The Who were arrested the night before they played the Boston Garden in Montreal for trashing a hotel. Then they just amde it in time to their gig at The Boston Garden and what a performance The Who delivered here. I wasn't even born yet when this show took place. I think The Who's best live periods were the 1969-74 and some of the 1975-76 shows as well.
Agree those were the best live years except oddly the 1979 Kenney Jones shows in the US and UK were outstanding - from May to Dec 79. Caught 2 shows in Dec. They did the Kampuchea Benefit and blew the roof off. 1980 and splat. The farewell tour kicked fans and PT couldn't have been more bored and wanting everyone to know it. The 89 shows PT used to promote Iron Man. They did steal the show for NYC 9/11. Prefer memories of the '70s when they were the greatest live band ever.
The 1989 Who Tour was actually my first concert I ever went to (I've seen The Who three more times after 1989). Then my second concert after that was Rush a few years later (would see Rush four more times) and then Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath (once in 1995 then 2007 as Heaven and Hell), KISS (four times), Roger Waters (three times), Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Deep Purple (once with Skynyrd and then a year later with The Scorpions), The Rolling Stones, Judas Priest and Genesis.
@floydgenesisnut dude that is so funny that the Who was your first show ever. Me too in 82? first final tour in Toronto at Exhibition Stadium. I think it was Entwistle's birthday. It was a shitty cold windy day in October in any event at the stage was at the west end facing into the wind - bad set up ... next time I saw them there they were set up on east side lol. Tough to beat the Who for a first concert !!! The rest of your list rocks too ...
I'm a huge fan of Rush. But I'm even a bigger fan of The Who ! They helped pave the way for rock-n-roll ! One of the hardest working bands ever IMO !
