Blaine was the original music mogul of Bethesda in the 60's. The Newports in all of their incarnations were one great band and my heroes, This songs was #1 for several weeks on WPGC, DC's most popular Top 40 station at the time.
@Garvoon - I'm pretty certain you're correct. You can also hear Blaine's first band the Galaxies on a rare unreleased acetate, with bandmates from his junior high school. Both sides are posted on my listings. Had the opportunity to meet him a couple months back - great guy and heckuva musician.
@deepgroovesounds - I'll check out the Galaxies ... thanks! The Newports played at my Leland Jr. High School dance for 9th grade (1965). We always followed them when the Willett brothers were in the group. I ran into Blaine about 7 years ago when they (the Newports) were playing at Backstreets. Since then, Blaine and I have hot it off very well. I've actually sat in for the Newports, recently, when Jerry couldn't play bass. Nice people, all of them!

Blaine Smith Music! He started it all for me in DC. Songwriting, publishing, lead the band, own the label.

Great song!!! I am a member of the latest incarnation of this band, and every so often we get a request for this one.
