Why do some people slam Serena for being ungracious after a loss but then go and criticize her when she is gracious to opponents like Safina after a match like this final? I guess for some people she can just never do anything right which is sad.
It is not Serena's fault that Safina could not bring it to the Australian Open final. I am tired of these losers such as Safina, Dementieva, Jankovic, that talk big BUT they can't back it up in the grand slams. The reason Serena is the best player of her generation is she is the only woman that has the mental toughness plus the complete game. Serena's serve separates her from all the other women on the WTA because those losers can't serve.

On his bday my best nigerian friend ( now he is my best friend) who has lived in england since he was 14, told me to come over to meet beautiful women. Monfils and Tsonga are black BUT they are also French remember this. The French will cheer for black people ONLY if they are French ditto for Yannick Noah. However, I think the French have an anti black AMERICAN attitude towards the Williams Sisters. The French cheer for Justine Henin she`s not French she is Belgian. However, Henin can speak French and she is white. I do believe the French are racist and sexist against the Williams Sisters.

I've seen highlights of that French Open Quarterfinal match between Serena and Amelie. It looked like Serena took off her belt and wipped the hell out of Amelie. That match is one of the main reasons(along with the fact that Serena and Venus are black) why the French hate Serena so much. I hope someone post it up on youtube soon along with Serena and Amelie's 2004 Wimbledon Semifinal match. I've never seen that match also.

Her service motion is too rigid with the hitting arm too stiff. It's not a fluid motion. I attribute most of the Dinara's ascent to her improved fitness and dogged determination. She's like the new version of Lindsay Davenport in that regard. However, she needs a new serve which would gain her a few easy points if she's gone to win a major. The Williams, Clijsters, Henin and the other Russians (including Sharapova) are better movers.
I don't get it, either. Safina's tall enough, so there's no need for her to toss the ball so far away from her. Her serving games are easy to break once she starts making two double errors per game.
High ball toss doesn't necessarily result in high fault rate. For example, Steffi Graf had a similar high toss but her serve was effective.
But, yes, the movement of arms, feet, and jumping up in the air should be fast and absolutely coordinated. I feel thats where Safina needs to work on. Graf took lesser time to finish the serve than Safina.
Also, Safina hits the ball very late. Hence, she has to step back from the baseline after her serve . This further complicates her execution.

Safina is a cocky brute. She shouldn't be #1. If the women's tour had the same ranking system as the men's, the players that win the important tournaments(Serena, Venus) would be ranked #1 and #2. I was fine watching this one because Serena played beautifully. The uncomfortable one for me was this year's French Open final. Safina had an absolute meltdown.

Henin and Hingis are NOT coming back, so just forget it! Henin has made it clear she has absolutely no interest in tennis anymore and Hingis wouldn't be competitive even if she did come back (she was banned for 2 years). And Davenport is also very unlikely given her age and having kids. We still have Serena and Venus for a little while longer. Clijsters is coming back and Sharapova should be back soon. That's pretty much going to be it until the next group of "champions" comes along.
i didnt think this was a crappy match. it was greatly entertaining to see serena at her best. it just goes to show how much the other players have to improve if they are to reach the level of the great champions that serena and venus are.

I want to see Venus win the French Open before her career is over but remember Venus can be inconsistent. Does anyone remember the Australian Open 2009? Venus is just too unpredictable. On his bday my best nigerian friend ( now he is my best friend) who has lived in england since he was 14, told me to come over to meet beautiful women. I have spoken with him in the past. he apparently also faces the same issue.He despises Serena with a vengeance as a player. Thats how EVERY fan of the sport is . You love who you love and hate their arch rivals. And he started off on youtube by reasoning out too. I've seen highlights of that French Open Quarterfinal match between Serena and Amelie. It looked like Serena took off her belt and wipped the hell out of Amelie. That match is one of the main reasons(along with the fact that Serena and Venus are black) why the French hate Serena so much. I hope someone post it up on youtube soon along with Serena and Amelie's 2004 Wimbledon Semifinal match. I've never seen that match also.

Her service motion is too rigid with the hitting arm too stiff. It's not a fluid motion. I attribute most of the Dinara's ascent to her improved fitness and dogged determination. She's like the new version of Lindsay Davenport in that regard. However, she needs a new serve which would gain her a few easy points if she's gone to win a major. The Williams, Clijsters, Henin and the other Russians (including Sharapova) are better movers.

I don't get it, either. Safina's tall enough, so there's no need for her to toss the ball so far away from her. Her serving games are easy to break once she starts making two double errors per game.

High ball toss doesn't necessarily result in high fault rate. For example, Steffi Graf had a similar high toss but her serve was effective.
But, yes, the movement of arms, feet, and jumping up in the air should be fast and absolutely coordinated. I feel thats where Safina needs to work on. Graf took lesser time to finish the serve than Safina.
Also, Safina hits the ball very late. Hence, she has to step back from the baseline after her serve . This further complicates her execution.

A good show how about no show. Safina is a good player, but has played in 3 major finals and has not showed 2 play. She double faulted down match point in the french open final 2009, bad drop shot on her backhand side in aussie open final 2009, french open final she was way 2 nervous to hit the ball against some1 who was nervous herself. Point wise Safina is number 1 but for some1 who has won 3 of the last 4 grand slams and not be number 1 is funny. But Safina did well she won Rome and Madrid.

