yes ipod 1st gen can be jailbroken u do it by downloadin quickpwn which u should google it literally takes 10mins to jailbrake

if you feel its messing your ipod up, all you have to do is restore it... no damage done. i had my ipod jailbroken for about a year... no damage. i got the new 2g one now, dont think this one is jailbreakable.

maybe your restore firmware is not the correct format. if you got it from the link i gave you, there should be no problems. you firmware would most likely be (.Isp)
