  • I disliked this.

This is about the most laughable piece of pro-war propaganda i've ever seen. I had to cringe to make it through the whole video.

  • I returned home from Desert Shield/Storm 21 years ago this St Patrick's Day. I am still serving and have been on 4 deployments in three different wars and this song is as powerful today as it was 21 years ago, It still makes me cry today, Its too bad celebs couldn't do something now. This song will forever remain in my heart and all those wonderful people whom came together to create this historical masterpiece I sincerely thank you for touching my life in a big way with this song. D.Ainsworth

  • I'm 13 and we sing this song in choir. I love it.

  • this makes me cry god bless you

  • Jani Lane Jani Lane....I miss and love you!

  • There was so many singers, celebrities and sports athletes in this video it isn't funny. I thought this video was as good if not better then We Are The World, only because of the number of people they got involved. The husband and wife who did this didn't have a lot of pull like a Michael Jackson or Quincy Jones. See a very young Celine Dion sing her heart out was amazing. This and We Are The World I much get on video.

  • To those that have served and are still serving:

Thank You for defending freedom and citizens of this nation.

God Bless You and your family.

    Happy Veterans' Day.

  • kenny g!

  • The 8 people who disliked this are either fans of terrorists or born idiots

  • There are so many great singers in this, and I remember when this came out. Good cause and very good song.

  • Luther Vandross, he had a great voice. :)

  • Now all the celebs would be singing songs for the enemies, traitorous Hollywood bastards.

  • the best way to end the songs, with warren wiebe soulful voice.. R.I.P

  • @halfmoonserenadeblog It was soulful..

  • R.I.P. Jani Lane

  • YOU ARE THE VOICE AND LIGHT! :'-D

  • @snoop0851 Will you stop dissing everyone's favorite singers? Have you got a problem with a person who's hoping her boyfriend will come back alive? Man, were you drunk when you wrote those insensitive comments? I mean, even if you're from Afghanistan, you should still try and understand the feeling of wanting a loved one to come back alive!

  • Ralph Tresvant is the BEST!!! With you all the way

  • i saw diz song at high school

  • Michael Jordan the best

  • luther...THE REAL

  • true talent here now days they would use auto tune and mess it up like they did the new we are the world..it was for a good cause but musically it was a big hot mess ..only because MJ was not around to direct it along side mr.Richie ...

  • @snoop0851 well 220+ million albums sold and countless celebrities say she doesnt suck...

  • @snoop0851 I agree. Too much Michael Bolton.

  • when Celine Dion hit that big note i got chills...this song is beautiful

  • This song is 20 years old! I used to sing this song during the end of my sixth-grade year! It was spectacular!

  • I'm a Marine in Afghanistan right now and this song is da bomb but I think they should update it by singing it again with today's celebs.

  • Reminds me so much of 9/11. :( Such a lovely and meaningful song!

  • Will Smith the height of coolness, Kevin Costner the height of drop dead gorgeous. Love you both <3

  • my bf is currently in Afghanistan with the US Army..hoping he comes home soon :(

  • who is at 3:52?? cute

  • @annanicolecostan That was Down Town Julie Brown. And Yes. She was cute.

  • Two words. Garey Busey. 3:38

  • They should do a song like this for the homeless. I think this would give them hope. Voices that care for everyone!

  • i like how will smith is in the video. my choir sang this song for a veterans day assembly and it moved the entire audience. One of my friends sang the last solo and did amazing:)

  • I remember I was in Camp Lejeune, waiting to be deployed, alone away from my family when I heard this song. It still touches me after all these years. I hope that the celebrities know how much this song meant to me and many others.

  • Believe it or not I own the actual video! The guy who did the demo's has an amazing voice! And it was really nice to see (as a 10 year old) how kind and caring people can be!

  • @eitherway28 Yeah, people care enough to use a serious issue to make a self-congratulatory commercial for their movies, TV shows or albums. I'd like to see how many of these celebs would be willing to take a bullet for an American soldier whose life is in danger.

  • @FuguGoulash I understand what you're saying, however, I had an uncle fight in that war! And he had a great appreciation for this video! It brought him a little piece of home and happiness! It meant a great deal that people weren't just sitting at home not giving a crap! Not everyone is cut out for the military! But, that doesn't make them bad people! Everyone has their own way of supporting our country and it's people and bringing peace to this world!

  • Whether or not you supported the war, this video was a great token of support for the American soldiers whose lives were in danger. This could never happen today...most of today's celebrities would not want to be associated with support for the military in any way.

  • @michaelpc64 Maybe, but on the other hand, most celebrities are always down to publicly lend their support to some cause (and their support might not even be sincere) in order to stay in the spotlight. When this song was new, my dad was fuming about how obviously "phony" the whole project is (as in lots of melodramatic gestures, a very showbiz kind of atmosphere, too much sentimentality, self-congratulatory behavior, etc.).

  • 6:00

LMFAO! "If I was a female I would of had makeup run down my face because it really touched me."

This is by far the sappiest piece of propaganda ever created!

    Comedy on an epic level.

  • @HuckMeHard That guy looks so much like Major Dad. Lol!

  • michael bolton has a powerful voice..!!

  • michael bolton has a powerful voice..!!

  • YEAH DESERT STORM!!! rofl... "im not here to justify the cause..." lol

cant believe i liked the song as a kid but i guess when you dont know whats going on everything sounds good

  • we sung this in my choir class, i got the first boys solo

  • 2:11 Will Smith!

