  • no such thing as a bad zeppelin song nor album

  • i love the country vibe of this song--1 of my favorite Zep songs 4 sure

  • i don't know who did this classic blues standard origionally but if you want to hear an alt. version that,s wierd check out Odetta doing a job on this'

  • your friends will let you down, but your family will always be there for you.... love it

  • Canta pra caralho!!

    LoVZepP...

  • I've never heard Led Zeppelin before... But then I found out that Kristen Stewart is a fan of them and then I just had to listen to one of their songs:D

  • guys led zeppelin III is just as underrated as all the other albums. now a days kids dont know who led zeppelin is. all zep is good. dont be fighting about which album u like, fight over the Artist!

  • Jimmy's favorite off the album :')

  • HangMan Hang...On,To that Guitar acoustic, Lyre, Banjo and That Swingin Pole ,....Stick It Bonzo.OOh Ya.

  • 2 dislikes :)

  • 2:08 Hell Yeah!

  • LD III to me is the ultimate zep album. I mean you can impress your friends playing these songs on mere acoustic or classic guitar anywhere. Be it school, fire camp, whatever

  • DADAIST CoolBDown, INC.

  • Why do people feel the need to say how old they are and they like the band? No one gives a shit.

  • ya baby! idc if its under rated that just ruins it when everybody listens to it (:

  • I also love that he sang Leadbelly!

  • Album 3 is my fav. album for some reason, it shows off his skills!

  • i saw this live in 93 was so bad ass.

i was 13 and all these old hippies told us they had a lil weed so we broke out the biggest blunt i had ever seen at the time and all these hippies were like shit and we puffed out the hole section.we had like 5 of them it was so cool.rusted root opened.

  • YEah, I was gonna point out that Achilles Last Stand and Nobodys Fault But Mine were on presence. I think their fourth is worse (Blasphemy, I know. Crucify me.)

But III is awesome, along with PG

  • lol the two people who dis liked this must hate led zepplin

  • Love it!!!!!!

  • Hello there music appreciator.

-Do bluesy bands likes Zeppelin, Floyd, Joplin, Doors, Hendrix, and The Who give you chills? Are you physically attracted to seeking truth in music? Well I am formally inviting you to take a listen to my channel, Using your open mind take the time to hear my tunes... And in case if you end up liking it, your subscribtion to my channel will help me in changing the world with my music. Much Love.

  • I have yet to hear an equal, then you add the vocal range and passion of Plant into the equation and the mastery on 6 and 12 string of Page, my god!! what would be the odds of 4 musicians of their calibre ever meeting, let alone having the not inconsiderable luck of getting on together and writing soo many!!! good songs together. Surely this was an act sanctioned by a higher being. RIP John Bonham

  • @CharleyFarley1040 Well said my friend, well said my exact thoughts.

  • Yes John Bonham was a once in a life time genius, just like Keith Moon. They put everything into their grooves.I was lucky to see this band 2 nights running at Earls Court,London in 1975,3.5 hour sets!!

He and John Paul Jones, the bassist, probably the best rythmn section of all time.Even contemporary black session musicians are blown away by their playing and i have to argue in the studio they were white english guys!!

  • Is Led Zeppelin the only band from this era that didn't run around shooting their mouth off protesting the Viet nam war and trying to stir up trouble all the time.

THey basically just wanted to rock hard and get laid. LOL

  • is name isn't john paul jones?

  • isnt it the same as geoffrey beck? or james page? not the same ring to it!

  • R.I.P.----John Bonham----...forever missed and always in our hearts!!!

  • Hey tgforbeef21, when I was 15, LZ was my favorite band. But now I'm 44...

  • Gallows Pole IS AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my fave zepelin songs. I am 32, and I regret nvr having the opportunity to see any of these acts live.

  • 16 years, 18,19,15,12,14

    that's not important.

Important is that what you are listen and to listen right music !!!

    not shit !!!

    I love Led's, I love classic rock !!!

    And 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,100 that's just a number !!!

  • this was not originally a folk song but a blues song sry to be anal but they are different genre's, it's like describing a rock song as techno

  • I'm 15 and Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands.

  • Congratulations!

  • Same here my friend. Well, 14 O_o

This is one of my favorites for it is the only one to have a banjo and I play the banjo lol

  • (leadbelly sang this..)

  • That he did

  • I'm 15 and i love Zeppelin, I think there the best band ever :)

  • I'm a 16 year old kid and i really wish that people my age would listen to Led Zeppelin, honestly i'm very disappointed that these days an artist will come out, make one hit single, then just leave and retire to mansions. I envy all of you who grew up and embraced this music :).

  • jpj's mandoline is fun, too.

