  • I have the original Broadway soundtrack and although I adore Betty in this, I have to say I prefer the Broadway rendition of this song as a whole. It's more powerful.

  • BETTY BUCKLEY!

  • I love this scene, oh boy I have so much hair in my pussy

  • I'm doing Hair the musical in my musical comedy institute this year! In december!! I love it every day more!

  • @Elax48 @follerbr Having been in the Army myself this is done so soldiers learn about their gas masks and to trust them. It also teaches them how to stay cool in this type of situation, Which trust when I say is not an easy thing to do The gas normally used is called CS gas or simply tear gas. Hope this helps

  • @Elax48 the building is filled with CS gas, aka tear gas. You are ordered to remove your mask and yell name rank and serial number, of course that gives you a good whiff of the stuff as it burns your eyes out and irritates the crap outa your respiratory tract. CS had a peppery smell/taste to it, the burning was immediate and it also made your exposed skin burn. It permeated clothing and equipment as well. You never built up resistance to it, the exposure was for you to experience what it does.

  • @Elax48 unless i'm mistaken military personnel during training have to stay in a chamber like that filled with gas, dunno what kind of gas, probably tear gas, to build up resistance i guess.

  • @follerbr That's pretty much correct. They use CS, or tear gas. It's to drive home the finer points of using a gas mask, and to give the trainee's confidence in using their gas masks. They pull them off during the gas chamber exercise to show them that not doing this, that, or the other when exposed to poison gas will make you sick.

  • Stoners paradise B), Be free people of youtube.....

For the universe doesnt intend otherwise

  • I watch this movie 3 years ago.Scenes,music,actors,everything is fantastic.Milos Forman did a great job! <3

  • I like eat acid than going to war....never too late to peace

  • Best song from the film, Hair. I prefer the Broadway version. In the Broadway version the tribe focuses on finding peace and beauty while tripping. In the film, the focus is on the insanity of training for a war that never should have happened. I wish I had the means to fly to New York and see the play. I wish ...

  • My body

    Is walking in space

    My soul is in orbit

    With God face to face

    Floating, flipping

    Flying, tripping

  • i've loved this song since I was 10 and that was 40 years ago!

  • cunninlynguists interlude 1, now that is a nice version of this :D

  • amaizing song & movie...!!!!!!!!!!

  • The musical was way better than the movie, the sountrack was far better as well.

  • The Vietnamese girl's voice was actually overdubbed by an uncredited Betty Buckley.

  • the part when the Vietnamese girl sings is making me shivers each time, it nearly makes me cry. Its so beautiful!

  • 1:46 to 2:30 is just wonderful

  • 大好きです。

    love

  • Yes, I agree, this is the best musicial ever.. My choice for the second fvorite film only behind Kurosawa's Ran.

  • Comment removed

  • @pinkydogbear its how it's done....they walk in and become property to the government! They become a number in a way in the military. It sucks!

  • I loved this interpertation of he play...and Betty Buckley My body is walkin in space

    goooooseebumps

  • Make Love, not War!!!

  • AMEN!

  • i actually think it is a combination of both..drug experience and anti-war expression. No one is wrong...love this song and the feeling through it. Hair is the Best!!! Movie and Broadway!!!

  • GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

  • Oh hell no!

I hope that was sarcasm, but you know the movie was really antiwar?

  • Hair is the best musical ever

  • The movie (imo) sucked compared to the musical.. see it live!! it's freaking awesome and so much more moving than the movie ;)

  • @chuobio claro que si!!! :D

  • @pasameelpeta "True that"?

  • Probably my favorite song from the show - and that's saying something. This part makes me cry...

  • @ReScribbled me too.

  • @ReScribbled I love this movie but I believe the saddest song is "Let the sunshine in, when the wrong guy dies.!

  • That's Betty Buckley singing starting at 1:45

  • Betty Buckley is it? I had no idea. Great voice she has there. Thanks for letting us know.

