This mech is too good. The Valguard can just tank like everything with a massive HP amount with great armor and dodging ability. The only problem is that it's EN runs out fast, lookss fat and bulky, but it's amazing.
I'd say the Valguard looks more "incomplete" than "ugly". If I wasn't aware that it could also transform into the Valzacard, I'd suspect it wouldn't end in just one transformation.
Admitely it's not so sleek (not even as I might have expected) still there's just something about just overpowering a target like this does. About the breaking through layers of armor... see the Red Astray's hidden finisher.
...I keep expecting that thing's main pilot to make a Daimos referrence after his Seikenzuki-ish attack. :p
Nice robot...although, for whatever reason, it gives me the following image: what if R-1 was a Super Robot? One'd probably get a machine quite like this one.
true, looks may be deceiving, ugly units may have the power to pwn, juz look at ideon n zeorymer for example, they are butt ugly, but they deal massive damage
Ugly? I say it's beautiful in it's own way. With modern mecha design becoming kinda repetitive, this kind of retro-simplistic design gives me a heartwarming feeling.
Also, this mech may be called a beauty queen if compared to the original SRX (now that's scary).
I'd take this one over Valzacard any day, ripping your enemy apart is my kind of finishing blow!
Ever notice valgaurd's head is similar to the SRX?

I bet enemy grunts wake up in cold sweat, shivering after seeing cross proton punisher performed on one of their comrades. I probably would.
There's just something beautifully malicious in blowing up somebody from inside like that.

Hm? But, the Valhawk isn't a super... (Or, it wasn't when I last saw it. Kazuma, what have you been doing to my robot!?)
It wouldn't be nearly as chunky, though. Maybe if the R-2 was a super, it'd have enough size to rival the Valguard.
