Does anyone have a idea what I can feed my ghost shrimp and what are some good floating plants that do not need alot of light and that are not hard to kill? :-)
get some sinking algae pellets. :). they're good for all sorts of bottom feeders, and usually pretty cheap. just don't overfeed or you'll have pond snails out the yinyang.
& java moss (grows like crazy) & duckweed are good floating plants i've had.
swordtails alone can grow up to 5 inches, and the general rule is one inch of fish per gallon. most fish will grow at least 1.5 inches (look up adult fish sizes if you're unsure), so you gotta calculate that in.
also, keep in mind that platies and swordtails are livebearers, and if you mix genders they'll procreate like mad. it's cool and they're cute, but then you need to find somewhere to donate all the fry to, which can be difficult.
xA few months ago i bought some new fish and i too got a 'surprise'! 2 zebra danios had got into the bag by mistake and neither me or the pet shop owner noticed, i saw them in the bag when i got home and saw that they both had a disease(whitespot) so i quickly removed them. The next morning i looked in my tank and about 85% of my fish had whitespot! the danois obviously past it to the new fish in the bag and then they gave it to the other fish! I lost loads of my fish just bcoz of that surprise!
woah dude, I love the way you decorated your tank! I have one but its not as good as yours :O
If you ever have a prob with algae, you could buy a plecostomus (suckerfish), I think it would look cool in your tank ^^ you could get a baby one for like... 4-5 bucks
I dont mean to be like nagging you or anything but nice tank!
silverwingpaladin, never put a common pleco in a small aquarium. These fish can grow 12 inches in the 1st year and require at least 50 gallons. Octilinus however, are tiny sucker fish and make great cleaners for small aquariums.
nice tank please check out mine

i got two little algae eaters that i was informed grow to about 3 inches each. they're little sketchbags, but seem pretty happy.
of course i'm sure i would have more of an algae problem if it weren't for the snail colony overtaking the tank presently.
