Yes you should, it would really give you an understanding of the game, they say you don't need to play the first for the second but you really should, the best thing is that you can continue your character from the first to the second.
Heck yes, the first one is amazing, and if you buy it you'll understand a lot more of the game, and you'll probably enjoy it a lot more too since you'll feel more connected to your character, etc...
Well, it doesn't take that long if you ONLY do that main story, there are tons of side-missions you can do and lots of other things (like exploring uncharted worlds).
And Mass Effect 2 is coming in 2 months so I'm pretty sure you'll finish it by then :D
thanks alot, but since i last commented i borrowed the game off my friend and have already completed it. though i only done the main story, i wish i'd done the side quests aswellnow lol.
i think bioware has become the greatest rpg developer inhistory (thats right fuck you square enix). i cant think of a game off the top of my head that wasnt incredible and critically aclaimed, and they seem to be getting better and better
I haven't heard him say that they gave all they've got to the sequel of Mass Effect. It might be because as developers they don't want to unleash all the possibilities they've got, maybe they are keeping them for the third and last part of game trilogy... Just a thought.
@javierabegazo Indeed. The combat is a LOT more fluid in ME2, especially because you don't have to save every 3-5 minutes out of fear of the game crashing and wiping all your progress.
@javierabegazo And yet MAss Effect is always called an RPG and wins RPG awards over Fallout and Witcher and Two Worlds and Drakensang and Risen and Gothic and on and on. But of course big companies release action games for the console crowd, the smaller European companies that released the RPG's listed above are more PC orientated, so still produced games where you have to think, with stats and perks and level ups and weapons and armour that have to be considered. All this real RPG action!

It's highly recommended but there will be a basic recap of the "canon" ending for ME1 & what leads up to ME2.

It pisses me off hearing people say "oh they're making it more of a shooter"
It was ALREADY a shooter in terms of combat. All they're doing is just polishing it and making it as FLUID as shooters play

@javierabegazo Yes but its understandable how people would assume that as there were more armor and weapon choices in mass effect 1

Took him 8 minutes and 20 seconds to say 'we're making it more like a shooter to bring in more console buyers'.
And is it me, or are those graphics a little 'Borderlands'?!
