This song gives me chills when I hear it. All I can think about are all the people who are in danger or even dying as I listen to the music and watch my local forecast. But I guess that's the whole point of it.
This song is beautiful and dramatic! When I heard it again this year for Hurricane Gustav, it made me cry. It just fits the emotion and the drama of a Hurricane. Gives me goosebumps. Thanks for posting this one!
Does this music play every time a hurricane is gonna hit cause I remember it playing other times... or music like it. Just the other day when Gustav hit there was a music almost like this one if not the same.
The best of the weather on the LDL Bar showing is: Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Greenville, SC, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.
Where I live (Texas), I was heard that Katrina would hit our little apartment in College Station. Nothing happened. IIRC, there wasn't even a EAS test going on.
Even though I was in Massachusetts, I was still scared to death of this hurricane. A tad stupid from me, yes, but I had friends and family down south that I was worried about. Awesome music, 5 star.
Katrina was bigger than the entire state of Texas at one point, when its winds reached 185mph sustained with gusts over 200mph. It really exploded before it made landfall in miami florida as well. It went from depression to cat 1 in 6 hours. If it had more time over water it could have made cat 2 easily.
It was funny though because I have this song as a ringtone on my phone and apparently it is quite "famous". Dr. Jon Nese, the ex-TWC analyst, is a professor here at Penn State, and when my phone rang and played this song, he turned around and started to get a smile, saying "Breaking News! Storm Alert!" I guess he remembered it, too. :)
This songs meant I had to leave my house for days and days while Katrina came through and tore up shit with her bitchy self...I hate this song. It scares me!! :(
I live in Little Rock, Arkansas, and I remember this very hurricane and its music, too... I really thank you for uploading this video of the music... I loved it.
They overkill it now. Every system that makes landfall they go into Alert Mode. They need to go back to the way it was in 2004 when a cat 3+ was making landfall to do Alert Mode.
Ernesto and Alberto are the only Tropical Storms they went into storm alert on, everything else was a hurricane (Isabel, Charley, Ivan, Frances, Jeanne, Dennis, Katrina, rita, wilma)
Yeah goldwiser thats because it had hit New Orleans already by the time this video was taken and the airport that gives them the weather updates had no power.
I do not even know if I have anything in there, but I will be back at my other house sometime late next week; so if I do have them, they should be up by next Sunday.
I remember that night watching when Katrina was going to hit and just hearing the music you could just feel the dramatic loss of life that was about to occur and the damage. Very heartwrenching and thank you for posting this w/ the great quality in video.
The song is called "Eye of the Storm" from Stephen Arnold Music.
Makes sense they would use it during a hurricane.

It is TWC's Storm Alert, but it's part of the custom package created by Stephen Arnold Music for TWC.

This isn't heard from the Stephen Arnold music - it's the weather channel's storm alert music.

As for Dean, yeah Catagory 5 isn't too far now. It's 150 MPH now and that could increase to 160+ tommorow!

Seeing that thing on radar is frightening.
I like the music though, it sounds like someone going off to a huge war...which these people were, with a giant hurricane.
