Lehnerd57 regardless of the Hawks winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, the games at their best are just not as exciting or entertaining. 3 TV timeouts per period destroys the momentum and they seemingly always come when there is a crucial PK /PP or draw in the zone after a few hard shifts. Also, the senseless house music and hard rock songs that nobody can sing to and constant barrage of announcements and electronic entertainment have ruined the atmosphere in the NHL, along with lack of checking.
what memories i recall listening to these two teams with a radio that had these big tubes in the back gave excellent reception to see these on youtube is a treat, i actually met evertt sanipass in moncton nice guy and we chatted about his chicago days, to soon his career ended a bad back if mrmory serves me , classic hockey where does the time go thank you for the memmories and actually seeing not hearing the game.
Ciccarelli,Rouse,Beaupre for Gartner,Murphy and a draft pick...hate the new NHL and the cap...real trades rarely happen anymore...these days the accounting depts. call the tune...the days of interesting trades and the personalities and hockey strategy involved are over...
This was a great rivalry. I hated the Northstars! Hated them! I miss their uniform though. I became a huge BlackHawks fan listening to these games on the radio with Pat Foley. Foley was awesome.
@StanOllie18 Agree!!!...listen to that organ..new stadiums have no personality ,feeling or character...Chicago Stadium like the other original six arenas were part of the fabric of the game...they were payers in the game themselves...corporate sponsored stadiums, with their luxury boxes, boards and ice surface covered in spam, constant blasting of music and screaming moronic PA announcers, shoot-outs: all part of the gimmickery and dumbing down of the new NHL...really miss the game i grew up with
i miss the kind of hockey where players hold each other accountable instead of watching instigator penalties compound problems.

I still have a hard time dealing with the fact we lost our team, and mostly the name/logo! North Stars were a perfect fit for Minnesota!!

I Love how you have the full brawl.

I guess the good thing about this penalty-palozza was that the Hawks and Stars skated to a mercifully peaceful tie..

I used to watch these games at the old Met Center in Minn - standing room only. "Secord Sucks" was the standard chant. I miss that rivalry!

Man the North Stars and Hawks rivalry was awesome in 1989!! Too bad Norm Green moved them and Gary Bettman killed all Norris Division rivalries.

Roenick as a rookie. Savvy centering line 1. Roenick line two. Fucking sick.
