@7isanumber If I remember right, when Stanford used to beat Cal at home, the Stanford fans would go on the field to celebrate, while the Cal fans would go on the field to attack the Tree. So not only did you have the away fans on the field, you had the home fans on the field after a loss.

Yeah, too close, thanks to Tedford's bonehead decision to kick the field goal. I mean, as woeful as there kicikoffs were, even if they had gone for it and failed, the distance that Stanford would have had to go for a field goal wouldn't have been any farther, and if they had made it, it would have clinched the game.

It's not so bonehead if you consider that if we are only up by 3 all they need is a FG to tie and put the game in OT. We won so it doesn't matter.
