  • Gosh I love that conductor.

  • In the time of Bach, did he perform this Passion with kids too? No woman? I would like to know that. There was the issue that woman could´t perform sacral music, but sometimes that happens - so, this issue is a bit nebulous.

Tha choral parts are ok with kids, but the arias - not very good.

  • @codonauta : Bach was a protestant. In the German Lutheran church, there was no iinterdiction for women to perform sacred music whatsoever. Wonderful parts of Bach and others' sacred songs were written to be performed by women : listen to the heavenly "Ich folge Dir gleichfalls" or "von den Stricken meiner Sünden" in St John's Passion, or to the incredible duett "alles, was von geboren..." in BWV 80...

  • @claudedreyfus Really? I had the information that woman never could sing in German Lutheran Churches in time of Bach. I will try to do a better research about that.

  • Truly Magnificent

  • That little boy is rocking so hard one gets the impression he would rather just rip Christ's cloak into equal parts.

  • Who can ever say Bach never had 'rythm'! Harnancourt continually extracts true magic from every choir and orchestra he conducts. Just look how those kids hang on his every gesture! Not since Sir Malcolm Sargent has there been a greater choral conductor...

  • Bach squeezed form to get the very last drop of soul out of it. Counterpoint (four voices, six consecutive quavers evolving to two four-group semiquavers in a more-canon-than-fugue style) meets the soldiers raffling off Jesus' tunic (Lasset uns den nicht zerteilen!). Wonderfully and uniquely visited by Harnoncourt. Thank you emejota07!.

  • What an absolute master Harnoncourt was! Like Toscanini, his interpretation of the music seems obvious until you realize that no one else seems able to bring the music to life to quite the same extent.

  • Isto é que é Qualidade de Vida!

  • That chorus of small boys is fantastic!

  • Equilibrado pero con dificultad musical extrema.¡Contrapuntísticamente inmejorable en toda y cada una de sus notas.¡La perfección.!

  • Magnifique! Merci

  • That little boy is really into it! When need more young boys like that!

  • muy hermoso todo esto. muy equilibrado

  • BWV 245 not 244 whatch out ;)

  • Harnoncourt SANTO SUBITO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • At 0"56, the two boys are Panito Iconomou and Christian Immler...

    The video is from 1985.

Christian Fliegner was born in 1976...

  • Zerlina12 i think that's not Christian Fliegner.. The young man at 00:58 looks like him, but i think he might be a little old to be Christian.. When was this recorded? I mean, in what year.

  • 1985... Think so :p

  • Thank you for this !

    I like all Tolzer videos.

  • The littlle boy with the curlie hair in the middle line is really into the music. Is that Christian Fliegner?

  • no thats Tobias Eiwanger (me!) ... ;)

  • @Freizeitspieler :So its you! Thank you for your emotionell singing. Its joyful to see a singer so young be so "into" the music.

  • @Freizeitspieler: You were wonderful in this performancel!!! I have the same feeling when I sing Bach --- so much emotion and passion! This is my favorate version of Johannnes - Passion --- so many talents together! I can't help thinking Bach is the gift from God, so are you and choir and Harnoncout! Thank you, thank you all!
