You're all right.. YouTube needs to ask itself, does the company REALLY care that we're freely advertising its product? No. That's what it runs on. That's what YOUTUBE runs on--the support of its fans, the people who make it what it is.

There's the word of the law and the spirit of the law. The spirit of the law is that you shouldn't use other people's work for profit.

That's not what you and others in similar veins are doing. It's using popular material in a creative way. No one will not buy a Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts game or Disney movie because you have used it as your medium; if anything they are MORE likely to buy it. While the people who get you taken down have the word on their side, they don't have the spirit.

I was one of those Editors years ago. never got a warnng but got my orginal acct. nuked. Had some decent and good AMVs that were "copyrght violations". WTF? Type "amv" into search and see the tens of thousands of hits you get. I was able to make a new account and sneak two on (BoredAsHeckInTexas) and snuck 4 better ones on Photobucket, but YT or Photobucket wont allow me to upload my better stuff. I congratulate you on your crusade and count me in.

Man, I wish! Last I looked, it was just a bunch of people with cats, idiots doing Jackass stunts, and people posting movies illegally. Which is sort of why I can see where YT is coming from when they delete stuff. I can't see an exec sitting there and deciding, "Does this video amongst many others that were uploaded just now fit to Fair Use?" Not gonna happen. I just wish there was a way to defend ourselves before videos/accounts get deleted.

I do agree with you. It sucks that people get terminated and suspended and lose friends & subscribers alike. The truth is, though, this /is/ copyrighted content we're using. We're the ones taking the risk uploading it. And our rights/thoughts mean nothing to the large companies producing all this media. While we /are/ promoting their work, we still have no real claim to it, even if we use it in video editing and amvs/gmvs/whatever.

I'm terribly sorry that your account was deleted as well because I look to your videos in particular as they are very well done. It's just that none of the media ever really 'belonged' to us to begin with. :)

@0Sejxs0 actually we are in the right since you can use copyrighted material if it is less then 10% i beleive of the material,change it somehow, and are making no profit from it. Unless you upload a movie then your in the right but youtube doesnt tell you that, they only say one of the copyright laws

Also, to some of the editors who did lose their accounts and didn't know *I didn't know at first and was in editor shock for days* but there is a way to get your account back after termination! I don't suggest uploading more AMV's onto your terminated account, but atleast your videos/channel won't be gone forever ^^ Message me if you want to know how to get your accounts back!

You know none of this would be a problem if you just did what regular AMV makers do and learn the copyright and how to get around it. And on top of that I suggest you use your backup account to upload all your videos on private, save you a lot of butthurt.

@StruttingB4 Wtf? Do you think we're stupid? We all dispute with the copyright fair use paragraph, we all try hard to avoid copyright, but the next day, it's futile. We don't think we should have to get around copyright because eventually it catches up to everyone. YT is changing, there is no more evading for long. "Regular AMV makers"? We all are regular AMV makers and we all are up to here. There is no "A" in AMV when they take down your accounts cuz you used something they had quarantined.

Even instrumental songs, trailer songs, freaking EVERYTHING is getting those little warnings that you have to dispute only for it not to work. Then you get a strike, and what then? Get the strike removed by appealing, then get another and another and one day, Oops, there's my account. I am sick of this, for all of us here. I want to be free to use a song I like and a footage I like without thinking I'm a fugitive.

This needs to be shown to everone, seriously, I edit with a TON of stuff so Ive looked around and seen videos from KH, Bleach, Lion King, Dark Knight, the list could go on forever. They all have the same problem and there are a TON of us. Face it, do you want to see someone ranting on and on on a webcam or do you want to see your favorite movie, game, or tv show edited with your favorite music. I agree with you completely and whole heartedly. I lost an account about a year and some months ago and it sucked. And honestly, it wasn't becuase I lost subscribers. It was because I lost contacts to many of my friends. I tried to recontact many of them, but lost some in the process. And I mean, sure, copyright is enforced for logical reasons, but it is a road block for those who wish to express themselves in the video-editing-world.

More like ScrewTube. Really, they screw us over so much and for what? No one claims any footage as theirs. No one goes out there and says "I own Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy."
