I doubt very seriously he was trying to swerve away from the car. I've seen cars hit the front wheel of a rig like that before and it can actually steer the truck off course. May seem hard to believe but if a 200lb. man can steer it why wouldn't the force of a 3000lb. car be able to?

If the left tie rod joint fails in a front wheel drive vehicle, the left wheel will pull to the right. then if you let off the gas the wheel will quickly pull to the left and get stuck as far left as it can go. That looks to be the case. There is a lesson here: if you suspect damage to those parts, or your alignment feels weird, then get it looked at.

I saw somebody in an old monte carlo change lanes in between drive/ trailer axles underneath an enddump trailer in San bernerdino ca (90's). It was a horrific sight.
It is somewhat true. The car definitely caused this one, but who is to say what the age,sex or anything else for that matter about the driver. Fact: teenagers are involved in the most fatal crashes. Fact: most fatal crashes happen within miles of the home. Fact: most fatal crashes happen on secondary roads not interstates. I'm a truck driver myself and would never point a finger without knowing for certain who was to blame. We all make mistakes some are really stupid. Shame that lives are ruined

Everyday I lose count of the stupidity I see from women drivers. It's about time the driving test was made much much tougher, so that we can eliminate the "morons" from our roads.

This is a great advertisement for the Porsche Cayenne. The SUV on the other side of the road that almost got destroyed was a Porsche Cayenne but it was able to swerve doing highway speeds and avoid it. Nice.
This could have been so much worse. Im sure you guys have seen the other incident similar to this only cars actually disapeared when the semi hit them.
