I'll never forget an episode where Mother Jefferson and George were discussing something about a funeral and he doubted his mother's memory regarding someone living or dead and she said in her classic tone, "oh George I may not know the people who are still living but I surely know the ones who are dead." This was priceless to hear in the context of that episode and I remember it some 33 years later perusing the series. Being older and more cognizant of the ravages of Cancer Sara was a hero!
I'm superstitious about black birds/crows. I believe they're death birds. When they're on my fence, I duck or hide everytime they look in my direction. I guess you could say I be dodging death. lol
@roz2zie Damon Evans (the second actor to play Lionel), Ned Wertimer (Ralph the Doorman) and Danny Wells (Charlie the Bartender) are also still living.
I remember watching this show as a tiny kid and it's hard to believe that three of these four women are now gone. Zara died in 1978 from Lung Cancer (you can see her gasping for air in this episode); Roxy died in 1996 from Breast Cancer (I always thought she was the most elegant and beautiful black woman I'd ever seen); and Isabel died in 2004 from Cardiac Arrest. Zara and Isabel both died at age 86 and most people don't know that Isabel was 20 years older than Sherman.
God Bless Mother Jefferson. That she kept acting until a few months before she left us shows what a great individual she was. Her last words on the Jeffersons "Just tell George his mother always has a room waiting for him. "
RIP: Sara Cully Brown, Roxie Roker, Isabel Sanford, Paul Benedict, Franklin Cover & Mike Evans. The Jeffersons is one of a kind and will be hard to duplicate.
You can tell that the cancer was taking its toll here in the fourth season back when this aired on November 12, 1977, on Zara Cully (Mother Jefferson) RIP. She looked very ill, and not lively when you compare seeing her in earlier seasons. She died three and half months later on February 28, 1978. RIP!
@1MrsHaughton876 Yes it's so sad. She even sounds different. If you notice too in the later seasons they have her sitting alot and keep the camera off her. She was so talented and funny. May she rest in peace.
@TheHiphopjoe ...I agree with you. If you google "Zara Cully", there is a beautiful pic of her in her younger days. What is even more interesting is that, she did not appear in her first acting role until she was 74 years old in 1966, in a tv program called "Run For Your Life". RIP!
i loved Isabels voice....so sexy

Was that fashionable in those days?

@FijneWIET It pretty much was. Lots of old women used to wear blue, grey or white wigs.

George likes to set Louise on Florence that's why he asked her for dinner.
