My son was found 1800 ft. below Chasm View in Sept. 2008 here and it still brings tears to my eyes. He was 21 majoring in political science at UNC in Greeley, CO. I plan to take dried flowers tomorrow to memorialize him. This is one very awesome canyon!!!!!

I live in nearby ouray, but a quick history note. John Gunnison was an explorer who first mapped the area known as gunnison he was there less than a week before moving on in his mapping duties, he was killed by indians a few months after leaving the area.

With all your travels through visitor centres & tourist information booths in national parks, have you come across the creation story either as an info centre or having material or pamphlets available which provide "true" detail of the occurrence, such as the Grand Canyon?

On the chance you might say no, I think it rather lazy & lacks credibility on their part to not inform the public at these sites of the "correct" formation of the landscape.

First the museums then...Ive said too much...

That flight over the canyon has to be one of the most epic aerial video montages of your entire vacation. Nice easy way to get altitudes of over 1000 ft. without going out of range!

From the video description it sounds like you're roughing it! Hang in there.

This canyon was clearly carved in 5 minutes by the waters of the flood.....actually 2 minutes if it took 5 minutes for the Grand Canyon. :)
