I'm stoked about it, I hope the novel is done some justice this time around, the previous versions weren't so great, but then again the novel was never intended to be a film so the quality of an adaptation can vary depending what the director and actors do with it. Anyways I cant wait until Christmas.
It's only a question of which to see first. I love twice the DiCaprio this next winter...although it is unfortunate for both his movies to be released on the same day. Either way both have my money.
I've just seen Leo in J. Edgar. Brilliant. There seems to be no role this guy can't pull off, and make you forget who it is you're actually watching too, not many actors out there can do that. So this silly woman doesn't know what she's talking about, has she even seen the film?
As for what I'll watch, both, of course, who cares which one you see first, they'll both be memorable, I'm sure!
I just wish that the Academy get their head out of their asses and give some respect to Leo next year , they give away Oscars for Eminem and Jean Dujardin and forget about this great actor
fucking stupid annoying woman, you have an annoying accent and i dont see why ppl are laughing over j. edgar, when brad was doing benjamin butto that was some corny wak shit but it got all hyped up!
Both excited for these. The Great Gatsby is most likely to be Baz Luhman's first non-polarising film since Strictly Ballroom (for example, people will view Romeo + Juliet as a modernisation or a the Shakespere play adapted into a new dark and brutal atmosphere. People either view Australia as a tribute to Hollywood classics or an unoriginal epical film) but I'm most excited for the cast as well (Leonardo, Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton and Carey Mulligan).
I greatly enjoyed The Great Gatsby novel, though it was depressing at the end. So my money is going towards seeing it in theaters. I'm hoping it will follow the book well, though I'm not expecting it to.
Great Gatsby, all the way. It's such an awesome story and, depending on how each of the actors portray their roles, it can really do wonders for the actor's career. Especially because it's an American classic and it's been remade several times. It can get a lot of good feedback if they do a good job, which I expect them to. (just look at the cast!)
I loved the book and I really want to see how the movie turns out.
The Great Gatsby. Forever. Not even....you don't even have to ask me that. xD I am so going to the motherfucking Great Gatsby. Django can wait until I have had my fill.
I've read the book and i love it and i honestly don't find Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby its just that he is a bit too old for the role though i love him .
I sooooo want to seem him pull off a sadistic slave owner!!! I read and loved The Great Gatsby, don't get me wrong. But to see him playing the other part? It'll challenge him, in the least, I bet!!
I don't know, man. The Great Gatsby looks like its gonna be a classic but I'll go with Django. I mean Leo playing a villain in a Tarantino movie!! Something tells me Leo is gonna steal the show with an off the wall performance in that one...
Look their is no way the guy who directed leo's romeo and juliet can do justice to f. scott fitzgerald's phenomenal text in the great gatsby, no one has yet o do they focus to much time on cinematography and actors trying to win Oscars. if you want the great gatsby read the book. You can obviously tell that i will be seeing Django unchained this upcoming Christmas because i know for a fact the writing and atmosphere will pull me in after it's tarintino.
I don't think it will hurt the Oscar chances of either film, however if I went to the movies on Christmas (which I probably would never do) I would see Django, I have already read the book The Great Gatsby.
Wouldn't this be a win win?? I mean for me it is.lol. Leo is my favorite actor, so If they open on the same day..guess who is watching 2 movies that day??
WHAT? why is everyone on The Great Gatsby Side I mean there is only one clear winner Django Unchained after all this is quentin tarantino where talking about. The man who made Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2, Resivour Dogs and many more and im sure DiCaprio will also do well as always. Each to there own but to me there is a clear winner Django Unchained.
I am seriously so tired of his cherubic face. He's an ok actor, but just not interesting enough to make me excited about anything unless the movie itself gets good buzz (e.g. Inception)
This reminds me of last week when I saw in a theater a trailer for Man on a Ledge with Sam Worthington then Wrath of the Titans with Sam Worthington. Ex Con on a ledge then fighting Titans in a minute.
I cannot wait for Gatsby. My family always want to go to a movie every Christmas Day after presents and dinner and church and stuff, and the book was great.
i don't want so much dicaprio but both films sound EPIC so... at least will definitely watch gatsby (i mean COMON BAZ LUHRMANN). django, we'll have to see (with the reviews)
I've seen Gatsby and I've heard the premise for Django Unchained. Well I'm curious how Tarantino goes about this. I also want to see how Baz Luhrmann does Gatsby. and as for leo i think it's time we gave him a break. I think that Gatsby will be moved up to an earlier date.
Tarantino is rather meh in my book. I dunno who they have directing the Great Gatsby (haven't bothered to imdb it yet), but I did like the book and I do liek Leo so I'm probably gunna give that a look before the Tarantino flick.
once again, even if he very good in those movies , which I am sure he is going to be, noone would remember him by the end of the year when award season starts(((
Django all the way mainly because it will be really diffrent seeing Dicaprio play a viallain for once. It's nice to see that he is taking risks and is playing a role like this. I cannot wait to see what he does with his role in Django Unchained.
well, ever since last year when the academy snubbed him, his goal has beento win an oscar. hell keep on starring in these movoes until he has that gold statue in his hand! so yeah. INCEPTION MAMAMAMAMAMAMAM

All Baz did was just give every sixth grader in America another reason not to read the book, and pick up Cliffsnotes.
I think the assumption here is that people go to see a movie solely on the lead actor. Ehh, I really love The Great Gatsby, so that will be my priority. Doesn't mean I won't see Django. I just probably won't see it till much later in its run.
