  • pardon my candid remarks here... it seems this Hummer was designed by a mahcine designer. I am not sayin video is bad but just makes me wonder if GM really designs the Cars this way. NX has highly sophisticated tools for styling and it will be shame if GM does not utilize any of that. Besides, Hummer is not the best way to depict how GM designs the car. Also, to whoever said, car styling is symetrical... ever heard of NURBS?

  • Well it's a good start. You should check out my H1 Hummers I made out of zmodeler. This is my 2nd account of hosting stuff, and hopeing on making some mre of my rides soon for this account.

  • I don't have one. I just looked at a picture I found on a google image search.

  • coul you please pass me the file i need to get the sizes and the geometry of that car.

  • Here is a tip - Vehicles are symmetrical. Draw a line on the centerline and mirror all sketch geometry. Cuts your work in half!

    Peter

  • um i did do that, with the wheels...

and they are not totally symetrical, one side has a steering wheel.. XD

  • I use NX3 at General Motors but we only work on single parts at at time but can load the entire car up as an assembly. You next step could be to use free form sheets to trim your solid to give it some shape rather than just flat sides. Don't have to start again just roll back in the part navigator and trim your block. Looks good though.

  • easier said than done.

like i know what your saying, but i really don't know how to do that. any way you could show me how? i only had one class and it didn't even show me half of the features that i used to make that.

any way you can show me how to do that sheet thing and compile parts into an assembly?

    i'd appreciate it. thanx

  • Hey.. good job on the hummer... though I think what czr was saying was to make line sketches... and then exxtrude em... and then use the Trim Body funtion to trim the bodies... though you have more prfound movie editing skills! :D

    Cheers

  • you find me a PLE of Maya and I'll think about it. But currently I'm content with just learning NX5.

  • Its on their site (Alias Maya)

  • blah, Maya associates all image file types to itself by default. not the best idae imo.

  • You wanna get ya hands on a cracked copy of Maya & start playing! Its a little hardcore but when ya get into it theres no going back :P

  • I don't use illeagal keys or cracked software. Just a rule of mine.

  • Fair enough, but in the interest of learning you cant be expected to pay a couple of grand just to boost ya skills... there always the PLE (Personal Learning Edition)

  • f**k u man u make look so simple, am still learning the software as it new to my uni this year, got ant tips? weldone n keep doin wat u do best. nice1 mate

  • not really sure if i should take offense to that comment or not... lol

    and thx

  • h1 is a good vehicle to practice with like that - its all about function not sleek design. nice vid and good work

  • thanks man, you should check my new one where i made a 30" rim, i'm i little happier with how it looks, even if it is less complicated...

  • super. thx for the vid. and the song?

  • girls not grey -AFI

wings of a butterfly - HiM

  • neat work - but it would ve been better if the video was slow enough for me to practice - thanks for the video !!!

  • trust me, you didn't want a hour and a half long video to sit through...

like i said, i'm just learning how to use it, and doing the grill was really hard for me caus i had never drawn a sketch in midair like that.

    Peace,

    Brandon