  • Nothin' better. Everyone believes they grew up with the best of all music, but WE REALLY DID, y'all!

  • I just started to listen to Led Zeppelin this year(The only song I knew before was Immigrant Song), and they are awesome! This album might be different, but "Gallows Pole" is pretty good. My 3 favorite songs are "Stairway To Heaven", "Black Dog", and "Immigrant Song".It would be awesome if Robert PLant would accept to have a reunion tour with Zeppelin. I would definitely do my best to get front row tickets.I just can't stop listening to them.

  • As a Dad! I know i grew up listening to the best that rock music will EVER offer ! I saw Zep play 4.5 hour gigs at Earls Court in 1974, twice... The accountants wouldn't let a band play that long nowadays. If you have the time, search for the dvd of thaose gigs, they played 6 nights with no break !! Simply the best they ever were. I saw them at Knebworth infront of 130,000 people, some say it was more like 200,000, as the gates were eventually broken down, but Earls Court was the best.

  • 3 is my fav. Everyone hates on it because its not regular zep

  • III is one of my favorite Zeppelin albums. Presence and In Through the Out Door are their worst (in my opinion..).

  • i disagree i personally really like presence mainly because of Achilles last Stand! that is by far one of their greatest songs

  • such a beautiful song...but im just feelin a lil hurt cos i love zep man and i can stand to read ppl being judgemental bout music thats better than what they have ever done.

age doesnt mean anything but it does effect how much you know.i only own mothership, the most recent thing to be put out there. but its got the classics.

  • @SqueezeMyLemonBabe There's no way presence is the worst Achilles last stand, for your life, nobodys fault but mine? have you listened to these songs? they are amazing let alone the fact they were recorded in 2 weeks.

  • @SqueezeMyLemonBabe Couldn't agree more. Presence is sooo weak and disoriented....

  • @SqueezeMyLemonBabe to an outsider each album would sound like a completely different band. it's Zeppelin

  • @SqueezeMyLemonBabe

They may not be as good as the others, but their still awesome, dont hate

  • @TheTwinLights Nah, not "everyone" hates on 3. I love it--one of their best!

  • i listen to this song to ease my mind , its amazing !

i wish more people my age liked this stuff !

  • 3 is my favorite (favourite?) Led Zep album.

  • I always wondered what the hard-core Zeppelin fans thought about this album (I'm too young to know, i could buy their CDs in whatever order I wanted to).

I mean, back in the early 70s when this came out, no one knew about Zeppelin IV (Zoso), or Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti being on the horizon, so maybe everyone thought Zeppelin was going Folk for good ! I wonder if people were scared or nervous about that.

  • After 1 and 2, it was a bit of a shock to hear 3. And it took a while to accept it, in my case several years, an almost folk / C&W album, totally not heavy metal / progressive music. I thought they had lost it, and it was not until HOTH that my respect for them returned. The day that will live in my heart forever (sounds sh*t, and yes I know it) would be earls court in 1975.

  • True, it's a turn on their usual stuff. But you gotta give them credit for having such a strong passion for music and being influenced to try new sounds.

"Since I've been Loving You" has always been a more personal favorite of mine.

  • early teens when this came out; expecting more of Zep 2 but listened, accepted and realized how great this album really was; still talking about it today; for the hardcore and real Zeppelin fans John Bonham's drums ALWAYS keep it rock and roll

  • It's before my time as well, but Zep I, II and III led to IV. There are hints at this style on the first two albums. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Black Mountain Side, What Is And What Should Never Be, Ramble On....they just didn't have the hardcore blues on this album. As John Paul Jones said, "Nobody compared us to Black Sabbath after this album."

  • i won't just because you and your friend are faggots.

  • i was in my friends car today and he was flipping through the radio station i heard the intro 0n 103.5 and i yelled ZEPPELIN! then they played dazed and confused, we jammed.

  • Greatest rock group of all-time. Robert Plant was oozing with swagger back then. Jimmy Page was filthy on that guitar too.

  • John Bonham was kick ASS too haha

  • also youve been at this for aparently 3 months, go find sumthing better to complain about

  • almanac, if u dont like it, dont watch it

  • I seriously want to have sex with my future wife to this song.

  • wow kiko

  • One of the top 3 Led Zep songs ever.

#1 most underrated song of all time.

    Led Zeppelin rules!!!

  • poor tom is my vote most under rated haha but yea this is the tops

  • agree.. very underated... badass song

  • temoooooooon!!

  • Can you imagine for those old enuff to remember her Janis Joplin taking the stage (had she not passed) and singing this with both vocal barrels BLASTING!?!!!!

  • ohhh baby thatd be a sick duet, Joplin/Plant

  • hangman! hangman!can u hold a little while?

