@saintlysimon Wow, you're so cultured. And you want to knock on about being a cock bag, you following me around making comments under mine... what a fucking sad loser you are lol.
This song by Blur is a fry cry different and slower than their big big hit Song 2. I guess I can consider this a love song, even Poison had a love song, Backstreet Boys had many. How did they come about calling this Blue Jeans, anyway you look at it, it's easy on the ears. I can't help but compare this band to The Backstreet Boys, Crowded House, Blink 182, The Bloodhound Gang, The Pet Shop Boys & David Bowie when I think of closet cases, believe-you-me! Hi Ricky & Elton, thx & THX4 potin'
Damon wrote this song in the early days of his relationship with Justine; he had just moved in with her in Notting Hill. He said last year when Blur were rehearsing for the Hyde Park gigs that hearing Blue Jeans makes him think of being 23 and in love. In 2000, when this gig was filmed, maybe he did feel the sentiment to be naive, especially considering how the relationship ended.
Beautiful Song Modern Life Is Rubish is a great art álbum better than Radiohead's Debut Pablo Honey and Suede Self-Titled àlbum.
Total Class Blue Jeans is amazing Kaiser Chiefs Are influenced for this song and Ricky Wilson make the song You Can Have It All in your Debut Employment.
Blur are influenced by The Kinks,The Beatles,The Who,The,Jam,XTC,Duran Duran,Inspiral Carpets and of Course The Stone Roses, for produced this record, psychedelic.mod, punk, new wave and English Rock.
@Bruno90s Yeh 'Leisure and Modern life is rubbish' are Blurs best work.95% of what they done later is just banal monotony for a fickle audience IMO.Suedes album i think stands on its own also and is a great album from that era.The vocals are blinding and the guitar works a symphony.
Still a great tune as of all blurs discography from leisure through to think tank and not forgetting all the b sides which hold a few hidden gems "ALL YOUR LIFE" on the beetlebum single is one of my favs QUALITY BAND good to hear there touring again hope they bring out new material
I love Modern Life Is Rubbish too: when I first heard For Tomorrow on GLR (my dad listened to it) as a kid, I pretty much decided they were my favorite band. However, without Parlife, they would probably never have even had the chance to continue. I feel it was make or break for Blur after 'MLIR', and they stepped up with an awesome pop record in the form of Parklife.
I don't like listening to live performances as much as recorded stuff but blur are definitely an exception. I definitely agree with the comment about blur being successors to the kinks. and although I like every blur album (but i don't know thinktank that well) modern life is the best by far.
modern life contains their finest work, in a weird way parklife spoiled the direction they took with their songs, they tried to distance themselves so much from that album, that they kind of ended up forgeting what they were all about..............the natural succeeders to the kinks.
MLIR was their best era... They dressed in suits, made great music and could rock without getting drunk and didn't make a bunch of songs that sound like slow crap *Cough* Think Tank! *Cough*
I hate how sometimes it sounds like they play their songs to fast...
Lovley song, i don't understand how he/they can make such a song.... It's funny, they make it quickie in the end!

Am I the only one who think the bass is mixed abnormally high here? Gets on my nerves. I can barely hear Coxon.

I had the pleasure of hearing this live a few years ago, in the Olympia in Dublin, couldn't believe it when I heard the drums at the start.
They were touring on Think Tank, so I really wasn't expecting Blue Jeans or anything like that.
What a great band.
I have Modern Life on loop in my car at the moment.....probably blur at their best.
