What's still amazing is,they still talk about Mae West, not so much about Raquel,I guess because Mae made a few good movies,Can Ms.Welch really say that?
Mae and those sexy black guys... entertainment plus!
Not a good movie at all, "Myra", as clumsy and disjointed as the kindest critics said. The same year's "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls", its tie for 1970's worst, has become a cult masterpiece, but "Myra Breckinridge" is a curio one sits through once.
Except for the "Too Hard to Handle" sequence: old Mae was leaving some latterday gold.
How amazingly weird this is, and really good too. It's just fascinating. I've never heard of the movie before...something to look into. Thank You ! ! I too cannot believe how well preserved she is. What the...?
O.M.G., ONE OF MAE WEST'S LAST APPEARANCES (THE FEMALE VERSION OF DORIAN GRAY), THE FIRST EVER BY TOM SELLECK & FARAH FAWCETT, RACQUEL WELCH WAS SUPERB, AND EVEN REX REED WAS A MOVIE STAR IN 1970'S MYRA BRECKENRIDGE. THANK YOU FOR POSTING M.W.'s INTERPRETATION OF THIS OTIS REDDING CLASSIC. DAVEDJ