  • Hangman is an old folk song.

  • yep, but still a good one. isn't it?

  • I remember playing with that LP cover for HOURS when I was a kid. Very very cool design 8)

My dad had a first run copy. Yea I'm old lol.

    -Viz

  • Man, it just doesn't get any better. I bought first album, LZ4 in the 70's, and still today I listen to these songs and hear things I missed or hadn't noticed before.

  • ncyak, As a Black man, I'm with you...the problem is that there are too (three? four?) many fools that don't understand the issue...

  • The troll was successful.

  • I should say so.

  • Zep gives credit to every artist they ever sampled....they took american blues and brought it back to america so everyone could here it...only amplified....if it werent for zep and sabbath and many others this whole f'n country would be stuck listening to country!!! Idiots....our whole country was too ignorant to pay attention until a couple of WHITE ENGLISHMEN slapped us in the face with it!! so shut th f@ up and appreciate good music

  • to all you lot arguing if you dont like this then fuck off and listen to the back street boys almanac your a twat!

  • all bands/musicians use small parts of other peoples songs in there own,it called influence.asshole plagurism is when you blatently rip off other people and pass it off as your own e.g mc hammer/rick james vannila ice/queen p diddy/everyone

  • Yeah, its like saying George Gershwin ripped off Tchaikovsky

  • i think this is one of robert plants best studio recordings voicewise. amazing...

  • Obviously, I do fancy Zeppelin. I have CDs galore of Zeppelin. I listen to Zeppelin all the time. Wouldn't change that for the world.

  • I love "Hey Hey What Can I Do". It should have been on Led Zep 3, but instead it was on the opposite side of the single, "The Immigrant Song". This song and "Tangerine" kick ass.

  • This is my favorite ZEP tune

  • Led Zepplin are plagurists, if it wasn't for them court orders they would still try and take credit for these blues songs. Rock gods indeed...

  • Look man, if you don't like Zeppelin fine, but you are in no position to say they plagaurized anything. They never stole a single song, they merely improvised and re-created.

  • I hate to brake it to yah but they did, These old blues artists had to sue to get royalities! The only reason they are credited now is cause of all the court orders.

  • You spelled "break" wrong, moron.. Shows how credible your information is. Funny you haven't mentioned the "artists" name, maybe it's because you're full of shit..

  • Sonny Boy Williamson"bring it on home",Willie Dixon "You Need Love/Whole Lotta Love", Howlin Wolf "Killing Floor/Lemon Song", Menphis Minnie "When the Levve Breaks", these just a few, and if you look it up you will proberly find the info about the lawsuits.

  • Get over it almanacofsleep. It's time to get past this.

  • mabey if people reconise that Led Zep have Plagurised then mabey I will.

  • If you go back in time through music history

music has all been made from other musicians creativity.

  • Yeah thats not Led Zeplin.

  • The greatest compliment you can receive is the act of imitation. Musicians have been doing since Mozart. Imitating but putting their own "spin" on it. That's what Zeppelin

    did. It's nothing new really.

  • Mozart didn't have copywrite.

  • almanac, you still ranting about plagurism? Geez man, can you think of anything other then that? You realize that everybody uses the same words all the time? I just did and you just did! So Idon't know what you think your point is!

  • Yeah but when you relse it and it becomes a million seller like with Led Zep then the issue of you gets royalties becomes important!

  • Didn't anyone ever tell you this: Life isn't fair. I learned this in the third grade. And in these times with our self serving politicians life is REALLY not fair. Not fair

in music, not fair in everything in general.

  • funny how you carn't seem to acept that Zep were in the wrong.

  • Funny how you can't get over anything! So can you tell me how exactly this effects you? So why is it you are so angry? Did Led Zep take money or words from you? I don't think they did and I think you're on the Zep threads just to fight!

  • looks like you carn't take the fact that they did something bad, they took money and words from a marginaised group of people, many of them lived below the poverty line. How can you defend this? You carn't your only come back is some bullshit about "musical tradition" which is something that has come straight out of your arse.

  • what do you want me to do stop listening to Zeppelin? That would be impossible to do since there in every cd case I've got. In the car about 10 cd's in the cd case/car. In the house about 12 in the cd case/house. What would I listen to when I wanted to hear the zeppelin/blues? Can you answer that question? What would I listen to?

  • The real thing.

  • Yeah>? well what's the real thing. I'm clueless. Explain yourself.

  • well go look at that video response for a start.

  • What CD would I replace for Led Zeppelin?

  • David Cassidy

  • Are you out of your mind? >LOL!!

