There have been various extras and minor parts he played, whether that be because he didn't get the role he wanted, or he didn't mind I have no clue.But I understand we all have our own opinions. Because Vic, Travis Willingham (Mustang) and Laura Bailey (Lust) are big names in FUNimation, they are chosen more than other voice actors. They play quite alot of minor characters also . They don't do it on purpose unless they really want the job :)

Seeing as how the anime was pretty much all just talking, it's important that they focus on voice acting, and I think they did a superb job. Can't say I've heard a better dubbed anime, ever.
Actually, they weren't as bad as I thought they would be, Kauru's was actually REALLY good XD! He was ABE from OOFURI! I was absolutly withering when I heard the tough, yelling, scary Abe being turned into a soft spoken uke.

The dub isn't all that bad. It's actually really good considering the fact that Renge's voice is better in the dub along with Haruhi's and Tamaki's(despite I do not like vic mignogna as a person). The opening could have been better but these people kick their asses to please you all, so being rude about their hard work is kind of harsh.

I loved the dub way more, because then I get to watch the show, and not go back and pause for shit I didn't read XD I do agree with the opening, though. Either use Vee's opening (which was 100% better), or use the original Japanese one like most anime shows do. Best voice actors for this show, too! Haruhi's voice sounds completely mutual, unlike the subbed version. I love the Japanese, but c'mon~ She has to sound mutual~~~~~ .......... I need to watch more things instead of Ruby Gloom and Ouran.

He's a very popular VA, and some people say that he is snob. I've also heard that the only reason he's been called that is because he's Christian and turns down certain roles because it's against his beliefs.

I have mixed opinions about the Ouran dub, but then again I saw the sub first, so I'm kinda biased.
The only things that really got on my nerves were the singers for the opening theme (way too high pitched for my taste) and Vic McDerpADerp being casted as Tamaki. I don't hold a high opinion of Vic Mignogna as a VA, mainly because of his attitude. Also, Miyano Mamoru (Tamaki's Japanese VA) is my favorite seiyuu and seemed to fit Tamaki's character better. Vic sounded too much like Ed.
Dislike dub... I read the manga 1st then listen to dub anime. I was very dispointed within 10min of 1st ep. The Japanese tone of voice is more close to voices I imagined in my head when I read manga.
Ouran dubbing is so good compared to some of the really craply done ones out there that make you horrified to listen to a good anime in your own language. I liked Kyoya especially in this one, her wasn't really like his Japanese counterpart but he was really good in a different way.
Dubs aren't that bad, though i do like the subs better most of the times, i can still take the dub. I've seen dubs so bad that i start crying, but this one is pretty decent. Funimaton's dubs are usually pretty good.
My husband whines about the Naruto dub until I call him a closet fan boy. Honestly I can go either way with most subs or dubs except for Sailor Moon. Except I really have to watch dubs for the time being because I have a baby and you can't always watch subs with a baby.
I love the dub! Vic rocks! The song, I'm a little ifie on, but the rest is awesome! And funimation does not really have a say. In the end the Japanese producers choose who voices the characters.
At least this is better than what 4Kids would have done with it. Myself, I've never watched the Japanese version (only a few episodes) and it doesn't vary that much from the dubbed version. Plus, Vic Mignogna is dead sexy.

Eh- I like dubs~ i like subs~ but personally, i prefer the dub of Ouran, but i really hate when people fucking complain about how 'OMG- i can't stand this cause it's not the original!' or 'dubs suck cause the VAs can't pronounce blah and blah'. it's silly. they're not japanese, so of COURSE their not gonna get the pronunciation completely correct. 90% of people who cry over how the "SUBBED ALWAYS BEAT DUBBED NO EXCEPTIONS" are weeaboos who don't speak a word of Japanese (Well, that's a lie, they know KAWAII DESU ARIGATO"), and have no idea if the Japanese voice actors are actually doing a good job. You have to be able to SPEAK the language for that.
I, personally, don't, so I can't critique Japanese dubs. I can, however, say that I love all the voices for the dub, since they all are great and fit the overall character.
@abridgeduploader The only instances where the subbed version beats the dub by default is shows like Sailor Moon, CardCaptor Sakura, and pretty much any DiC/4Kids abomination.
It's nice to finally find someone else that enjoys English Dubbed anime. I don't get why everyone hates it, especially the opening. I like it. I was singing it at work the other day lol
@jonathanjza I disagree, the English dub of Fullmetal Alchemist did better in Japan than the original Japanese version. You know a dub is good when the Japanese like it better than there version. I love this dub and everything about Ouran, and I'm a straight guy. lol

I like the jap intro better, but prefer this show dubbed. I loved the funimation dubbs. Most thier shows are good unless its a terrible show. Look up Ikki Toesen review by Husse and you'll see what I mean.

