I loved original TrackMania Nations because there are so little games that have my country flag more so national anthem, and when you're racing against 20 people and you're the only one from your country, and you come 1st, game plays your anthem to everyone ... that was pretty much my motivation to finish 1st :)

@evillord77 .... Steam would help but despite the great videos, the game is very unfriendly and the steering on walls, narrow roads and loops is virtually non-existant. Each environment will cost £20GBP and you cannot use TMN /TMU cars or animated avatars.

@ItsAWasteOfTime I don't find it too difficult, I can comprehend track parts like that after one or two tries, once you get the hang of it, it's easy, the hardest part is not spinning out on loops at high speed, but if you know what you're doing it's easy.

@evillord77 They didn't decide against Steam distribution because they wanted to, they decided against it because it's unfeasible with the way Canyon will be interfacing with other upcoming Maniaplanet titles. Steam would likely interfere with Maniaplanet's multi-title setup.

I heard this from the support team, so I know it to be accurate. Nadeo's not the kind of company that would make excuses to cut corners, as the quality of Trackmania shows.

Ok .. Good video. TM2 May not be the most playable version of TM but its certainly the best looking. Personally I think Trackmania United Forever (TMUF) has more to offer game-wise as it has more environments, hundreds of different cars, and greater control. Saying that, you've got to remember that TM2 is only just out and still being de-bugged and improved. Major downfall is that extra environments cost as much as the game did EACH! D/Load the FREE Trackmania Nations Forever from there site

@ItsAWasteOfTime I used to play TM Nations a long time ago when I was younger. I was looking at buying either this or TMUF. Which should I buy? I think this game will have a much larger community and tons of new stuff, plus I'd love the chance to get in to competition while the game is still new.

@haydugjr392 TM2 came out in September 2011 at a cost of £20GBP. You get one environment (Canyons) and it will cost you another £20GBP for each new environment. Great grafx but the gameplay sucks and the steering on the car is really yuck. After a month of trying to get used to what is basically an unfinished game, I went back to TMUF where I'm having great fun. Maybe one day Nadeo/UbiSoft will get it all fixed so I'd definitely wait and get TMUF instead mate. Good luck :)

Ours is 3yrs old now, it's called Dirty Deeds Racing (DDR) and has about 400 registered players but only about 140 actual DDR Team members worldwide as all members need to be regulars with over 250-300 hours of DDR Server play time & a friendly personality. The server is family orientated so we don't allow cussing, cheating, racism & agro etc. Other good servers are Sharks & Reservoir Dogs. My username is Firstdriver :)

Hm, seeing this guy play Trackmania for the first time is interesting. Certainly he's not accustomed to the different racing style but there's always room to learn. Great video demonstrating Trackmania 2's new features and cool graphics. Seems he didn't really like it at first but then gradually adapted to the different style.

He's wrong about the need to practice every track. Once you develop a familiarity with the driving mechanics, you can basically adapt to any map relatively quickly.

official time = 1 race every 5 minutes
