  • J.D. sang bass so effortlessly and naturally.

  • how dos he do it? the deepest throat since "debbie does dallas" !!!

  • That's Donnie Sumner, J.D.'s nephew, in the center. Look for him doing solo, and his testimony, he'll make you cry with joy for how the Lord brought him through some terrible times. ~OneKewpie~

  • Was the young guy on the right Jimmy Blackwood?

  • oh heck yeah this guy is groovey bass is great way to go him and Richard Sturban rocks they can sing it deeply passion way to go guys thanks for the feed

  • This takes me back, thanks for posting this. I love the old quartet sound.

  • I am looking for a singer named Don Terry that sang with the Stamps prior to JD

  • Love watching this.....

  • now this is some singing. My church,

Oh my, I can feel the spirit

  • made me cry...praise the Lord.

  • strange doubt in his eyes at the deep end, like he thinks that somehow he's just making funny noises

  • I can't believe no on has noticed who was playing bass for the Stamps Quartet. Mylon LeFevre.

  • What a clear copy I downloaded it to dvd and it looks great thank you for this post of a true classic. I love finding and recording this old time music we love it thanks again for a masterpeace for sure.

  • Is that guy in the middle J.D.'s nephew Donnie?

  • Yes

  • Great! thank you carteru93.

  • you're very welcome! He can be seen in some of the other Gaither videos on here, much older, seems to look a little more like JD now though.

  • Yeah he really does! The resembalance is uncanny.

  • I love what he did with his head at 0:27!

  • JD wasn't a baritone singer. He was a bass singer.

  • Yes, one day we will all go home from this wayfaring journey......!Love this video!!!

  • JUST GREAT SUPER SONG AND QUARTET...

  • jd is in the Guinness book of records for lowest baritone wonder if anyones better i dont think so

  • J D Sumner got into the guinness book of world records for the lowest recorded note ever produced by a human voice. He hit a "double low" C that was recorded in 1984, but made the guinness book of records in 1988. unfortunatly... tim storms broke the record... but JD is still the best to me!

  • Must have been the early 60's on this one, before Mylon started singing baritone.

  • I believe Sumner went with the Stamps in late 65 so it couldn't have been in the early 60's.

  • Mylon started with the Stamps when Jon Hall was the bass for the early Stamps. I have a Skylite recording entitled Go Ye which I purchased in 192 thru 1964....can't remembe the date.

  • Can't type worth a shoot! The Stamps reorganized in 1962 and Jon Hall was the bass then....JD did not change over until 1965, changing places with Jon Hall who went to the Blackwood Brothers...1964 was the date on the album!

  • Awesome!!Tarzan on piano, Hill,Sumner and Blackwood trioing repeats. Mylon and Duke adding to the band and of course "The Lowest Bass In The World" JD!!! Love it!

  • Love the music, love bass singers

  • these guys sang for elvis

  • Nothing strange about it, just beautiful.

  • Very strange.

  • Umm, why?

  • why ???

  • Excelente vídeo!! Adorei

  • JD was a very christlike person. See what mark lowry says about him.

  • @benwrong46 you are so "benright"!!!!

  • Sing it J. D.