i liked the English Dub usually i dont like the japanese ones because im paying attention to the subtitles than the real anime itself,but with the english i know what actually happens at the time. so i like the dub. i feel sorry you dont like the funimation dub. funimation dubs are awesome!
i really liked the dub, and i heard how dedicated the actors and director were to making the dub the best it could be, and as faithful to the original as possible. this is a great dub, and one of the few i actually approve of. but i am forever loyal to the original japanese.
I really liked the dub, I thought all the voice actors did a great job portraying their characters. The only thing I couldn't quite get used to was how raspy Kaoru's voice was, but Greg Ayers did a great job acting the part so in the end I didn't mind.
For me it's not really the voices that count, it's the acting of the voices. A voice could be perfect for a character, but if the actor can't act, then it's still going to suck.
I agree. I think Funimation did a great job. Vic was my least favorite of all. I saw too much of Ed Elric in his actions. Hariku voices was a little to low. But I still think they did an excellent job. Well done. I also hope their will be a second season.
I felt the dub was very miscast. Nothing that would make me kill myself but I don't like most if the roles. Tamaki and kyouya were horrible. Stick to the sub
I actually think the voices, including the twins, were well cast. I was a little iffy about Greg Ayres (SP!?!) as Kaoru, but after listening to most of it (I bought the whole serious box set xD), I actually think it works really well. Even Tamaki sounds pretty good, though I miss his Japanese VA and I am not partial to Vic. His preaching at anime conventions is a total turn off on him as a person.
@jeishiikanzaki I try to ignore personal biases when it comes to judging a dub. Sure, I don't like Vic. He's too obsessed with his own views and his hatred for certain fangirls, not to mention his habit of hitting on pretty girls. But he is, in my opinion, one of the most talented American voice actors. Although I'm sure he'd be horrified to realize just how high his voice really is... <_<

Ouran dubbing is so good compared to some of the really craply done ones out there that make you horrified to listen to a good anime in your own language. I liked Kyoya especially in this one, her wasn't really like his Japanese counterpart but he was really good in a different way.

Dubs aren't that bad, though i do like the subs better most of the times, i can still take the dub. I've seen dubs so bad that i start crying, but this one is pretty decent. Funimaton's dubs are usually pretty good.

My husband whines about the Naruto dub until I call him a closet fan boy. Honestly I can go either way with most subs or dubs except for Sailor Moon. Except I really have to watch dubs for the time being because I have a baby and you can't always watch subs with a baby.

I love the dub! Vic rocks! The song, I'm a little ifie on, but the rest is awesome! And funimation does not really have a say. In the end the Japanese producers choose who voices the characters.

At least this is better than what 4Kids would have done with it. Myself, I've never watched the Japanese version (only a few episodes) and it doesn't vary that much from the dubbed version. Plus, Vic Mignogna is dead sexy.

Eh- I like dubs~ i like subs~ but personally, i prefer the dub of Ouran, but i really hate when people fucking complain about how 'OMG- i can't stand this cause it's not the original!' or 'dubs suck cause the VAs can't pronounce blah and blah'. it's silly. they're not japanese, so of COURSE their not gonna get the pronunciation completely correct. But remember- be thankful the anime wasn't dubbed by 4kids or DiC, whom completely butchered some awesome anime

90% of people who cry over how the "SUBBED ALWAYS BEAT DUBBED NO EXCEPTIONS" are weeaboos who don't speak a word of Japanese (Well, that's a lie, they know KAWAII DESU ARIGATO"), and have no idea if the Japanese voice actors are actually doing a good job. You have to be able to SPEAK the language for that.
I, personally, don't, so I can't critique Japanese dubs. I can, however, say that I love all the voices for the dub, since they all are great and fit the overall character.

@jonathanjza I disagree, the English dub of Fullmetal Alchemist did better in Japan than the original Japanese version. You know a dub is good when the Japanese like it better than there version. I love this dub and everything about Ouran, and I'm a straight guy. lol

I like the jap intro better, but prefer this show dubbed. I loved the funimation dubbs. Most thier shows are good unless its a terrible show. Look up Ikki Toesen review by Husse and you'll see what I mean.

i liked the English Dub usually i dont like the japanese ones because im paying attention to the subtitles than the real anime itself,but with the english i know what actually happens at the time. so i like the dub. i feel sorry you dont like the funimation dub. funimation dubs are awesome!

i really liked the dub, and i heard how dedicated the actors and director were to making the dub the best it could be, and as faithful to the original as possible. this is a great dub, and one of the few i actually approve of. but i am forever loyal to the original japanese.

I really liked the dub, I thought all the voice actors did a great job portraying their characters. The only thing I couldn't quite get used to was how raspy Kaoru's voice was, but Greg Ayers did a great job acting the part so in the end I didn't mind.
For me it's not really the voices that count, it's the acting of the voices. A voice could be perfect for a character, but if the actor can't act, then it's still going to suck.

I agree. I think Funimation did a great job. Vic was my least favorite of all. I saw too much of Ed Elric in his actions. Hariku voices was a little to low. But I still think they did an excellent job. Well done. I also hope their will be a second season.

I felt the dub was very miscast. Nothing that would make me kill myself but I don't like most if the roles. Tamaki and kyouya were horrible. Stick to the sub

I actually think the voices, including the twins, were well cast. I was a little iffy about Greg Ayres (SP!?!) as Kaoru, but after listening to most of it (I bought the whole serious box set xD), I actually think it works really well. Even Tamaki sounds pretty good, though I miss his Japanese VA and I am not partial to Vic. His preaching at anime conventions is a total turn off on him as a person.

@jeishiikanzaki I try to ignore personal biases when it comes to judging a dub. Sure, I don't like Vic. He's too obsessed with his own views and his hatred for certain fangirls, not to mention his habit of hitting on pretty girls. But he is, in my opinion, one of the most talented American voice actors. Although I'm sure he'd be horrified to realize just how high his voice really is... <_<
