  • Hey Great info.. Just another tip that has worked really well for me... I went to a 5s 33oomah batter.. now she screams with lots of vertical power for aero batics.. see my videos.. just added.. no other mods were needed. ESC takes just great..

  • i love your channel and everything you do but i cant help but notice at 4:34 you have uggs correct me if im wrong i mean no harm just curious

  • i am very new to rc aircraft, so when you mentioned in this video, you got two props that were 13-8 and 13-6 and your aircraft came with a 13-9. What do those numbers mean? Is it something do to with the pitch of the blades? I'd appreciate the explaination. Thanks in advance!

  • Thanks Dave great video and advice, might just go ahead and order a couple of those 13X8s for mine. Biggest problem I have had with mine is bad servos. Plan on replacing them all over the winter since I have had failed flap servos and gear servos thus far.

  • I'd really like to recreate that broken hub on my CNC mill if you woulnt mind sending me the broken one. It's such a nice looking assembly.

  • Once again it's Dave to the rescue! Solving the problems that plague the RC community...I truly do not understand why parts for these planes are not readily available. Does FMS not realize the viablility and profitability of the replacement part market? They should be flooding the market with parts for these beautiful warbirds. just a thought...

Love the great vids, keep 'em coming. Happy New Year.

  • Dave My brothers and I really love watching youre videos and all the info that you share with us. We wanted to wish you and yours Happy Holidays.I Also wanted to share with everyone, hobby paridise carries FMS brand Planes and parts and they are the same ones that makes airfeild I believe and they have many parts available for 800 & 1400 Planes that nitroplanes dont keep in stock. Keep the vidioes coming and looking forward to the next years new vids.

  • I always learn a lot from you! thank you as always!!

  • Dave, as usual you tips and tricks are priceless! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I like how the music is in the background so I can hear your comments and also the sound of the plane which give me and idea of how much power you are applying. It's a huge help!

  • My favorite plane as well. Thanks for the info on the 13x8x3 blade prop, Dave & Happy Holidays..

  • I have a spare prop as well, my landing gear never cycles when arming my radio system, have fun with it.~Bob

  • I was surprised Dave, why not use a watt meter when you ran the props up in the shop? I would have thought that would have shown the power available between the stock prop/hub and the masterairscrew props were even close before going out to fly in the cold anf wind. Love your videos, thanks for sharing all that you do.

  • I am wondering about the weight difference between the 13x6 and the 13x8, this might explain why one is better than the other due to rotating mass. Furthermore, what is the weight difference between 13x8 with the added spacer vs the original one that came with this plane, my thinking is if it is a bit heavier you could swap out the metal spacer for a plastic one and make it closer or even lighter than the original version. Great video hope to see more of this one in the future.

  • Thank you, Dave, I truly enjoyed this video and those of it's type. I have the Skytrainer from NP and would like to convert it to a 3-bladed prop with spinner. Maybe you could do a video showing how to do that and how to do the math so you can get a comparable 3-bladed prop when the plane originally had a 2-blade.

  • NightFlyyer, Dave can you do a review on the Sky Runner by U.S. Army, i got it for christmas and it fly amazingly, im so surprised how stable it is you push the throttle and it stays you dont even need to hold it. if you would please dave i would be so happy btw i love your videos their great! Keep the good work up! <3 Tugger300

  • no one bladed prop?, :p

  • Super nice repair Job, damn that place looks cold...

  • My dad recently bought an Airfield B-25 and had the same thing happen to one of his hubs after a maiden flight crash. He had to order a set from China, which of course took forever to get there. It's good to know there are ways around the logistical problems involved in dealing with alot of the websites that sell these airplanes. It seems that they are out of stock on most anything at any given moment, especially when it's something you need lol! Great advice once again Mr. Herbert!

