She had a superb r&b quiet storm on her covers 2 album so much in love feat. vince alaras. Her whispery soft vocals and her melismas we're done well when she sung r&b. See how could you leave me music video on u tube although the song was mellow, its r&b inspired. But if u want the upbeat ones, find "for the love of you". She sounded like aaliyah/brandy on it. Also in versatilty, covers 2 offers r&b,soul,hiphop,jazz, blues, rock and country style genre.

r&b can be sing as long as you can ff. the beat and rhythm of the song. If u dnt have raspy big voice doesnt mean u cant sing r&B. Aaliyah, janet jacskon, xtina can sing r&b even thou the dont have the raspy voice. When regine did an r&b, she uses her whispery and soft voice like on her song for the love of you feat. kc montero! If u listen her drawn album, all the arrangements are r&b/hiphop.

wow. kewl i love it:D. regine is so indescribable. i lover her voice. mariah only wishes she has the range that regine has. so what if it's her song? she should just write songs for regine since regine is the only singer out there that sings it just like her cd. Mariah, the songwriter and Regine, the songbird, perfect duo!

pt8. I say that Regine has gone a long way more than MC in comparing their success in their countries. Regine's career has been more consistent & fruitful. This has nothing to do with world fame. Coz again, for US artists, if they're popular, they're popular all over the world without even having to get out of the US. But between the 2, MC is the more fortunate one as far as making a mark worldwide, while RV would just be a great singer unknown to the world.

pt6 Honors & contributions to their countries. MC has brought honors to herself mostly. Regine on the other hand, have represented her country in an international singing contest & brought honors to her country by winning. She represented her country during the Lunar parade in Hollywood. Auctioned her gowns for children with cancer. Performs for free to benefit the needy. Discover young talents. Official endorser for Philippine Tourism, for free. Regine gets my vote.

pt5. On career recognitions. Both Divas are well decorated in this category. Regine may have more awards, but only because she's been in the business longer than MC. But the only advantage that Regine has, is that Regine is a multi-media artist, while MC is purely singing/songwriting. Regine does movies, soap opera, TV hostings, concerts, fashion, product endorsements, recording artist, etc. I don't think we want to count MC's movie :-). Regine gets my vote on this one.

pt4. On making hits. They are both hitmakers. Although again, all of Regine's albums and carrier singles are hits and are always on the charts, MC on the other hand have had several flopped albums and singles and was out of the charts after again Glitter. Despite of MC's inconsistencies, I give her my vote for being able to write her own songs, versus Regine who may have originals, but mostly revives already hit songs of the past and present. MC rules on this aspect.

pt3. On their career longevity. Regine is on her 20th year, and she stayed on top of her game even now. 16 or 17 years for MC, but she had a 4 year hiatus after glitter, so I cannot even give her full credit in that 17 years. Regine started when she was only 15, while MC was in her early 20's. Regine gets my vote.

pt2. If you want to compare these 2 artists' success, it should be on their significance in their own countries. What they've done & how well they did throughout the span of their careers. Worldwide fame is a given to any American artist. AI contestants are even more popular than Regine, lol. So let us not be biased in comparing these two.

pt2.Martin tried it in Vegas, he did well. Lani also tried it in Vegas. She got great reviews. Lea Salonga even got herself a Tony award. WOW. But who are they to Americans? They are talented singers from the Philippines who have performed here in the US. What's their status in Hollywood? Nothing really. What would the American media say about them? Nothing really, but "These 3 Filipino artists are good singers, now enough of that & let's talk about our very own US artists".

Regine's vocal prowess is up there with the rest of the
world's great singers, but her personality is just not
for the US market. The US is focused more on the
artist's attitude and personality. I could not picture
Regine fitting in. She's very pinay in a lot of ways,
and she's just too proud to change herself just to make
a name for herself in the US. She's her country's
pride, while in the US, she'll just be another awesome
singer.

all i can say is regine's version is far far better than mariah knowing that regine it live. i agree, if regine took the song seriously its better but even she did't take it seriously, the outcome is still better than the original, which simply means that this song is too easy for regine.
