If you fear that something is going to happen you'll do something to reduce the chances of it happening. It's called foresight. Take the necessary steps to protect yourself and others. Canadians love more than enough. They give more to charity per capita than most other countries. It's funny and sad at the same time, that a man who presumed to tell Canadians to be loving, didn't have the generosity of spirit to ask for donations for a charity that wasn't connected to his political party. The NDP mentioned a larger tax break to entice mourners to donate to The Broadbent Institute rather than a non-partisan charity.

Asking for donations to be made to a charity that benefits all Canadians regardless of their politics would be in keeping with Layton's 'legendary' concern for ALL Canadians.

He spoke to ALL Canadians in his final letter.He didn't stipulate that he ONLY cared for those Canadians who support the NDP.
