  • Where's Megadeth?

  • hey painkiller was their comeback album after being separated for so long they came back t write it. shit man i love the change, i mean if bands never changed they would die in a few years out like most bands in the genre. i.e. heathen & deathangel.

  • @sgtBONGwater sometimes a change is good...but when godlike bands phone it in... it hurts my ears..

  • now THESE are riffs!!!

every metal band now has the same BFMV riffs

  • 1:06 Angel of Death

  • @voltronsky they may have tried to stay relevant but all bands eventually incorporate more elements into their music, such as preist they were heavy metal, then developed into speed metal there wasnt much a difference on painkiller than on screaming for vengeance except speed

  • @MAGGOTSOlDIER626 not much difference? try solid and 'classic' songwriting at it's finest, just listen to Screaming for Vengeance again and pay attention to such tracks like "Bloodstone" "Fever" "Devil's Child" plus the 'speed' inclined tracks like "Riding On The Wind"& "Electric Eye". Miles above anything on the bland 'speed for speed's sake' bore fest that is PAINKILLER. Priest was burnt-out by then and very little to offer except gimmicks.

  • @voltronsky well thats your opinion my opinion is that painkiller is still a great album even if they were burnt out

  • so riff foda to nem ai se tem alguns minimos erros tchnical tharsh old school

  • great vid i like the comments added

  • if you want real riffs.. speed metal cranium fuckers!!

  • Sacred reich fuckin rules!

  • Gonna go crush some posers.

  • If only Exodus had pushed out their LP faster, they might have beaten Metallica.

  • nope

  • What do you mean nope?

Back in the real early 80s they were pretty much rivaling each others popularity.

  • NOICE!!! Dude I love how you ended it with Slayer's Necrophilliac!!!! Not Rainning Blood or Angel OD. Hell Awaits RULES!!!!

  • What is the name of the Heathen song? Anyone know what scale the riff is based on. Sound like the gypsy??

  • Some others right off hand...Coroner, Powermad, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags....

  • i feel for you man still good video series make some more please.

  • this is a video series that most new metal fans need to see. no possessed wtf mate

  • it was in an episode but it was taken down by the man himself!@

  • VIO-LENCE! \m/

  • I really like what you said in the description:

No posers allowed in the vault, EVER!

  • whats the name of that heathen song?

  • It's the title track of the album pictured.

  • thanks!

i did look it up earlier and found it, but since i thought the part you showed in the video was the introduction, i thought the song i found was another one, since i only heard its intro. i just realised it was the solo. thanks for showing those awesome bands!

  • heh no problem, just TRYING to educate the masses of asses out there! ;)

  • IMO Death Angel are not that great. They tried being like Megadeth but sounded awful.

    Fucking Heathen is awesome!!!!!

  • I don't know what your problem is but Death Angel fucking rules your lame ass. That is until Act III. After that, well yes, they sounded godawful with every single record they keep putting out... who are these people that are buying and supporting that crap? we might never know or care. Fuck off DA, we don't need your new generic shit giving Thrash a bad name, we already have Metallica doing that!

  • Death Angel really wasn't that amazing. The Ultra-Violence was excellent, but the rest of their stuff was just good, not really amazing. Good headbanging stuff, but it gets boring if it's not creative enough. Keep thrashing. \m/

  • Deathrow

    Coroner

    Artillery?? they have amazing riffs

You guys better know who they are if u wanna calll urself a thrash fan

  • ever heard of thrash metal band artillery? By inheritance has some great riffs, especially in khomaniac, and back in the trash.

  • persecution mania!!

  • Down! to the fiery pits of..

    HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

    Love Slayer man.

  • You like Nuclear Assault? On ther album Handle With Care has some of the best riffs I heard. Also have you heard of Sadus? They also have kick ass riffs and they are heavy.

  • Yeah Nuclear Assault is awesome & I'm kicking myself for not adding some riffs! they have some killer tunage 'Stranded in Hell" "Game Over" "Equal Rites" "Brainwashed" "Critical Mass" "Hang the Pope" 'Nightmares" "Justice", but I always thought their production values were too raw. Sadus are pretty tight as well but can't get into the vocals...

  • Sadus vocals were something I was looking for a year ago. He uses a phaser sometimes, but I thought you can hear what he says and I like some black metal vocals. Some sound cool and they leave wondering how they can do that for that long. It's just sometimes when he screeches or screams then it's what the hell...haha, but Death Angel also screams sometimes. Also "Rise From The Ashes" "Great Depression" "Sin" and "Brain Death" People who say that metal vocalists can't sing. He sure can sing.

  • I Spend 2 hours everyday listening to Thrash Metal what about you

  • 2-Hours isin't much.

  • i see you have kreator and destruction, but what is your opinion on sodom may i ask?

    i liked youre analyses

  • Thanks DerRast! my opinion on Sodom... yeah they're cool, They started out too black/speed metal for my tastes but PERSECUTION MANIA is an absolute classic(Nuclear Winteerrrr!), sadly after that album they failed to impress me. They just became too fast & repetitive with nothing new to offer the mosh pit beast within. Kreator & Destruction are simply a grade above them in terms of memorable riffage. Cheers.