Yeah, like I would listen to the song David

Cassidy sings, "I think I Love You"...but what am I so afraid of......afraid that I'm not sure of a love there is no cure for? LOL.

  • almanc I listened to the video response that is not as good as zep doing it! So what your saying is no one should play any music someone else has played?? If that's the case then no one should sing the national anthem either?? And there sould never be any remakes of any songs or let's see movies, for instance planet of the apes and king kong! And all the church hymes shouldn't ever be sang again, since the church is making money on them! Sing and pass the tihten plate!

  • You can play what ever you want, but I only got a problem if you try to claim you wrote it.

  • I couldn't get no silver I couldn't get no gold. Hang man hold it a little while. I think I see my brother. my brother he's coming to help me, he's going to save me, my

    brother he's going to .....

  • Also Led Zep arn't fit to carry Lead Bellys shoes.

  • It's a folk song that was credited as a "traditional, arranged by page and plant." Led Zeppelin never claimed they wrote it. What are you complaining about, again?

  • Oh yeah could have been because they werehoe do you say sued up the Jacksee for all those copywrite infringements they did and were forced to give credit viva court orders.

  • No? My original copy of the record cites it as a traditional. Even if they hadn't, you can't sue someone for "stealing" a folk song, as no one owns the rights.

  • Strawman much?

I haven't said anything about the "other song." Gallows Pole was not stolen from Lead Belly, as it is a folksong, and all of your comments implying such have been factually wrong.

If you want to rant about Led Zeppelin in general, I'm sure you can find a blog host or something that will let you do that. You can make up all the drivel you want about Gallows Pole infringing on copyright.

  • I bet if you found Robert Plant stealing your T.V you would make up some excuse to why he has the right to.

  • I bet you would claim Led Zeppelin was behind 9/11 if it would keep you from admitting you were wrong about them violating copyright law to steal from Lead Belly for this song.

  • I wasn't talking about Lead Belly per sey just how Led Zepplin are theiving gimps

  • So your comments about plagiarism had absolutely no relevance to Gallows Pole or Lead Belly? You're just one of those frothing-at-the-mouth trolls who rages at every Led Zeppelin video they can find?

Clearly Youtube is the appropriate - no, ideal - venue for you to carry out your holy crusade.

  • Oh I'm sorry did I hurt your feelings? :'( poor baby.

  • Are you serious? Is that all you have? I haven't heard that one since grade school.

Oh, wait, Youtube comments, lowest common denominator of human intelligence, right. Carry on.

  • you should find a ..........life. BITCH.

  • The original song that all of these are based on is a folk song.

Led Zeppelin credited as "traditional, arranged by Page and Plant."

    What are you complaining about?

  • Do you like repeating yourself?

  • Imagine those that remember her if JANIS JOPLIN covered this song? She'd blast it!

  • i cant find any lead belly versions of this song anywhere. what are you all talking about?

  • Theres a video response to this video you can look it up there. Its not too bad.

  • this song makes me cry...that hangman is a bitch...

  • Haha yes he is or isnt if you think about it no hangman no gallows pole lol

  • MUCH BETTER THAN 1994's No Quarter

  • Well I like the No Quarter Gallows Pole very much but yes I agree this is more pleasant to listen to. Plant's voice is much better and stronger in this version. Thanks for watching, Im glad you enjoy it.

  • Still

    The Original Is Great!

  • Zeppelin III could possibly be my favorite album..amazing. If you can, look for 'How the West was Won'. It's a compilation of many of their live shows in the U.S., hence the name. Some of the best live versions you'll ever hear on disc.

  • I honestly have no clue how some people can say this is one of their worst albums this is one of my favorite it has some really extraordinary songs on there. However, my favorite album would be Zeppelin II because thats the album that got me into Zeppelin and Ive liked it since.

  • led zeppelin III was called their worst album because of how mellow and bluesy it was

people expected pop or heavy rock or somethin

when they got this they were confused (by its excellence of course)

  • I have it and I think its great, for those of you who dont know they were origanaly a blues band.

  • This is one of my favorite Zeppelin albums, I love the acoustic tracks!

  • It's totally my favorite Zeppelin albums. This album is one of the most under appreciate album of all time.

  • Heard this version many times, but I have never heard Leadbelly's version. Is it really that good?

  • Yes. Found it by accident few months ago.

  • Yeah. It IS a folk song. I have Lead Belly's version.

  • What I meant was, Led Zeppelin derived their version from a folk song. Of course, Zeppelins version is a folk song but they "Zepped" it up I guess you could say.

  • Pozdro dla kamerki ktory ma to w opisie :PP

  • ??? Well considering that this is rated 5 stars and you're the only person who commented Im guessing you enjoy it! Im glad you do!
