If u miss, u r in a bad situation, it seems. The no better styles argument was just invented to avoid hurting people's feelings, it's just dumb
Taekkyon acurately practiced with good technique, then the real results are deadly. One of the most actually, the dance and grace is for the mental. complete relaxation. giving you quicker reflexes and a quicker mind. I call it the art of the dancing ninjas. and when the kick is performed correctly it is with the ball of the foot.
0:35 was awesome, truly lethal kicking. got to love the bajiquan form and it's applications. kyukushinkai is tough as usual, still amazing. the dongyi taekkyun practicioner also had nice deadly kicks though i prefer the south korean taekkyun because of the slightly more graceful movements. what i'm saying is that all of these arts benefit the practitioner in their own way, but if practiced with dedication and dicipline they all lead to the same result, fulfillment and serious fighting skills.
ssey2000, thanks for sharing the serie, excellent videos, I have learn a lot of Taekkyun, It looks a lot like Capoeira. And the best is that you can see how much they enjoy while doing it too, and the respect and friendship they have with different styles masters.
do not ignore korea.. korea is same with china. korea has 5,000 years history... korea is not under level and history than china. korea is more and same with china.. korea is not modern country. this country is old and past, historical country..
Taekkyon vs any style will never be much of a fight
taekkyon always has been a gentleman's way to defend himself. even when you break it down to technique. comparing kyokushin front kick to taekkyon: kyokushin has a thrusting motion with the ball of the foot, while taekkyon opts for a pushing technique with the flat of the foot. the style just is not made to really harm anyone. it is in essence a means for nullifying the aggresion of others and defending yourself, at most stunning your opponen
@KidFonz1 it seems to me taekkyon has both motions. Taekkyon was used for fighting in the past, so maybe it's still useful. Do you practice taekkyon, meaning, r u talking from experience? I don't, that's why I ask.
all these styles are good, but kyokushin has the advantage of recently being re-enthused by a master who didnt just practice a lot but also fought a lot, thus tuning up the techniques that are more effective and avoiding the ones that are more flashy and less practical.
not to mention, while it is an ever-ongoing debate between fists and feet, however when they meet generaly trained fists win over trained feet, almost without exception, simply because people naturally use their hands most.
you'll notice the kyokushin guy was going easy on the older masters out of respect, but it is obvious he could have beaten them all easily. naturally so, he has the bigger, stronger, tougher body. however every 1 of these arts shown here can be lethal, and it is possible they could also have beaten/killed him, but not in a friendly match where both sides purposely pull punches/kicks and avoid injuring the other.
I watched the whole ep and neither side went full nor easy on each other. Old master also took on both Kyokyushin guys one after another. He stopped each fight midway if it looks like it was getting too intense to prevent anyone from getting hurt.
I think that's true for any art. Once you reach a certain level, it's not just about how strong you are, but knowing when to quit to prevent injuries as it'd be pointless.
That just means the Kyokushin master is a better fighter. It doesn't mean Kyokushin is a better style. There are no better styles, there are just better fighters.
see this,ba ji quan means the ba gua formation mentioned in taoism:If u overwork from u original axis line,u will destroy urself earlier than ur opponent, then the overworking of yours far away from ur original axis line gives the offensive chances back to ur opponent),tats y u can see the differences between chinese martial art with all the others except african martial art.when the taekwando guy fought with sifu,he use side kick, the sifu doesn't do any forward movement and punch him offbalance.
question for u all:Why bruce lee's speed is diferent than all others?(except judo+gracie jiujitsu that evolves the power of ground force and gravity + momentum)From my perspective, bruce has the basic of WINGCHUN BOXING STYLE of 消打(invinsible puching fist) which allows bruce to use it in offensive, with that basic fighting theory plus with his trained speed,he can execute efectively when facing an trained opponent,of course with a lot of knowledge in martial art.
well after more of personal research and investigation ive found that korea martial arts seems to fit perfectly when combined. korean swordsmanship is absolutely astonishing with lots of rotational moves just like its unarmed counterpart. Its quite easy to see why the unarmed aspect relies more on kicks and less on hands since if you had a sword in hand you could still kick your opponents if neccesary
I found that most of the korea useful movement like the one from 3.31 to 3.36,c?,one line axis, prevent time wasting, one hit to the opponent(he uses two in one),while for the taekwando master(from 3.39 to 3.43),2 blocks are used to block 1 hand and one hand to strike, but slowly then i realize why does the taekkyun techniques chnage so dramatically from 2 in 1 until 1 blow just like the one in 3.44 to 3.48.
Sooo wanna learn taekkyun. Alas, I'm in America, but I love practicing Taekwondo. Anyone know of any taekkyun schools in America, or will I need to go to Korea?
Hmm, really interesting art, it maybe looks even more attractive than taekwondotaekwondo. But it isn't really the same like taekwondo, i know because i trained taekwondo for 2 years and i was actually very good at it i was even a champion of Serbia once! But i got bored by it :) anyway, as i see there are some elements of wrestling in taekkyun which is absolutely forbidden in taekwondo. Anyway, cool martial art.