  • Nice plane and nice flight..Happy Holidays

  • As usual, great video. Good idea to use a solid prop! BTW, anyone noticed Mr Herbert's voice was a tad faster than normal in the first part of the video? :-)

  • Well that was some skilled flying, great Job! Also, I hope you had a great Christmas! -ramis182

  • wow bro for that planes in ww1 and ww2 in 1940 to 1950

  • haha moves like jagger

  • that's what i call a heck of a crosswind landing!

    good one!

  • I did not see in the video if you checked your electronics with a watt meter. If you did you should mention it in the video because newer flyers would be killing their ESC's and motors by just changing out to bigger props.. Other than that great video... keep it rolling Nightflyyer.

  • @kwboom Thanks, but since it is not a bigger prop (13 x 9 is stock) This is 13 x 8, so experience tells me the watts are not going to be an issue as the pitch is less. I did use a tach though, and the 13 x 8 turns about 70 rpm faster, which is actually easier on the ESC. than the stock prop. Not to worry. Thanks.

  • I use Master Air Screws as well. Have counter -rotating 3 bladers on my electric c-160 that you can see on my channel. Dave, you got me flying a few years ago from watching your videos and I can't express my gratitude for all you time and effort in these videos and the hobby. Merry Christmas to the Nightflyyer family and friends from Canada.

  • @B4its2L8guy I truly appreciate your long time support. Thanks for that and I also wish you a pleasant and Happy Holiday season. ~NightFlyyer~

  • You are the master of adaptation ! I love it thanks Dave keep it up!

  • @jbrannon69 When there are no parts around (like here in the Midwest) and your a retired Marine Avionicsman like me, you learn you gotta do what you gotta do to fly. Thanks very kindly for your comments.

  • I like your background music :P Cool video to. Keep those tips coming! :D

  • @RoboTekno Thanks very kindly.

  • Hey Dave, sometimes i wish your videos would go on and on and on! Merry Christmas to you and yours! Happy New Year!

  • Dave: Great video and thank for the TIP also Thanks for all your videos I really enjoy everyone of then.

Merry Christmas & Happy New year

  • @wwmilanl Haha. Fabulous. Thanks so kindly. I also wish you a very happy and prosperous holiday season.

  • You can use a Dremel to reshape your piece. Hey just a tip that will get it back to an original size and shape. Thanks for sharing your tips ,I thought I would share mine as well. See ya later frum Canada.

  • Great video as always Sir. I noticed the hub that you fixed, you used goop. The hub had a chunk missing and I have a tip you can use to rebuild the missing plastic. I use this method when I carve my decorative decoys.Lets say I carve too much wood out of an area? I use medium CA and put some in the area that I want to build back up .Once the glue is applied ,I sprinkle on some s fine sawdust from my belt sander.Once it is hardened I apply more until it is built back up to original, then reshape

  • @lewandlo That is a good tip, and I could put your fix over top. I fear the CA would crack under the extreme pressure of the prop torque. I used the Flexible rubber Goop as a test, first of all, just to see if it would still fly, since no hubs were available. The sawdust is a good idea for cosmetics now and I may do that. Thanks.

  • the 13x8 is definitely the way to go with this plane, nice job Dave, Happy Holidays !

  • @beverke7 Thanks very much. Happy holidays to you also.

  • I remember back when you were telling us about those glow powered edf's back in the day. And the video showed you holding the plane at full throttling and letting go for a take off. You also did that on the At6 (i think it was an at6)....At my club we taxy the plane and just takeoff....why do you do it like that?

    merry christmas dave!

  • @flyingchimp99 Full air flow over a movable rudder makes them steer better than the nose or tail wheels, which are off the ground quickly and have lose steering effect. The rudder will make 4 straighter takeoffs. We used to use assistants to hold the plane while we ran it up to test the engine before take off, then just let go. And if you have a serious cross wind, like this, you cannot taxi it straight, unless you have some wind over the rudder. Merry Christmas to you too.

  • Awsome video sir. do you still live in southdakota? i live here by Buffalo SD

  • Happy holidays to you and your family my friend.

  • @MrPockany Thanks very much and the same back at you.
