummel "why not ...sealing off the leak."

Or make an even bigger leak, that could never be repaired.

  • @ksjazzguitar

well sir they seem to have no problem blasting the above ground rigs which incidently have much OXYGEN around which incidently is one of three key ingredients needed to make fire...I can tell your probably an MIT grad and so you already know these things, Right?

  • I hope this spill bankrupts BP & at the same time helps the other / more responsible oil companies establish firm disaster recovery plans for future spills. BP was totally unprepared for this disaster & that fact is unacceptable.

Furthermore, they should hold the owner / operators liable for this incident (as well as future disasters) WITHOUT financial limitations / caps

  • @tarponcaster

Oh, come on. It's not like the other oil companies are any more responsible. I'm certain they'd be just as unprepared as BP for accidents of this scale.

  • too bad they can't capture all of this great oil