I've done Taekkyun for 9 years. YAY! Lol. Na, a good element for Taekkyun against ignorant (Not being racist, I'm pinpointing you know the wannabe gangstas, or guys that think they're cool just cos they're muscly or whatever) foreigners. They see our stance and laugh, come in for the punch and find they underestimated their opponent.
would that not be true for any art that has an unusual approach, different angles of attack, etc.? An interesting matchup would be Taekkyun and Capoeria.
Taekkyun vs Tai Chi would be awesome. One has a lot of kicking one has a lot of hands. Both are fluid and beautiful and to see that would be incredible.
korean martial arts looks nice. can be effective at long range. but up close its almost fricken useless. probably ok for sport. just making yourself fall after an attack is suicidal. anyone worth 2 cents would either jump on you or kick you while your down
the part where he was getting battered by the kyukushin guy? or against one of the other guys that WASNT using taekkyun?
It just doesnt seem like a practical art for war. perhaps its changed throughout teh years but in its current state it doesnt look like it. too many openings in its defence and commitment to attacks whcih if it doesnt take them out leaves you open as hell
The thing about Taekkyun is that it's a lucid form which DODGES the moves and turns the attackers momentum against them when they attack. It wasn't used for war, it was used for passive aggressive self denfence.
Hey,u say Bajiquan is from korea,it is actually from China where the trading company of bodyguard called 镖局(biao ju) used this technique against all their enemies when they ambushed thm on the road to their destination.of coz,y i say so?coz i saw that taekwandoist on the China's CCTV Channel(走遍中国),i mean the guy named pak hyung taek,he came to china and fight with the Ba Ji Quan master and he lose all!But at the same time,he want to learn that stuffs.
that why the sign wave movement of taekwond ITF similiar to the sign wave movement of Taekyon..not taekwondo WTF okay..I refer to Taekwondo ITF..Im 2nd dan ITF and 2nd Dan WTF..there are different between this two taekwondo..and the only different is that ITF practice a sign wave..soft but hard at the ending..like taekyon..practice it and u will see the different..dont just talk crap!!!
Taekyon(Old Korean Martial art) + Karate = Forming Taekwondo (ITF)..Actually Late General Choi Hong Hii learn Taekyon and Karate then he create Taekwondo(i Heard during Grand Master Choi Speech)...Dont deny it...the Founder of Taekwondo Is GeneraL Choi..and his Son..Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa Still teaching taekwondo to everyone in the world...
i think kungfu is better then taekwon do, but taekyon, if you do it right it has massive about of potential. it depends on the person i think, regardless of martial arts.
i have to agree. Any kind of martial arts or fighting style depends on the person. All styles were made for a reason, it depends on the fighter how well he or she is prepared to fight.
indeed~ then again, even taekwondo... if they stop training it like a sport and more into an actual offensive combat m/a , like kicking trees , instead of bags and etc i think it would be deadly/
no fo sho baji quan is chinese, but i think the guy in the vid is a korean practitioner of that art, so the vid is just all the top korean practitioners not korean martial arts
i highly doubt it, Taekyun just recently returned to Korea after being dormant because of the Japanese occupation in korea, the number of Taekyun practitioners number only in the hundreds and are all in korea, so it probably wont start spreading out of korea for a really long time
Blaming the dormancy of Taekkyun on the Japanese is a bit unfair, if they opposed the locals practicing martial arts how does one explain the vast number of Koreans that learned for example karate, kendo and judo during Japanese rule? The more likely culprit is the cultural elite in Korea prior to 1910 regarding all MA as barbaric and dirty.
they japanese didn't oppose locals practicing martial arts, they opposed the locals taking part of anything with Korean culture, taekkyun is part of korean culture. When the japanese occupied korea, Taekkyun was still around, and the japanese wanted to erase korean culture and replace it with japanese culture; banning korean martial arts and replacing it with japanese martial arts.
you seem to know more then i do though, can you tell me bout the cultural elite? can't find much on em
They are all good styles, but I am new to the world taekkyon (Though I knew early on that Tae Kwon Do is derived in part from Taekkyon). This is the second time I've seen that kyokushin master (The one that fought the Taekkyon master in the first round). Great video.
I beg to differ. TKD was not at all developed from TK. SOme have made the claim....now. But history shows that its not true. Everyone is Korean in this Video Clip. KBS brodcasting made documentary for finding real Korean martial artists. Kyokushin was invented by Korean in Japan who immigrated long time ago.
Are they North Koreans? Cause I heard they were the best in the world certainly they are most vicious and independant and stronger they defeated the US the only Nation ever to do that, pretty cool.
NK are not the only team to beat usa NK are not the most vicious or strongest many nations have beaten both usa and NK and are hvery hard fighters,,dont think the koreans are the saviors of tkd ,go look at mark miller hes old school
The guy in pink shirt and pants is Wu Liangzhi, a Ba Ji Quan master from Cang Zhou County in Hebei, China. The Korean title means 'In Search of Top Master'.

About 1 year for boxing
About 2 years for Muay thai
About 3 years for technical stuff like TKD, Jiu-jiutsu, Kung fu.

Practice for 8 years though and you will be practically untouchable with taekkyun or tai chi quan

I knew it was south because the north would never allow this to be filmed. I didn't notice the flag. I was being sarcastic too.

The guy in pink shirt and pants is Wu Liangzhi, a Ba Ji Quan master from Cang Zhou County in Hebei, China. The Korean title means 'In Search of Top Master'.