  • I know your comment is 2 months old, but Sodom's "M-16" released in 2001 is their best in my opinion. They can hold their own.

  • Thanks for putting this together. Fucking metal!!!

  • those old thrash bands were so fresh with their ideas. It was a great era in metal music. Great muscianship in their songs. Plus the recording were too me sonically way ahead of todays production values. Digital compression has taken away the old analog days

  • Nice choices. Good to see a complilation video that doesn't have each bands biggest/most popular song as an example.

And I think the problem death angel aren't that popular is the flatness of Act III. That "thrown to the wolves" song was like their "Enter Sandman", ugh. Their 08 effort is good though, and the Ultra-Violence and Frolic Through the Park are great.

  • the reason death angel aren't that popular/overlooked*

  • dude, you are crazy Act III might not have been as fresh as FROLIC I'll give you that, but in the end it's a perfectly crafted piece of metal, even if they did try to go a little bit more commercial due to label pressures or whatever, they didn't dissapoint me one bit with that awesome record. Thrown to the wolves and the new efforts are simply just LAME, they came back too late to cash in on the thrash revival. They totally lost all their original spark, even THE ORGANIZATION sucked.

  • good choises bro!

  • Err Why not Vio-Lence's Eternal Nightmare? Anyways, nice video none the less.

  • i love METAL.

  • really?

  • yes really.

  • FUCKING THRASH!!!!!!!!!!

  • REALLY LIKE TO DESCRIPTIONS

  • Excellent vid!

  • Great video BUt i Think

Impact is iminent is WAY better tha

    and then there were none,

  • Well, HELL FUCKIN YEAH!!! I was very lucky to live in NorCal during the Bay Area Thrash scene, very cool times. I don't think there will ever be another era like it.

  • damn right, you lucky mofo. You possibly witnessed the birth of an era that will never repeat itself anywhere near in the same way. The progression of 'rock and roll' evolution ended with thrash metal's demise. Anything that's to come will only be carbon copies, there will never be another black sabbath, rush, zeppelin or maiden, saxon or consequently metallica, slayer, megadeth, anthrax, overkill, pantera etc ever again.

  • I would say that the progression of "rock and roll" or "real metal" ended in like '94, when Old-school Death Metal lost the small bit of polularity it had. Today the the only good stuff is Power Metal, Melodeath (Finland and early Sweden and "the Thrash Ressurrection) - but that's ofc the underground stuff, not good bands gone commercial and lame like In Flames, DragonForce and Children of Bodom.

Although, none of that stuff can beat 80s Thrash and early 90s Death -stay true, kill posers-

  • It seems to be that your indeed making yet another of the most commonly used/abused broad generalizations that metal has managed to cough up over the years. If you 'go back' and examine the crucial aspects of each specific 'scene' at the time, you will find that what you have stated here is certainly not the case.

  • @Melodeath00 Lamb of God kicks ass and they're modern. I see them as the new Pantera, but nothing can replace Pantera.

  • @Melodeath00 gama bomb is a newer thrash band thats pretty good

  • For a sec when I saw the title I expected some Riffs from a song by Artillery. How can you NOT include them?! One of the most amazing thrash bands ever

  • yeah they're cool, but they sound really generic to me. sorry ;)

  • i guess you havent heard the by inheritance album the songs on that album are all fuckin bad rip beneath the clay is the best

  • FUCK YESS!!!!

  • I think people, instead of bitching should just enjoy the music. Heavy metal is about the individual, not the herd. Enjoy it or don't but just be glad it was here at all.

  • Good compilation. Big plus for Vio-lence and using my favorite Destruction track Sign of Fear.

  • How about posting something that's not on wikipedia. These are riffs from basic thrash bands, well known amongst thrash fans. well at least you didn't mention the "big 4 of thrash"

  • i'm trying to educate the godamn noobs first of all, secondly, I wanted to put up the riffs that I admired the most from these well known bands. as for unknown generic thrash bands there's plenty on utube already, if i do post anything obscure it's because it really does deserve more recognition, not to impress ppl that know it all already like you.

  • he mentioned slayer

  • Love IT!

  • It's all right, I understand that you've been brought up on a steady diet of soft and simple music for the sensitive soul, and therefore your ears are ill equipped to deal with anything else.

  • no sepultura??? otherwise, great list...

  • check prt2 for some sep

  • Good job!!!

  • but wa'bout riff randall ?

i used to own that vio-lence album, great stuff...the DA & sacred reich sounded incredible, they say x must revisit the vault

this collection goes to prove, the mighty voltronsky has many a trick up his..sleeve

    (i crack myself up)

  • you should definetly get DA's debut 'The Ultra-Violence' it's an all-out buffet o'riffs worthy of a pet cementary party. Dont be a pinhead no more!

  • I remember picking up 'The Ultra-Violence' on cassette right when it came out, got that one, Dark Angel Darkness Descends, Megadeth Peace Sells But Who's Buying, Reign in Blood as well if I remember it right. It was great growing up with those badass metal bands man. Others like Exodus, Annihilator, Nuclear Assault, Overkill, Anthrax, Celtic Frost, Destruction, Venom, Sacrifice, Possessed, fuck yeah I still dig em all!!!!

  • yea thats great! and now look at what we have to grow up with :(
