As far as my largely unsuccessful research has gone, the reason the Genesis was so good at recreating this music is because the original arcade sound chip and the Genesis sound chip are quite closely 'related'. Both Yamaha chips. But I might be wrong. Certainly don't hear the MegaDrive sounding this good normally. In the wrong hands it sounded downright disasterous.
@DSDMovies Genesis/Megadrive's sound chip was way superior to Snes sound chip.it was made by Yamaha while Snes' was made by sony.the yamaha chip produced more "punch".thats why we are still listening to it in 2011.
i remember this tune, mostly due to the pizza monsters which swam below the turtles, and surfaced to attack them. Wait, that doesn't make any sense. if the pizza creatures are able to swim, then why are the turtles walking on it?
