I made one out of a 'green' reusable shopping bag. Works great, and no rustling!
A dollar from any store. I put a little extra work into mine by cutting a piece of 5mm thick hardboard to fit the bottom of the bag, and then drilling a hole for a 1/4" short screw. I can now screw my camera to the board, and put the board/camera in the bag so the camera just pokes out the hole cut for the lens! Works GREAT!
I tried a similar thing using a webbing sling. I was looking for a steady effect that was compact, lightweight and easily packed. It was quiet but I still had the same problem same you noticed. You get that side-to-side swinging motion and it’s hard to do anything but ground level video.
very cool. an external mic would help with the crunchy sound problem. there are some very cool (and affordable!) pvc fig rigs around the internet that work pretty well.
Get rid of the bag my friend..... Your answer to not having quality sound is to use duct tape.... (they don't call it "hundred mile an hour tape" for nothing you know) ; )
That was pretty cool. Too bad about the sopund though. I've got a couple old cloth bags, extra hole for the mic & maybe that'd work. I might give that a try sometime.
So putting the camera in a plastic bag like that is suppose to reduce jerky movements? What was the basis of this experiment? What results did you find?
@aROARahVyePer It did actually work very well for smooth motion I was amazed really.. still not as good as a pro set up but better than some homemade devices i have seen.

I wonder if wrapping string around the camera, sort of like a marionette, would generate the same result, without the noise?

Yep i though about that yesterday.. good idea.. I may build a little somthing and try it.

You could just use like a cotton bag or something so it doesnt crinkle. Or just do what skate filmers do and use ur hand xP.
