Why wouldn't sci fi give us one more season of this fine show? Caprica is great, but it's missing that which made Galactica so great: Adama, Tigh, Baltar, Romo, Cavil, Roslin, Cain, & all the others!
I know but one more year wouldn't have killed the show. My only complaint with this show was the lack of development with Pegasus. They could have easily gotten another season out by fleshing out the Pegasus characters, intermingling the Galactica crew with the Pegasus crew, keeping Cain around a little longer to mix things up, and doing a string of pure battle episodes.
Oh well, it was still great and I STILL want one more year from this show damn it!
Yeah, I know what you mean about Pegasus I think that's why they made Razor really. I wish there was more to come too! That said, its always best to leave something wanting more than to leave it feeling a bit jaded by the whole experience because it went on too long. Plus it was bad ass when Cain got killed and don't forget the new tv movie 'Battlestar Galactica: Plans'
Yeah, Razor was very entertaining however, it was dubbed as the "untold story of the Battlestar Pegasus", yet the Pegasus characters were in maybe 1/3 of the film. As much as I love the BSG main characters, I didn't need or much want to see them in Razor. All I wanted was to see Cain, the XO, Fiske, Stinger, Narcho, Garner, Showboat, Thorne, Laird, & the Sunshine Boys and their story. The flashback to Cylon War I was awesome, but it bogged down Pegasus' story. I am looking forward to The Plan.
Sci Fi didn't cancel it. The creators decided to end it at season 4. They did not know for sure if it would get picked up for a 5th season, and they didn't want to get halfway through season 4 and find out they have to end it in a few episodes. They wanted to make sure they got to the end on their terms, and they did.
Sci Fi did not outright cancel it, but it was a soft cancel if you will. After frakking with RDM's writing style post-New Caprica (making him write more standalone eps rather than multi-ep arcs in season three to boost ratings), they watched their ratings slip. RDM was allowed to return the series to its roots, but that was only after he realized Sci Fi would not give him the number of season he wanted. I remember an interview with RDM/DE 3 yrs back stating they envisioned doing six seasons.
i totally agree with you. i have to say: i´ve just finished watching the show for my self here in germany just a few days ago, and "daybreak 1+2" really blew my mmind away. along with LOST battlestar has turned out to be my favorite tv-show: great story, great cinematography, and yes: great actors as well. i miss the show so much....but the end was terrific to me.

The writers wanted to end it before the writer's strikes so it wouldn't go crap
