I was only four years old back then, but I do remember Rich Little afterwards appearing on so many varioty shows "Kopy Kats" for me was the best show ever.Am I alone,or dose Rich look like a young Steve Martin in this clip?Yet another genius.
Everyone that has posted negative things about Judy on here really should read the book her daughter Lorna Luft wrote called "Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir" and then you can realize that all the comments you are posting are simply not true. Yes, she had and addiction to prescription drugs but that started at a young age when MGM was giving them to her and she eventually became dependent on them.

Thanx for the clip. I love hearing impressionists do less common celebs. I've heard plenty of Cagney, Stewart, Bogie, Carson, Lancaster and Douglass. His Hawkins and Mason were dead-on!
Bravo to Judy for having Rich Little on her show so early in his career. People don't know this, but her network gave her no help at all (or very little) in getting guests booked on the show. So Judy and her producer would drive up to Las Vegas on the weekends and go to various shows looking for talented performers. If it weren't for her persistence and her willingness to give a Rich Little a break, we wouldn't have this.
"The Judy Garland Show" never really got the chance to take off; Judy deserved far more than just one season. One thing I especially loved about watching Judy on her show was that she was not only a great talent who loved to entertain, but also appreciated others with great talent and loved to be entertained. If the series had continued, it might have given her the steadiness she wanted and needed so much in her life. Judy, we love you; you left us 'way too soon
@Noveltooner Judy, still had her spark here. Dont know how much she was drinking at the time, if at all. But if she was, it may of doomed her show and it certainly doomed her !
Rich Little is marvelous at impressions! Am I the only one who thinks that he looks and acts so much like Steve Martin? ;D And I agree, I don't think Judy was drunk or anything, she behaves just like every other person do when are having a good time, they loosen up and get less controlled of their own expressions and actions. There is something wonderfully sweet and childlike about her reactions - she's always so fascinating :)
She was NOT drunk here. She was having a good time. This is the real Judy. With that said......I can never get tired of her laugh. It's the best laugh I've ever heard. RIP <333
Wow....he did some voices I've never heard him do before. And...I thought at first she didn't look well, but she seemed to look more vivacious as the bit went on.
I adore her , but to be honest .... Judy was always on something - just depended how much and how bad ..... Why do we still beat this dead horse and just enjoy her ?????
Judy wasn't drunk or strung out here. She didnt want to see him perform beause she wanted her reaction to be like the audiences so she could see him for the first time and her reactions are genuine. Why ppl keep ragging on Judy for her personal life. Cant ppl just shut up and enjoy this great legend. If ppl want to nit pick instead of enjoying her talent it's best to not even watch her clips. Its as simple as that. Just dont watch Judy Garland if all ppl can do is talk smack about her.
@NFitalianGuy Dude, I don't know what video YOU were watching, but she is definitely hammered in this one. She can't even say some of her lines without slurring. Sad. BTW, don't be fooled by the appearance of their performance. This was obviously scripted and rehearsed. They are just trying to make it look improvised. You can tell because Little starts to take the prop cigar out of his pocket before Judy even says the name "George Burns". He knew she way going to say that name...
@photoasylum So? She was Judy Garland. And she sounds like Judy Garland in this. I love her, and she was possibly one of the best performers and entertainers of the 20th century, but she was a drunk post-MGM, so you are going to hear some slurring in most videos and audio bits of her later in her life. As another commenter said "She was always on something. It just depended how much and how bad." Did you really come on her and expect Dorthy Gale-era Garland?
@DisneyAshmanDemos You should read my post again more carefully. I was responding to another post. Nothing more, nothing less. Someone made a point, and I disagreed. Personally, I could not care less what she was on, or whether she was on anything or not. This video is not about her, but rather a marvelous Rich Little in his early years as a performer...
Here would have been perfect if Rich did Cary Grant saying to Ms.Garland "Judy, Judy, Judy" and did Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, and Bert Lahr and Judy read the Dorthy lines
@Slave2Reason No, I think it might be because it's a rare occasion for her series that she's plump, and they're not showing her tum-tum in most of this clip. But when she stands up, you can see that a few pounds were showing, which happens easily when you're just 4'11". It's a terrific clip where Judy seems relaxed for a change, and genuinely enjoying Rich's work, especially the James Mason bit.
@Slave2Reason I can see why you think that, but because of the constant interplay between uppers, downers, booze, and Newports, it's hard to pinpoint specifically what's going on sometimes. Plus the fact that when an alcoholic is off the stuff for several hours, that's when the person can seem tipsy.
Can you believe that Rich Little was only 25 at that time? (He looks older here, in my opinion.) And he already got a gig on the show of an absolute show biz legend. Not bad!
What is also remarkable about this clip how Judy Garland grants Rich Little his place in "her" spotlight and even encourages and congratulates him for his performance. That woman was really gracious and acknowledged other talented people. Very kind of you, Judy! (And not self-evident for such a star.)
I love you Judy!!!