  • 0.33 Peter Cetera!

  • How did Kenny Rogers and Jimmy Buffett get stuck in the choir and not have a main part?

  • The 5 ppl who dislike this are communist pieces of shyt. Stand tall stand proud!

  • @Patriot4444 maybe they just don't like the song...

  • best various arrtists special behind we are the world

  • 5 people do not like great music.

  • We sang this at my 5th grade graduation

  • RIP Luther V

  • @Y2Jin99 The guy at the end is Warren Wiebe. He sang backup for many artists.

  • 2:13 is hilarious!

  • What was this a fundraiser for?

  • Oh wow! I even forgot this video existed! Why VH1 Classics is not showing it? At least we have YouTube! Great song! I didn't noted Will Smith in the clip @ 2:10, but lots of Michael Bolton, like he is now being discovered after his fatal showing on Dancing With The Stars? Lol!

  • Mike Tyson with his arm around Debbie Gibson? Only in this video! Who is the guy singing at the end? Don't recognize him. R.I.P, Luther Vandross and Dudley Moore. Look how young Fred Savage and Alyssa Milano look. Downtown Julie Brown? Wubba Wubba Wubba! Gary Busey looks wasted. Nicolette Sheridan with Harry Hamlin pre Desperate Housewives days. LOL Marilu Henner always looks good. Haven't seen her in awhile. Wonder what she is up to.

  • Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan were definitely the best in this video !

  • Only in America could Luther Vandross and Opie's brother be in the same song.

  • I remember watching this on TV for the first time and my parents saying that they only wish Vietnam Vets had this support.

  • 24th ID Desert Storm vet...... FIRST TO FIGHT...... VICTORY

  • I too am a Desert Storm Vet. I am always uplifted when I hear this song. It takes me back to the day I arrived back in my wife's and son's arms. I wish it were played more often.

  • I too am a Desert Storm vet. This song takes me back to the day I arrived back in my families arms. It always picks me up when I hear it. Too bad it isn't played more

  • thnk you.

  • It's sad that the patriotism of men and women have continually been used as fodder to serve the corporatist interests and the ideologies of demagogues. Oh well, Ignorance is truly bliss.

  • @agua197575 you are definitely right there..100 %. feel sorry for all the lives that were lost..all in vain.. but not for the corporatist..all in gain.. ignorance is truly bliss.

  • Celin Dion, Randy Travis, Peter Cetera, Will Smith, Michael Bolton, Warren Wiebe, Kenny G, Donny Osmond, Meryl Streep, Brook Sheilds, Kenny Rogers, Garth Brooks, Al Jurreau, Chevy Chase, Wow!

  • Donny Osmond is there, as did Sissy Spacek, Chevy Chase or Brooke Shields. I like the young Fred Savage. Kenny Rogers and Al Jarreau were the two singing We Are The World before Voices That Care.

  • 3:54 Great Dudley!

  • I"m a vet who served in Desert Storm.. This song still moves me very much.. I very much appreciate all the people who took time out of their day to recognize my bretheren and me. Thank you very much..

  • @jolinejb I remember doing this song for our chorus concert. I was in 7th grade as well. :-)

  • I like this song. . I remember my time when I was join the the catholic group. .

  • Other singers like Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey from (98 degrees), Paul McCartney, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, George Straight, Barbra Streisand, Bryan Adams, George Michael, Cher, Peter Gaberial, Madonna, Elton John, Billy Joel, John Mellencamp and the actors and actresses to join are Halle Berry, Demi Moore, Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Mary Steenburgen, Gene Hackman, Helen Hunt,, Leonardo Dicarpio

  • Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were not part of this. This song was recorded in 1991, Simspon debuted in 1999, while 98 Degrees debuted in 1997.

  • Check out 4.39- Mike Tyson singing next to Debbie Gibson... seriously, how scared do you think she was? That would be like if they did another tribute song and had OJ Simpson singing next to Miley Cyrus. Ahh the early 90's. By the way, what the hell was Brian Bosworth doing singing in there?

  • This was before Tyson's beating allegations.

  • ええ曲や

  • Celine Dion was the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CelineMarie61286 Amen! There is no other voice like hers.. ON THE PLANET! Best singer and vocalist I have EVER heard in my life. Pure talent! <3

  • Comment removed

  • @saritsiribud Yep, 30 years and counting for her singing career, and 43 years and counting for good looks. :D

  • @CelineMarie61286 the first guy and peter cetera are the best

    Look, there's Michael Bolton ! Hahaha !

  • i really like this song...

I was in basic at the time. Though I'm no longer in the military, I value what our soldiers are doing. I hope that they all get to come home. God bless you for posting this. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It means so much to everyone.

  • oops, i meant thought, not tought.

  • OH thanks. thats what i tought

  • does anyone know if that was Will Smith in the rapping scene? cause to me it looked like him...let me know what you think

  • Yes, it's him. And looking at the year this music is produced, it's most probably during the years he acted in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

  • Ya know...I didn't realize that was Will Smith when I very first heard this song. I just learned it the other day while I was watching this video and reminiscing. I also didn't know that Randy Travis and Garth Brooks sang in the song either. You can barely hear them.

  • this still makes me teary eyed.. love this song.

  • i get choked up, esp seeing Luther.