Henin and Hingis are NOT coming back, so just forget it! Henin has made it clear she has absolutely no interest in tennis anymore and Hingis wouldn't be competitive even if she did come back (she was banned for 2 years). And Davenport is also very unlikely given her age and having kids. We still have Serena and Venus for a little while longer. Clijsters is coming back and Sharapova should be back soon. That's pretty much going to be it until the next group of "champions" comes along.

I want to see Venus win the French Open before her career is over but remember Venus can be inconsistent. Does anyone remember the Australian Open 2009? Venus is just too unpredictable. She should not of lost to Navarro in the second round. When tennis fans expect Venus to come through she doesn't and when she isn't expected to win she does. I dont really care for Venus because she too soft vunerable and unpredictable for me.
Serenas a warrior and rarely loses before the quarters and wins the slams shes entered everytime she gets to a semifinal.
She just won back to back slams and regained the #1 ranking for the third time in her career.

I find it so sickening and weird how someone can say a win is LUCK.Justine beating a injured Serena in 07 wimb is luck.I could say Venus winning the 07 WIMB was luck because of Serenas injury and Justine upset lost to Bartoli.You will never win a deabte with me because you make it to easy.Venus leads head to head mostly with wins against Serena outside of SLAMS.Serena has beaten Venus in the most important matches 5of them being in the 5 straight finals she owned Venus in.You killing yourself

Venus beat Serena at Wimbledon and the YEC...the YEC is a huge tournament....don;t blame me because you can;t see that.
Stop bringing up what happened 7 years ago....it is not valid for what has been happening to Serena NOW when she faces Venus, which is LOSING.

It doesn't matter that most of the wins are outside of slams...what matters is that she's beating Serena...something she wasn't doing as easily in those years that you refuse to stop naming.

She has made it to 3 straight slam finals won 2 of 3 and has regained the #1 ranking twice.
This is not the PAST this is NOW recent years.
Venus has yet to make it to the final of any slam outside of Wimbledon.
So once again if she was the better player it would be her regaining the #1 ranking and going to 3straight slam finals

Venus has no frendch nor Auso and hasnt won a USO in 8 years.

Shes had plenty of open doors and opportunity playing against inferior players late in grand slam rounds and choked dropped the ball too may times and thats why I love Serena.

Billie Jean is more of a legend because of her ambassadorism (I know that's not a word) for the sport...and no, she did not do very well outside of the other slams besides Wimbledon. A couple US, and I think one or two outside of the US and Wimbledon, which is what Venus has the chance to do.

She lost in the quarterfinals of the o8 AUSO to Ivanovic another match she should have won.
She doesnt do well on other surfaces.
You say think outside the box but she hasnt done nothing outside of Wimbledon since 2001 and thats unacceptable for a legend with the talent she has.
Its no way she shouldnt have won another slam other than Wimbledon by now.

I think she will get 2 more Wimbledons tieing Grafs total of 7.
And she may win the USO one of these next two years.
She have about 3-4 more years left in her and she needs to step her game up because shes too talented not to win a hard court slam.
If Sharapova and Henin done it twice in the last couple of years I just dont get why she cant.
If Ivanovic can win the French im confused as to why Venus cant.

Serena really isn't better than Venus by that much, if better than her at all. Who was going to win these past two back to back titles if Serena hadn't done so?...Venus.
She was playing better tennis than anyone since October of last year, and losing to Navarro was a fluke. She was playing the best tennis at the US, until she CHOKED against Serena.

Listen Brutha Serena is much better in my eyes and ill explain why.
When you beat someone on the biggest stage in your sport which in tennis is in a grand slam final and you do it 5 straight times I think youre qualified as BETTER and as the superior player.
Also Serena won a title in all 4 GRAND SLAMS Venus has only won titles in 2 of the 4 and hasnt won anywhere other than Wimbledon in 8 years but you say Serena isnt better?

Another reason why I feel Serena is better is because Serena has won 4 slams in a row something only a very few players have done even though it wasnt all in one calendar year.
She has held all four slam titles and shes won everyone except the FRENCH twice.
And shes regained the #1 ranking 2xs and had it 3times.She is also 10/3 in slam finals while Venus is 7/6.
Serena is much better than Venus when shes at her best except for on Wimbledon even though she beat Venus in the finals twice

Venus also has a Gold Medal, which Serena seems to have NOR been able to accomplish in this great career of hers (not meant to be sarcastic).
All the stats you are naming are don;t prove anything, and how many of those did she win and not have to worry about Venus on the other side of the draw?...Serena has only beat Venus in a GS ONCE in the years that I have considered Venus to be the player with more abilities....Venus will have the GS edge.

that's the problem...you're living in the past....that was fucking 6-7 years ago. they are different players now, and Venus' game is superior, and Serena should be scared, because Venus will be her biggest problem before retirement.
Any asshole in the sand can use past results to make an argument, but what I do, and most others seem to be able to lack the ability to do, I make judgements on the future.
I hit and miss, but let me tell you, I don;t miss much. Venus is going to hurt Serena.
