although i don't play anything like benny goodman, listening to his 1938 carnegie hall jazz concert on the radio late at night when i was around 14 is what made me want toi learn to play the clarinet. nowadays i'm a retired philosopher of science living in pittsburgh.--jim
i'm jim bogen and i played clarinet on the 'burn to shine' cd version of 'suzie blue'. thanks to everyone who commented on it. my inspirations: johnny dodds, jimmy noone (especially 'liza' and 'i know that you know'), george lewis (at the beverly cavens), bob helm (with yerba buena jazz band; thand band includes jim leigh, the suzie blue trombone player). you can find all of these on utube or itunes except maybe the bob helm; you can get that on amazon.
1 dislike. Really? You're gonna be that guy? THAT guy??? Do you really not like it... or are you just such a lonely, bitter, hateful soul that you can do nothing more than attempt to spread your negativity over something beautiful? I feel sad for you. All the rest of us feel sad for you.
@IMD918 lol don't get mad haters will hate at the end 1 man isn't a judge of good music and we drown him out with our more advanced choices. the guy is probably eating fast food and forgot he even did this, your probably going in on a troll, i actually come back to hear this over and over, cuz 2 me its some form of Genius.. lol
@suzzieqws try acker bilk, or, if you prefer a more jazzy style, try sidney bechet, the andrew sisters, or, as fitzyuc suggested, try benny goodman. always a good bet. muse's You Belong to Me has a sweet clarinet solo in it too, Let's Dance Together by Paul Reeve's MAY not be clarinet, idk, but it's pretty damn good. and so does Honey Pie by the Beatles.
A new Orleans Dixieland with a song blues feel to it. This song is used in the Cadillac SRX Cross Over 2011 commercial which is how I managed to find this song.
ugh I've been looking for this song FOREVER!!! "ooh where'd you learn to do that so well?" I thought where'd you learn... was the title :3 i feel silly... but I'm happy i finally found it :DD
does anyone know any other songs that are similar to this? like any old jazz songs? i know luis armstrong, if anyone could fill me in that would be great! <333
wow shades of "boardwalk empire"!(hbo) they should have scopped this one up...loved this so much from the commercial.. had (and i see others also)look it up to see if it was a real song and by who/...?this could catch on..and bring ragtime(ancient for most off us)back..star
Heard this song a few years ago but found it again when i saw the Caddie commercial. So glad Ben Harper is gaining so much acclaim because we need artists like him most desperately.
Damn shame I didn't know anything about this song until I heard it in a car commercial...still searching for lady who sings "So In Love" in Nature's Pride bread commercial...somebody help me!!!
@BluRondoAlaTurk OK, first of all, great user name - love Dave Brubeck! Secondly, wow, I LOVE Sondre Lerche and never hear anyone mention his name. What a GREAT pairing. Good call :)
wow...found out about this artist from the new cadillac srx commercial...his voice just STRUCK me, and i HAD to know who this was that was singing!! also, ALL the instrumentation had me like, WHO IS THIS!!! thank u for uploading..and shout out to cadillac for introducing me to Ben Harper!
WHO IS THE CLARINET PLAYER?????? Sorry for the caps but o my goodness that is one of the most fantastic clarinet solos i have EVER HEARD I love it. Does anyone know who is playing it?
A man, a woman, a sort of love. She was a beautiful woman but he did a lot of ugly things to turn her world around. In his own way he loved her too. Trying to be his own man, conquer the world when he couldnt, she became his last stand. He was cowboys, she was indians. John Trudell

Too funny...I just did the same thing! This tune with the funky clarinet sound hooked me and had to google 'Cadillac clarinet tune' to find it.
Reminds me of the Dave Bromberg Band with a little Leon Redbone thrown in for flavor...
