A big reason "LAH" failed was because of the hype. Mark Canton hyped this thing so shamelessly that everyone was setting it up for a fail, especially since he declared it would be the biggest flick of 1993 (when it was up against "Jurassic Park" no less). So it had that against it going in.
But a big problem it has is that Arnold doing a spoof of himself is redundant because Arnold pretty much spoofs himself in EVERY film he does. There's no point to this.

Come on nostalgia critic! You are trying to find fault with the whole 'film within a film' when the whole point is that the whole 'slater' franchise is supposed to be a parody and is Mctiernan sending up the whole genre and some of its ludicrous elements. In fact a big deal is made in the film of the fact the Arnie caracter can never die in the film world, like the action hero he is, but can in the real world. They even have an animated cat for crying out loud! Its a parody!
The movie was bad, but i did like the part where Arnold finds the cards, and that tells him theres a bomb...i always liked that for some reason. Maybe cause it was creative!

Never seen this movie, but don't plan to. I understand it's a parody but it seems too obvious. All of the jokes are spelled out for us which kind of defeats the idea of a parody. Good idea, weak execution.
Like a lot of others said, this movie is taking the piss out of 80s cliche action movies. It's actually a really smart movie, one that lovers of the classic action movies (made before this one) are sure to understand. Full of references too.
And it's sad that NC mentioned two such references and DIDN'T GET THEM! The "awkward slow mo" scene is a reference to the end of Die Hard. And the "laughing saxaphone" is a CLEAR reference to Lethal Weapon. NC is either blind or desperate to make jokes.

Except for the sax joke and the acres joke (which I admit, weren't criticized well), he doesn't mock the "Jack Slater world" in Part 1. The only thing he really gets wrong is Art Carney, and that's only because somebody uploaded the wrong video to his account. Seriously, why isn't this video replaced with the other one?

Nc, qui ha toppato alla grande! Il film è secondo me troppo pirandelliano, metalinguistico e avanti per l'epoca per essere stato apprezzato. Ancora adesso il film non è ancora compreso: un' idea troppo avanguardistica per l'epoca per essere recepita. Ma a quanto pare, anche per ora!
Ongi tanto si notano però le gravi carenze e le visioni limitate proprio tipiche da nerd, anche con il NC. Tutta logica e razionalità ma mai comprensione e lettura delle sfumature ed oltre le apparenze!

A big reason "LAH" failed was because of the hype. Mark Canton hyped this thing so shamelessly that everyone was setting it up for a fail, especially since he declared it would be the biggest flick of 1993 (when it was up against "Jurassic Park" no less). So it had that against it going in.
But a big problem it has is that Arnold doing a spoof of himself is redundant because Arnold pretty much spoofs himself in EVERY film he does. There's no point to this.

LAME. The nostalgia critic is a desperate-wanna-be-funny reviewer and bitching about the last action hero was his worst idea. LAH is one of the best arnold's flick. It's no fucking CASABLANCA (of course Mr nostalgia critic, you are a fucking genius!), it is just a god damn good movie, made for guys who love the bad-ass flicks of the 80's and early 90's. BTW folks, wanna watch a worthy review of LAH? Just cut and paste in youtube: "ramboraph4life last action hero review" and ENJOY THE SHOW! :)

Come on nostalgia critic! You are trying to find fault with the whole 'film within a film' when the whole point is that the whole 'slater' franchise is supposed to be a parody and is Mctiernan sending up the whole genre and some of its ludicrous elements. In fact a big deal is made in the film of the fact the Arnie caracter can never die in the film world, like the action hero he is, but can in the real world. They even have an animated cat for crying out loud! Its a parody!

Like a lot of others said, this movie is taking the piss out of 80s cliche action movies. It's actually a really smart movie, one that lovers of the classic action movies (made before this one) are sure to understand. Full of references too.
And it's sad that NC mentioned two such references and DIDN'T GET THEM! The "awkward slow mo" scene is a reference to the end of Die Hard. And the "laughing saxaphone" is a CLEAR reference to Lethal Weapon. NC is either blind or desperate to make jokes.