  • The only problem I have with this is that this song is about drugs! You'd never know after the movie.

  • i really don't get what's wrong with expressing the experience of drugs or drug use through music. i don't think that's a reason to have a problem with a song.

  • @cupcake597 I think what they meant was that they movie didn't really show that that was what the song is talking about since it has the military training montage with it.

  • yeah that's true but i don't think that an artist expressing themselves through drugs is too wrong

  • awesome scene :)

  • that would be his penis

  • girls watching this movie XD

  • i wonnot join army now

  • very funny

  • Please, where is Black Boys/White Boys from this movie?

    I can't find it anymore

  • @Orjas67 If you havent found it already: watch?v=z6JCCayPG7k

  • 1:50 that girl is brilliant x3

  • @petykeee

That "girl" is the legendary Betty Lynn Buckley

  • The show is far superior to the movie.

  • i dont think so... i LOVE them both for diffrent reasons. I think the movie has a better story line but i love the "love" in the show....

  • It´s has been 44 years since human kind firsth walked in space. and et we´re still falling in the same old mistakes, which atempt against life itself.

Hoh dare we try to end this beauty?!

  • God, Betty Buckley sounds like an angel

  • Ewe

  • My God, who are the musicians?

  • I wanted to find out too, because the bassist is killing in all parts of movie! For every serious jazz fusion, or any other modern jazz bass player hair is marked as "must see". The bass player name is Wilbur Bascomb.

  • It s great, thank you very much! :)

  • on the US President subject.. I said it at one of Stone Gossard's (Pearl Jam) videos.. my solution for the next US elections is... Stone Gossard for President & Eddie Vedder his right hand.. and I also asked if US President can still play in the band?!? if NOT then forget the elections & long live Pearl Jam!! AMEN

  • Milos Forman makes me so proud to be Czech!!!!!!!! and so irritating that after the Vietnam experince, the US again elected presidents who took the country to war.. thsi has to end.. will it ever? the Pigs are in power & statism is dead or alive? David Icke has some amazing ideas on that subject, love his work.. mindblowing & very true.. Hair is a sad story and at the same time story of love and hope.. thanks for posting this amazing video!!

  • The Draft is the worst thing a society can do to its own people.

  • Everyone go to NYC and see it on Broadway!!! It's amazing!

  • Great song.....

  • what are they doing at 3:04??

why do they have to do that for training

  • They're experiencing tear gas, known as CS gas by the army. They have to do it so they know just how it affects them personally.

  • they used to I don't know if they still do. it used to be that if you were under torture you were only allowed to reveal ur name serial # or last four digits of ur social security # and ur rank.

  • If this is about what they are doing at 3:04, they are going thru the Gas Chamber. You go through first with your mask on..then they make you take your mask off and usually state your name, rank (and it used to be serial number too). They do that so that you can breath it in..and know what it's like..so when they say GAS!! you don't dilly-dally in putting your MOP Gear on. also...so that you'll Trust your Mop suit. I may have went overboard on the explanation..so my bad. LOL

  • I wasn't sure. I knew about the serial # and everything but not the other part about practice for speed. thanks.

  • Yeah, they still do it in basic. :/

  • We did Hair a few months ago and every time I stood on stage (I've sung the female solo part of walking in space) I nearly cried at these last words!

Especially at the very last show... :(

  • i like the song that goes, "our eyes are open" idk if this is it/

  • Every time I watch this scene I tear especially when she sings, beautiful.

  • I actually saw this at the theater. It was GREAT. State Theater in Ann Arbor back in the 70's

  • This is my solo in the musical!! Together with Julie <3.!!

  • Oh my gawd....it's scudder.

    Where is Ben Hawkins?

  • wonderful!

  • Quality sound track allround!!!!!

  • Béke

    (hungarian)

  • Was that really John Savage playing Bukowski? He was hot!!

