A war? Between the US and Mexico? That will never happen, as there are too many economic interests among the two nations, to the point where both the countries' economies are codependent (thank NAFTA for this).

Besides, with overextended armed forces and two wars being simultaneously fought, there's no way on Earth the US could possibly wage a war against Mexico, not that they would even consider it to start with.

Amen, my first job was picking up trash, second working in a produce dept. I've dug ditches, had numerous manual labor jobs. I'm just a typical white american as well who has valued having any job that paid a living wage since I was 14.

I recall the Amnesty lover McCain once said "Americans won't pick lettuce for $50/hr". Oh really? By my calculations that's $96,000/yr. Where can I please sign up for one of these jobs???

This wall is just a political ploy by the US government, it doesn't want the illegal immigration to stop cause of the cheap labour it brings, but it also doesn't want to piss off the US citizens who want it to stop, so they make it look as though they're doing something to combat it while making sure the things they do are totally ineffective.

Indeed. The wall is somehow physical "proof" that the government wants to curb illegal immigration, though in practice, it does and will do very little in this regard. The wall could work, but only if it's accompanied by good, strong legislation, something that isn't happening as of now.

Cry me a river ! get the prisoners to build the wall for free rather than having them sit in jails watching TV and working out. Oh but the schools!!! Oh but the wilderness , its communist!! Considering the growing amount of illegal immigrants in the US prison population, having them build the wall would be ironically illegal (the US government would then be employing undocumented workers) and they couldn't do it for free, as that would be slavery, which is unlawful and goes against the prisoner's basic human rights. FYI, all imprisoned workers (the ones that make license plates and dig at common graves, etc.) do receive compensation for their work.

And the "it will work because it's American" sentiment is so flawed, I wouldn't know where to begin... just look at GM or Ford, or Enron, or the US airline industry. "American" doesn't necessarily imply it will work.

The Double Layer Border Fence does work. In San Diego illegal entries were in the thousands pre fence 1995. Statistics and aerial photos clearly prove this. It is now mere dozens on a busy day. Traffic is then shifted away from the fence to more mangeable areas for the BP to apprehend them.

This is the problem with uneducated folks trying to write opinions on Youtube! Lets reference history; the Berlin Wall to be exact. Read up on it and then you tell me if a wall with guards (even with orders to shoot to kill) will work. It didn't work then, it wont work now. Lets stop being lazy and come up with a real solution for the immigration problem. Actually, I believe the Mara uses machetes and sawed-off shotguns, not AK-47s. You make a good point, but are shorthanded by the fact that the availability of cheap labor trumps patriotism and ethics in today's politicians' minds. The newly-approved immigration bill is no major progress either, what it does is complicate the already bureaucratic system to get visas.
