  • nice channel, i subbed

  • thanks jazz guy

  • Lovano playing Coltrane, Like Sonny. Anyone else confused?

  • Cyrille is one of the very finest drummers. I think his relative lack of popularity is because drummers now assume a lot of funk and fusion influences, feel at home with them. Andrew's musical heritage is a line from the great jazz drummers with his African influences filtered through his own very considerable dedication and creativity. He is clearly one of the most interesting drummers playing today. Wonderful music!

  • damn Joe sounds great on the selmer b.a.

  • Nice job on your overall selection of jazz footage

    and different artists.

  • good to hear Lavano playing on his Balanced Action tenor again.

  • a lot of talk. none of it particularly exciting. recalls "Ken burns jazz." i certainly prefer footage to verbiage.

  • I like Cyrille, saw him twice: with ehrlich-dresser and workman-oliver lake.. not easy to find recordings of his great music

  • Absolutely. Check out 'Pieces of Time'. I saw Andrew Cyrille with Fred Hopkins and Henry Threadgill in the late 80's and Reggie Workman and a pianist a bit later. The first time I saw him he was on fire!

  • Andrew Cyrille is one of the great drummers. Why are people asleep on him?