  • wauuuw what a voices.. amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What are they doing in that little house? It really creeps me out... Are they like breathing in some napalm-thingy-gas-stuff?

  • sigh... they have to be able to handle tear gas...

  • the girl's voice is amazing!

  • That voice is Betty Buckley's. Not her's.

It is a beautiful voice tho.

  • lol i was suprised when i first heard it cause i cant imagine betty buckley in hair

  • This is the best musical

  • salaam

  • shalom

  • peace

  • yummi ass

  • pOR FAVOR NO HABRIA ALGUIEN QUE PODIERA TRADUCIR LAS CANCIONES DE HAIR EN ESPAÑOL ME DARIA UNA GRAN ALEGRIA

  • I adore Betty Buckley in this song, her voice is so beautiful!

But at the same time, why didn't they find an Asian girl with a voice they liked? The dubbing just seems unnecessary. I still love Betty though.

  • Thanks for this!

  • this is one of the best musicals ever !!!!

  • who is drummer of this song? who record drum on this song?

  • This song was written by Quincy Jones.

  • ...nope

  • Why would you say that?

  • I said that because he actually performed this song on one of his albums in the early 70's....in fact it's on youtube. However, I did find out tha the did not write the song.

  • I have no idea why this track is cut before Betty stars singing in my soundtrack... o0

  • that girl is awesome <3

very cute and great voice <3

  • She is very cute, but the voice belongs to Betty Buckley, who played the gym teacher in "Carrie," Abby in "Eight is Enough," and Grizabella in "Cats" .

  • Had to sing this song as Woof a couple of years ago at my former school here in Berlin. Sure brings back memories and I haven't forgotten one line in all these years. Strange! Maybe I've got the soul of a hippie in me. Already got the long hair.

  • Sight, in our school, we never had any musicals.. And if I had said anything about a hippie musical they would have stoned me to my death. But great, it's a shame there isn't that many long haired guys out there. :)

  • Is the fucking grates movie that I ever saw.

  • The Asian girl could really sing though. She went to high school with my sister, so I saw her perform in person.

  • The Asian girl is dubbed by Betty Buckley

  • yes! she sound AMAZING in this song.

  • Never knew that...but as I listen, yep, it's totally Betty Buckley. Listen to her sing "walking" and it's obvious.

  • Hey Bukowski is cute :)

  • actually the musical will be performed this month in Central Park. There is also a full page article about this in this month's issue of Vogue.

  • btw it was the first time i ever saw it but now im hooked.

it was beyond amazing... i actually prefer it to the movie and everything

i had a friend that was in it and a a few friends that ushered

    it was really spectacular.

i have no words to truly convey how amazing it was

  • Thanks! Gave me goosebumps! And good memories of younger days....

  • Easier said than done...

  • I LOVE this musical!

We had our last show of it yesterday at our school! I have a vid of Electric Blues and Good morning starshine!

  • It's so sad, war and violence are the things the most stupid at the world...

    Make love not war...<3

  • War is not pretty, however, neccessary.

  • LOVE IT.

    Thanks for posting.

  • oh..........so beautiful

  • favorite song from hair

  • 谢谢!哪位朋友能告诉我在哪里可以买到这部影片?我找了好长时间。谢谢、谢谢!请多多帮忙!~

  • That's easy for you to say.

  • Why did this comment get 6 thumbs down?

  • No idea why. An online chinese-english translator translates: "Thanks! Which friend can tell me where to be possible to buy this movie? I have looked for the good long time. Thanks, thanks! Please very much help! ~"

  • Hairs most beautiful and contoversial song.

  • Gotta love John Savage!

  • Beautiful song. Betty Buckley dubbed for the young Asian woman singing "Walking in Space."

  • one of the most powerful moments of thewhole film.... The lyrics are so...

    Hm.

    Thanks for the vid.

  • Thank you for this Video! :-)Wunderful Song
