@Ashanti263 It depends on the type/species of turtle. Not all turtles eat meat. For example, a Red Eared Slider, or Box Turtle is not going to eat a mouse.

@LillBG Cleaning the tank is no joke. I want to invest in one of those two way flow hoses that you can hook to the sink that take drains the water AND refills the tank. No buckets, no nothing! But every single one offered has horrid reviews-- and for upwards of $60, I can't take a chance on a crappy hose.
@shadowlita I used to work a petsore, we used one of the two way flow hoses you were talking about called the "python". Costs about 60 bucks but is well worth it!

@MrReach17 From a hatchling & started on live food, she has always done this. I don't really think she is 'tenderizing' it-- I have always assumed that she is more savoring and tasting it! I say this because up close you can clearly she her press her tongue upwards against whatever is in her mouth several times from different areas, and if she doesn't like it she spits it out! So she's really just enjoying her food/playing with it. She swallows crayfish & pool fish whole.
@boy638 She doesn't eat mice everyday-- her diet has a lot of variety. When she was eating mice she'd eat 2-3 a week. Now since the weather is warmer she doesn't care for them much and has been eating a lot of crayfish and pool goldfish.

When the mice are put into the box at the pet store, they poop in there & I make sure to keep that & other debris out of the tank. And trust me, Snappers are illegal to sell or own here in NYC too although they are very popular here 'wild' in rivers and ponds believe it or not (there are snappers in Central Park!). You need a license to keep one.
I know that every Pond in most Parks have a snapper in it. I catched a middle sized Florida snapping turtle 1998 in a local Park Pond ! And that in Germany!!! Someone threw him away or something, he was basking with some sliders and one day i caught him and he was mine ;)
I had him 5 years in a Pond in my Garden he grew so much i had to let him go...

If the Tiger was eating in the wild, I would NOT say save the animal, i would take it as the course of nature. BUT YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING...........YOU ARE NOT A TIGER, YOU ARE NOT A TURTLE, and what makes humans special, is our capacity for compassion. You can feed the turtle a dead rat if you make it move around like its alive... you do not have to torture the animal like this.......why can't you understand that?

@LillBG Cleaning the tank is no joke. I want to invest in one of those two way flow hoses that you can hook to the sink that take drains the water AND refills the tank. No buckets, no nothing! But every single one offered has horrid reviews-- and for upwards of $60, I can't take a chance on a crappy hose.

@lestah69 If you're lucky to catch one then why not? I wouldn't though-- that's just me personally. But technically in the wild, anything is game for food, so I'm sure there is really nothing they can eat to make them sick. They eat dead rotting flesh as part of their diet!

@AETrainingDavid97 It has been proven that all they need is a dead animal with long tweezers and move the dead animal around like it is alive....They don't need a live animal, they need a animal that moves, you can easily fake that.... also rats are too fatty for turtles, and should be given sparingly. Turtles eat fish, and if you cannot afford that, you do not deserve to own one.

@mystictouch9 No. You need to realize that they make feeder rats for a reason. Some animals such as snakes/snapping turtles/other *aggressive* pets require LIVE FOOD. They will eat dead food, sure, but it has been recommended to feed aggressive pets live food at least once a week.
Nothing wrong was done here. If anything, the video makers simply recorded his turtle feeding and uploaded it onto Youtube. That was his own decision. And it was also YOUR own decision to watch these videos.

What they state is that, people who contribute into acts of animal cruelty, is likely to be harmful towards actual people, and their own family. If you read statistics, you will find many jailed people of violence had a history of animal cruelty. Ask yourself this, do you have violent tendencies? Have you ever bullied or tortured emotionally a human?

@MrReach17 From a hatchling & started on live food, she has always done this. I don't really think she is 'tenderizing' it-- I have always assumed that she is more savoring and tasting it! I say this because up close you can clearly she her press her tongue upwards against whatever is in her mouth several times from different areas, and if she doesn't like it she spits it out! So she's really just enjoying her food/playing with it. She swallows crayfish & pool fish whole.

@boy638 She doesn't eat mice everyday-- her diet has a lot of variety. When she was eating mice she'd eat 2-3 a week. Now since the weather is warmer she doesn't care for them much and has been eating a lot of crayfish and pool goldfish.

@JoaniMaster LMAO @ 'mice shit balls'. Actually those floating bits are not turds but traces of her reptile food sticks she had snacked on earlier. When the mice are put into the box at the pet store, they poop in there & I make sure to keep that & other debris out of the tank. I don't hate mice, I find them cute-- it was hard to start feeding her them. We actually have a 'meal' as a pet now. She was hibernating & wasn't eating so I scooped him back out. He's off limits now and is quite spoiled!

And trust me, Snappers are illegal to sell or own here in NYC too although they are very popular here 'wild' in rivers and ponds believe it or not (there are snappers in Central Park!). You need a license to keep one.

I know that every Pond in most Parks have a snapper in it. I catched a middle sized Florida snapping turtle 1998 in a local Park Pond ! And that in Germany!!! Someone threw him away or something, he was basking with some sliders and one day i caught him and he was mine ;)
I had him 5 years in a Pond in my Garden he grew so much i had to let him go...
Now im sad that i didnt keep him.

@TheChefKev Aww you should have kept him! You had the ideal living space for a snapper, an outdoor pond! And you had him so long too, I'm sure it took him a while to adapt to his new home. I know my snapper would probably go ape shit in such a huge amount of space. But unfortunately living in an apt in the city, an 100 gal would have to suffice.
